Heart Exam

If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out,
then how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of
peace, how will you do in the thicket of the Jordan? --Jeremiah 12:5
NASB

Would you like to know what you really believe about God?
I'm not talking about what you say you believe, or what you ought to
believe, but what you truly do believe. Would you like to see the
truth about you that God sees?

Well, you can. You can actually know what's way down deep
in your heart. And here is how: The next time you suffer, watch how
you react. Watch what happens in your head and heart. Take an attitude
check. Because nothing reveals the stuff of which your Christian
beliefs are made than tough times. Maybe that's why the Bible says,
"Rejoice in suffering" and "Welcome trials as friends." Maybe it's
because then we can know what we're really made of.

It's what happened to the Israelites when they were in the
desert. It says in Deuteronomy chapter 8 that God caused the tough
times to "Test them... to see what was in their hearts." Well, the
fact is, God already knows what's in your heart. He just wants you to
know what's in your heart. You may be facing some keen disappointments
today: loneliness, a bad medical report, financial worries, chronic
pain, or an important relationship on the rocks. It's hard. But it's
also strangely helpful. Because when you find out who you are and what
you really believe... you're facing the truth. And remember, the truth
always sets you free.

What have your recent trials or setbacks revealed to you
about your faith and trust in the Father? That insight wasn't meant to
crush or discourage you. It's an encouragement to set aside
distractions and seek him with fresh urgency.

Dear Lord, I'm so far from where I want to be in my walk
of faith. Draw me closer to your heart this day, and help me to
release my anxieties and fears into your loving hands.

Blessings,

Romans 8:28, And we know that all things works together for good to
them that love GOD, to them called according to His purpose.

Blessed be the name of the Lord and blessed be His holiness that He is
anxious to bestow unto all mankind and blessed are those willing to
receive, and blessed be the children of the Highest.
Blessed are those that are seeking Me above everything, and blessed
are those who are saved by grace. Blessed are you My children who
have their lives in Me. Today I have chosen to bless you and lift you
up. You may not always see the blessing with your natural eyes or
even feel it but you are blessed because I have spoken it. Those that
are living for the kingdom shall inherit the kingdom, and the kingdom
is already within you that are born again into a spiritual birth. You
must learn to trust Me even in life or death and trust Me to the
death. Blessed indeed are those that die in the Lord for in Me is no
spiritual death.
Psalms 34:17-18, The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth; and
delivereth them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them
with a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
2 Corinthians 5:7, For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Today's Promise from the Bible

2 Timothy 1:12

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not
ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is
able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Reflection

Of course God is able—with the unsurpassed power of His mighty hand—to
guard our souls for all eternity! No matter the storm that assails us,
we need never fear our eternal destiny will be capsized in a sea of
torment. How wonderful His lovingkindness! Let us not stand in shame
of the Lord who bought us, but rather, rejoice in the wonder of His
glorious Gospel!

Morning

Let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the
work of our hands.

Thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty: for it [was]
perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord
GOD.--We all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the
Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the
Spirit of the Lord.--The spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.

Blessed [is] every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For
thou shalt eat the labour of thy hands: happy [shalt] thou [be], and [it
shall be] well with thee.--Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts
shall be established.

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who
worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.--Our Lord
Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, who hath loved us, and hath
given [us] everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort
your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

Evening

The apostles assembled themselves to Jesus, and told him all things, both
what they had done, and what they had taught.

There is a friend [that] sticketh closer than a brother.--The LORD spoke to
Moses face to face, as a man speaketh to his friend.--Ye are my friends, if
ye do whatever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the
servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for
all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

When ye shall have done all the things which are commanded you, say, We are
unprofitable servants.

Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, by which we cry, Abba, Father.

By prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God.--The prayer of the upright [is] his delight.

Prophecy of Persecution

1 Thessalonians 3:4 In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling
you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you
well know.

All believers can expect, to some degree, to be persecuted for their
faith. And this will increase as the world grows less tolerant to our
gospel.

Morning

"Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."-1 Peter 5:7

It is a happy way of soothing sorrow when we can feel-"HE careth for me."
Christian! do not dishonour religion by always wearing a brow of care;
come, cast your burden upon your Lord. You are staggering beneath a weight
which your Father would notfeel. What seems to you a crushing burden, would
be to Him but as the small dust of the balance. Nothing is so sweet as to

"Lie passive in God's hands,
And know no will but His."

O child of suffering, be thou patient; God has not passed thee over in His
providence. He who is the feeder of sparrows, will also furnish you with
what you need. Sit not down in despair; hope on, hope ever. Take up the
arms of faith against a sea of trouble, and your opposition shall yet end
your distresses. There is One who careth for you. His eye is fixed on you,
His heart beats with pity for your woe, and his hand omnipotent shall yet
bring you the needed help. The darkest cloud shall scatter itself in
showers of mercy. The blackest gloom shall give place to the morning. He,
if thou art one of His family, will bind up thy wounds, and heal thy broken
heart. Doubt not His grace because of thy tribulation, but believe that He
loveth thee as much in seasons of trouble as in times of happiness. What a
serene and quiet life might you lead if you would leave providing to the
God of providence! With a little oil in the cruse, and a handful of meal in
the barrel, Elijah outlived !
the famine, and you will do the same. If God cares for you, why need you
care too? Can you trust Him for your soul, and not for your body? He has
never refused to bear your burdens, He has never fainted under their
weight. Come, then, soul! have done with fretful care, and leave all thy
concerns in the hand of a gracious God.

Evening

"Now the hand of the Lord was upon me in the evening."-Ezekiel 33:22
In the way of judgment this may be the case, and, if so, be it mine to
consider the reason of such a visitation, and bear the rod and Him that
hath appointed it. I am not the only one who is chastened in the night
season; let me cheerfully submit to the affliction, and carefully endeavour
to be profited thereby. But the hand of the Lord may also be felt in
another manner, strengthening the soul and lifting the spirit upward
towards eternal things. O that I may in this sense feel the Lord dealing
with me! A sense of the divine presence and indwelling bears the soul
towards heaven as upon the wings of eagles. At such times we are full to
the brim with spiritual joy, and forget the cares and sorrows of earth; the
invisible is near, and the visible loses its power over us; servant-body
waits at the foot of the hill, and the master-spirit worships upon the
summit in the presence of the Lord. O that a hallowed season of divine
communion may be vouchsafed to me this evening! The L!
ord knows that I need it very greatly. My graces languish, my corruptions
rage, my faith is weak, my devotion is cold; all these are reasons why His
healing hand should be laid upon me. His hand can cool the heat of my
burning brow, and stay the tumult of my palpitating heart. That glorious
right hand which moulded the world can new-create my mind; the unwearied
hand which bears the earth's huge pillars up can sustain my spirit; the
loving hand which incloses all the saints can cherish me; and the mighty
hand which breaketh in pieces the enemy can subdue my sins. Why should I
not feel that hand touching me this evening? Come, my soul, address thy God
with the potent plea, that Jesu's hands were pierced for thy redemption,
and thou shalt surely feel that same hand upon thee which once touched
Daniel and set him upon his knees that he might see visions of God.

"Spiritual" Love

The human heart can love the human Jesus as it can love the human
Lincoln, but the spiritual love of Jesus is something altogether
different from and infinitely superior to the purest love the human
heart can know. Indeed it is not possible to love Jesus rightly except
by the Holy Spirit. Only the Third Person of the Trinity can love the
Second Person in a manner pleasing to the Father. The spiritual love
of Jesus is nothing else but the Spirit in us loving Christ the
Eternal Son. Christ, after the flesh, receives a great deal of fawning
attention from the liberal and the modernist, but love that is not the
outflow of the indwelling Holy Spirit is not true spiritual love and
cannot be acceptable to God. We do Christ no honor when we do no more
than to give Him the best of our human love. Even though we love Him
better than we love any other man, still it is not enough if He merely
wins first place in competition with Socrates or Walt Whitman. He is
not rightly loved until He is loved as very God of very God, and the
Spirit within us does the loving. There is much in present-day gospel
circles that illustrates the distinction we are pointing out. A great
many loud protestations of love for Christ leave the discerning heart
with the impression that they are but sounding brass and tinkling
cymbals. Innumerable sweet love ballads are sung to Jesus by persons
who have never known the inward illumination of the Holy Spirit or
felt the shock that comes with a true sight of the sinful pollution of
nature.

Verse
Again Jesus said, 'Simon son of John, do you truly love me?' He
answered, 'Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.' Jesus said, 'Take
care of my sheep.' John 21:16

Thought
The love Christ asks of us is not the sentimental kind with emotional
outbursts tearfully expressed. Love for Him is expressed in loving His
sheep--releasing to people the love of Christ produced by the
indwelling Spirit.

Prayer
Father, teach me to love with that love which is part of the Fruit of
the Spirit produced in me as I walk daily by the Spirit. That is
spiritual love.

Simpson Devotional

Inspirational Readings by A.B. Simpson
Days of Heaven on Earth
Friday, January 06, 2012

"Lovest thou me?" the Master asks of each disciple. He expects our
first and highest love for Himself, personally, and He has a right to
it. More than all our service, more than all our work to build up a
cause, He desires our personal devotion to Him. Mary's gift was
precious because it was personal. Ye have the poor with you always;
but me ye have not always (Mark 14:7), was His tender suggestion of a
danger which defeats His purpose-our being more occupied with the work
of Christ than with Christ Himself.

We need the love of Christ in order to fit us for His work. Nothing
else will give it its true aim and center; nothing else will sustain
us amid its pressures.

When Jesus was about to send Simon to take care of His flock, He did
not ask Him, "Lovest thou my sheep and my lambs?" He asked, "Lovest
thou me?" Mere love for people will not enable us to be true to them;
but love for Christ will give us a reflected love for others that will
enable us to touch them for Him and to bless them as our direct touch
never could.

Scripture
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God,
and keep his commandments—1 John 5:2

Why you need biblical community
January 6, 2012
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but
encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing
near.
Hebrews 10:24-25
I heard about a man who wanted to sing in the choir of a certain
church. So he went in to meet with the pastor, who asked him, "Are you
a member of this church?"
The man said, "No, I'm not a member of the church."
The pastor said, "Well, are you a member of any church?"
And the man replied, "No, I'm not a member of any church. But I am a
member of God's invisible universal Church."
So the pastor quipped back, "Well, why don't you sing in the invisible
universal choir then?!"
When we think about church, there are two separate and equally
important aspects of church. There is the invisible universal Church
to which all believers in Christ belong. And there is also the local
church, the visible representation of that invisible reality.
Now yes, it's possible to be a part of the universal Church without
belonging to a local church. But as you see in today's passage,
assembling together is a mandate from the Scriptures that we're to
take seriously!
So if you're not involved in a local church where you're meeting with
others and growing together, find one and get plugged in. You'll not
only be fulfilling the biblical mandate to assemble together, but

Faith's Check Book, Daily Entry
C. H. Spurgeon

January 6
Help from Without

Yea, I will help thee. (Isaiah 41:10)
Yesterday's promise secured us strength for what we have to do, but
this guarantees us aid in cases where we cannot act alone. The Lord
says, "I will help thee." Strength within is supplemented by help
without. God can raise us up allies in our warfare if so it seems good
in His sight; and even if He does not send us human assistance, He
Himself will be at our side, and this is better still. "Our August
Ally" is better than legions of mortal helpers.
His help is timely: He is a very present help in time of trouble. His
help is very wise: He knows how to give each man help meet and fit for
him. His help is most effectual, though vain is the help of man. His
help is more than help, for He bears all the burden and supplies all
the need. "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man can do unto
me."
Because He has already been our help, we feel confidence in Him for
the present and the future. Our prayer is, "Lord, by thou my helper";
our experience is, "The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities"; our
expectation is, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, whence
cometh my help"; and our song soon will be, "Thou, Lord, hast holden
me."

As the body without the spirit is dead,
so faith without deeds is dead.

DAILY-E-VOTIONAL
BLESSINGS FROM THE HEART
Pastor Cecil A. Thompson
January 6, 2012

DRAW ME NEARER!
Luke 15:19-20
"I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your
hired servants. So he got up and went to his father. But while he was
still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with
compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and
kissed him."

One of my most pleasurable jobs as a pastor is helping families
restore broken relationships. I once was called upon to officiate at a
funeral service. The son of the deceased told me that he had not
spoken to his sister for years and wanted me to reconcile them before
the service. Yah!
Less than an hour before the service I met with the two and their
families. Each of them had ten or fifteen children, spouses and others
on their side. He and his family were on one side and she and her
family on the other side of the aisle. I had prayed for just the right
words and to this day cannot recall what Scripture I used. I had just
finished when the brother stood and walked across the aisle and hugged
his sister. The two families merged with great joy.
Fanny J. Crosby lived from 1820 to 1915. This remarkable lady never
let problems keep her away from the Lord. Her blindness as an infant
meant that she spent her entire life without physical sight, but was
blessed with a keen spiritual sight.
When she was only eight she wrote the following poem: Oh, what a happy
child I am, although I cannot see! I am resolved that in this world
contented I will be! How many blessings I enjoy that other people
don't! So weep or sigh because I am blind, I cannot – nor I won't. The
hymn, Draw Me Nearer seems to express her desire toward her blessed
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Draw Me Nearer
I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow'r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today, trust Him completely
and be a blessing!

Following Hard After Him
"My soul followeth hard after thee; thy right hand upholdeth me." Psalm 62:8

Why do we long after God? Why do we pursue Him? The impulse to pursue
God originates with God, but the outworking of that impulse is our
following hard after Him. It is because we are made in His image that
we have the capacity to know Him. When we have been quickened by the
Spirit to a new life, our whole being senses its kinship to God. The
more we learn of God, the more we long for His presence. As Jesus
stated, "No man comes to the Father, except the Father draw him" The
reality is that all the time we are pursuing God we are already in His
hands. God longs for us to dwell with Him, as much or even more that
we do. Is that not an amazing thought . . . God longs for me: He longs
to speak with, me He longs for me to pursue Him. Let us resolve this
day to put an end to our longings and dwell in His presence. What joy
will be ours!
What an awesome thought, Father, that You long for me. It is hard for
me to fathom that, but I thank You for Your love and Your father's
heart. Help me to dwell in Your presence that we may both find joy in
our relationship. It is hard to imagine that You love me and want me
that much or that You might ever find joy in me, but I thank You that
it is possible. May I bring You joy in all that I do and say and may I
dwell in Your presence forever. Amen

Your FailuresThe righteousness of God is revealed through faith in
Jesus Christ, to all who believe. There is no difference, for all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…Romans 3:22

Perhaps the heaviest burden we try to carry is the burden of mistakes
and failures. What do you do with your failures?

Even if you've fallen, even if you've failed, even if everyone else
has rejected you, Christ will not turn away from you.

Psalm 68:19 says, "Praise the Lord, God our Savior, who helps us every
day." Every day!

Christ came first and foremost to those who have not hope. He goes to
those no one else would go to and says, "I'll give you eternity!"

Only you can surrender your concerns to the Father. No one else can
take those away and give them to God.

What better way to start the day than by laying your cares at Jesus' feet?

Devotional For Dieters 1/6

January 6

Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission.

If we learn anything at all from being a Christian, we learn that good
things do not come without sacrifice. Jesus had to give everything He
had in order to reunite us with God. If we decide to be the best we
can be, then we need to accept the fact that there is some sacrifice
required. When we learn to sacrifice, we learn what it means to be a
Christian. Sacrifice is a good discipline. Sacrifice teaches us what
is really important, and it helps us be thankful for what we have.
When we stop to think of how great Christ's sacrifice for us was, it
inspires us in our diets to become better people; people worth dying
for!

Today's thought: Dieting can draw me closer to being a disciple!

A Hurricane Named Peace - #6520
Friday, January 6, 2012

A few months ago I thought they were talking about my grandmother
storming up the East Coast. Actually, it was a hurricane with the same
name - Irene. Oh, and I know what that name means. It means peace. How
ironic.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "A
Hurricane Named Peace."
Of course, it was in the face of a monster life-hurricane that Jesus
gave His disciples one of the greatest promises of peace ever made.
Within hours, the Man for whom they have left everything would be
arrested, and tortured and crucified like a criminal.
Our word for today from the Word of God, John 14{bible} beginning in
verse 27, tells us that as this Category 5 "hurricane" was on the
verge of ripping apart their world, Jesus said: "Peace I leave with
you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do
not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" ({bible}John
14:27).
Excuse me, but how can a devastating life-storm go hand-in-hand with peace?
I got a hint of how on the day they thought the plane I was on might
crash. The hydraulic system had failed and we were being diverted to
the nearest airport. The flight attendants were barely concealing
their own anxiety, and they were drilling us as fast as they could in
how to prepare for a crash landing (of course, they never mentioning
that "c" word, but you could tell that's what it was about). Needless
to say, it was suddenly very tense, very quiet on our flight.
There was a grandma next to me, and she was I guess pretty much a
nervous wreck. She talked about seeing her grandchildren in New
Jersey, and I listened and I did my best to be of some comfort to her,
and even tried to lighten it up a little bit with a little humor. Then
it was time to land on a runway that was flanked with these emergency
vehicles; lights flashing everywhere. And thankfully, we landed
safely, just a little bumpy.
We were packing up to leave, and grandma said to me, "How could you be
so calm when everybody else was so uptight?" And I said, "Well, I had
total peace the whole time, actually, because my peace isn't based on
what's going on around me. It's based on Who's going on inside me. One
day I asked Jesus to come into my life and take over, and He did, and
nothing can take Him from me."
Now, that's the secret of hurricane peace. Your response to the
tempest is defined by your anchor relationship with Jesus Christ, not
the screaming winds of the storm. Or as the Bible says, "You will keep
him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in
You" (Isaiah 26:3). The wind and the water won't determine what
happens to me. Jesus will. And whatever may get washed away, I cannot
lose the One who is my reason to live, my defining love, my unloseable
security.
Of course, the peace that Jesus promised to His followers that dark
night would come at an unthinkable price; His horrific death on a
cross, because there is no peace for someone who's away from the God
who made them. And, according to the Bible, we all are. Having the
unshakeable peace of God depends on being at peace with God, and that
couldn't happen without my sin being paid for. So the road to peace is
paved with the blood of Jesus. Or as the Bible says, "He was crushed
for our iniquities (or wrongdoings); the punishment that brought us
peace was upon Him" (Isaiah 53:5).
So, for you, peace will begin at the foot of Jesus' cross; the peace
place where Jesus died to pay the price to make peace between you and
God. And that peace becomes yours, that gift of eternal life becomes
yours when you reach out and make it your own; when you personalize it
by saying, "Jesus, I give myself to You because You died for me, and
You're alive because You walked out of your grave. I want You to walk
into my life." Let the peace begin! Let it happen today. Tell Him,
"Jesus, I'm Yours."
Please go visit our website and you can watch, or read, or listen to a
presentation there that will help you understand how to begin your
relationship with Him.
Hurricane-proof peace is a Person, and He'll be there when the storm
is howling, and He'll be there when the storm has passed.

The Path of Life

Jeremiah 10:23-24

Life is like an untraveled trail with complex twists and turns.
Appealing activities can be detours that lead to the quicksand of sin.
And engaging philosophies may form side paths that end up in a mire of
muddled thinking. Even the best route isn't all sun-dappled meadows
and quiet riverside lanes. We may at times have to journey over hard
terrain or shadowed valleys. The only way to be sure we're walking
right is to follow one who knows the way perfectly.

God is the perfect, full-service Guide. No one can go wrong by keeping
to the pathways He selects. Consider that He lovingly and
intentionally created you for this time and this place. The Lord
watches over your steps because He desires to see your purpose
fulfilled and His plan come to fruition through you (Prov. 3:5-6).
Therefore, He promises to counsel those who follow Him (Ps. 25:12).
When God warns His children away from a tempting sidetrack, it is
because He foresees the dangers that lurk on that road.

There's a correlation between ignoring God's guidance and ending up in
trouble: the one who stumbles off course has trusted his own "sense of
direction"—his emotions, desires, or personal version of morality.
He's been pursuing what feels good or looks right instead of seeking
the Lord's will.

God has mapped out the path before you. He is aware of every obstacle
and miry pit, and He knows exactly which sidetracks will tempt you.
What's more, He has committed to walk beside you as a Guide and
Comforter so that you never face the twists and turns of this life
alone.

Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends
only to evil.

Psalm 37:8

Growing up, my mother had a pressure cooker. And I distinctly recall
one Sunday when she was cooking green beans, and all of a sudden I
heard, "AAAAAHHHHH!" from the kitchen. So I walked in there and I saw
green beans hanging from the ceiling! The cooker had exploded from the
pressure inside.

That's just like so many people today, isn't it? They've got so much
pressure and so much anger on the inside. They may give the excuse,
"Oh, that's just the way I am" or "That's just my temperament." But
the Bible says that in Christ, you are a new person. So put away those
things that destroy and damage you and those around you… including
your temper!

When Debbie and I got married, we made a pledge to one another that we
would never go to sleep angry at each other. Well, we've kept that
promise. In fact, we've stayed up half the night on some occasions
because we know how destructive anger can be. It's like a parasite
that slowly eats away at you.

Relationships are rarely shattered because of one incident. Instead,
anger builds over time and eventually explodes all over the place. So
if you have anger in you, don't let it go unchecked. Confess it to
others and make things right today!

ANGER IS A VERY DESTRUCTIVE FORCE FOR ANY RELATIONSHIP. SO IF YOU HAVE
ANGER TOWARD SOMEONE, CONFESS IT AND MAKE IT RIGHT TODAY!

A HEBREW SAGE MIGHT SAY. . .
Tradition is a protective fence for the TORAH. Tithes protect wealth,
vows protect abstinence, silence protects wisdom. [Rabbi Akiva]

EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY
"Now to HIM WHO is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to HIM be glory
in the church by CHRIST JESUS to all generations, forever and ever.
Amen." [Ephesians 3. 20 - 21]

This SCRIPTURE assures us of GOD'S amazing, unlimited ability to
answer our prayers and is related to the unique "power that works in
us." The Apostle Paul used this same word twice before in the epistle
to the Ephesians speaking of "the exceeding greatness of HIS power
toward us who believe" and "the gift of the grace of GOD given to me
by the effective working (energy) of HIS power. [Ephesians 1. 19; 3.
7]

Such power working in us is actually nothing less than the PRESENCE OF
GOD HIMSELF. This is first found in the model prayer that MESSIAH
YESHUA prayed when HIS disciples asked HIM to teach them to pray— "For
YOURS is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen" [Matthew 6. 13] It is this "power of GOD to salvation for
everyone who believes" [Romans 1. 16] which is received when we first
believed and trusted on MESSIAH through the GOSPEL. It has been so
ever since the fulfillment of MESSIAH'S promise when HE declared to
HIS disciples that "you shall receive power when the HOLY SPIRIT has
come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to ME." [Acts 1. 8] The
disciples, were "endued (enabled, authorized, armed, equipped) with
power from on high" [Luke 24. 49], as are we.

This remarkable power of GOD is imparted to us and energized in us by
the enabling of the HOLY SPIRIT. So, we can be filled "with all joy
and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of
the HOLY SPIRIT." [Romans 15. 13]

The LORD YESHUA is our INVINCIBLE REFUGE for all time even throughout
eternity, for we "are kept by the power of GOD through faith for
salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." [1 Peter 1. 5] With
such a HEAVENLY RESOURCE of unlimited spiritual power working in us,
GOD is more then able to accomplish far more than we can ever imagine,
as HE works in and through those yielded to HIS perfect will.

To our glorious and WISE GOD through the LORD YESHUA ha'MASHIACH all
things are possible. In CHRIST my SAVIOR, I greatly rejoice!

Sha'alu (Pray) for the Shalom (Peace) of Jerusalem and all of Israel!
Shalom Chaverim (friends)—Ahavah u brachot b'shem Moshiach Y'shua —
Blessings, love and peace in the NAME OF MESSIAH YESHUA.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem, is praying for the return of our
Messiah and Lord and for the Kingdom of God He is bringing when He
