No Cross without a Crown
For reading & meditation: Ephesians 4:1-16
"He ... ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the
whole universe." (v. 10)
In his autobiography, A King's Story, the Duke of Windsor told of a
strange thing that happened at the funeral of his father, King George
V. He described how, as his father's body was being conveyed on a
draped gun carriage through the crowded streets of London, a mishap
occurred which only those closest to the scene witnessed. The imperial
crown, removed from the Tower of London, had been placed over the
Royal Standard and secured to the lid of the coffin. However, the
jolting of the vehicle caused the Maltese Cross, which surmounts the
crown, to fall. "Suddenly," said the Duke, "out of the corner of my
eye, I caught a flash of light dancing along the pavement. One of the
sailors, marching behind the gun carriage, picked it up, took it to
his commanding officer, and said, 'This cross fell off, Sir. It must
be replaced.' The officer was a little bewildered by the untoward
happening and said: 'Must it be replaced now?' 'Yes Sir,' replied the
sailor, 'The
crown is never complete without the cross.' " In Christian terms the
converse is also true - the cross is not complete without the crown.
The ascension inevitably followed the atonement; the coronation the
crucifixion. One writer says: "One senses a certain embarrassment in
some ministers where the subject of the ascension is concerned. They
tend to shy clear of the topic or dismiss it lightly as no more than a
graphic myth or triumphalist parable." But if there had been no
ascension there would be no gospel. The cross would not be complete
without the crown.

Prayer:
O Father, how can I ever sufficiently thank You that the work of
salvation is complete. Nothing more needs to be done than has been
done. Your Coronation spells it out in the clearest of terms. I am so
deeply, deeply grateful. Amen.

For further study:
Hebrews 1:1-9; Luke 22:69; Colossians 1:18

Thank God for what you have,
Trust God for what you need.

Spiritual Numbness

Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it
to Me.
Matthew 25:40

Recommended Reading
Matthew 25:34-40
The loss of feeling is a warning sign for athletes. Numbness usually arises
from a lack of blood flow and causes a loss of sensation, especially in our
extremities such as hands and feet. In a hard-hitting NFL game in November
2010, Philadelphia's kick returner Ellis Hobbs was tackled so hard he lost
feeling in his body and was carted off the field. It was a career-ending
injury. Cincinnati's Andy Dalton had a problem with his wrist following a
rigorous tackle. "I just lost feeling," he said, "and could not grip the
ball like I wanted to."

The loss of feeling is a warning sign to Christians too. When we lose our
burden for the lost, our compassion for the poor, our concern for orphans
around the world, or our excitement about the church... those are danger
signs. Sometimes our affluence can make us insensitive to the needs of
others. Sometimes busyness can do the same. Often the culprit is a
backslidden heart.

If we stay sensitive to the needs of the "least of these," we'll be doing
the most for Him.

Break my heart for what breaks Yours; everything I am for Your Kingdom's
cause.
Paul Baloche and Brenton Brown, in the song "Hosanna"

Developing a Vibrant Faith
Acts 9:1-16
The apostle Paul had a strong commitment to know and serve Jesus Christ.
His passion and love for the Lord was obvious—Jesus was always central in
his thinking, whether he was working as a tent maker, preaching to the
crowd, or even sitting in chains at prison. What fueled his love for the
Lord?
Paul's conversion experience on the Damascus Road was a motivating force in
his life. Grateful for the gift of grace he had received at salvation, the
apostle told many people about his encounter with the resurrected Christ
and its impact on him. We, too, have a story to tell of God's mercy in
saving us and of the new life we have in Him.
Paul's zeal also came from his firm conviction that the gospel message was
true and available to everyone (John 3:16). On the cross, Jesus took all
our sins—past, present, and future—upon Himself (1 Pet. 2:24). He suffered
our punishment so that we might receive forgiveness and be brought into a
right relationship with God. Through faith in Christ, we've been born
again, and the indwelling Holy Spirit helps us every day (John 14:26). The
more we understand what Jesus has accomplished on our behalf, the greater
will be our passion to share the gospel.
Developing a vibrant faith requires time and energy plus a commitment to
obey God. Regularly studying the Bible will strengthen your beliefs and
give you courage to speak. Caring about the spiritual welfare of others
will move you into action. Do you have a passion to serve Jesus wherever He
leads?

*Let Him Change Your Mind*

by Max Lucado

"Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth."
Colossians 3:2 (NASB)
God…changes the man by changing the mind. And how does it happen?
By…considering the glory of Christ…
To behold Him is to become like Him. As Christ dominates your thoughts, He
changes you from one degree of glory to another until—hang on!—you are
ready to live with Him.
Heaven is the land of sinless minds…Absolute trust. No fear or anger. Shame
and second guessing are practices of a prior life. Heaven will be
wonderful, not because the streets are gold, but because our thoughts will
be pure.
So what are you waiting on?…Give Him your best thoughts, and see if He
doesn't change your mind.

*Happy?*

by Katherine Kehler

"You have made know to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in
your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand" Psalm 16:11
One day while on a flight home, I shared The Four Spiritual Laws with a
young businessman. He told me that he was a Buddhist and began to ask me
questions like, "Have you found happiness?" and "When do you experience the
deepest happiness?" With deep conviction I was able to tell him that I had
indeed found happiness and I experienced the deepest satisfaction and joy
during the time I spent alone with God.
Spending time with God gives us the opportunity to experience God's love
permeating through every cell in our bodies. When we sit or walk alone with
Him, away from distractions, He ministers to us. Our hearts can, and do,
respond in return, with love for Him. If we don't take time to allow God to
minister to us, our Christianity becomes legalistic and shallow. Our
ministry becomes a drag, a duty we come to resent.
I talked to a woman a few years ago who was having a tremendous ministry
but wasn't happy. She seemed to be driven. She wasn't resting in the Lord.
She was getting up in the middle of the night to intercede for her
disciples, but she was not taking the time to allow God to fill her inner
needs. Not long after I talked with her, she decided to leave her ministry.
I believe the reason some people burn out and leave full-time ministry is
simply because they are not taking enough time to relax and enjoy the Lord.
They have forgotten that God loves them and that they have been created to
glorify Him and enjoy Him forever. Are you taking the time to experience
God's love in your life?
O God, show us how to enjoy You. Cause us to believe that You delight in
our fellowship and desire to give us rest. Amen.

THE VOICE OF THE NATURE OF GOD

I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send?
Isaiah 6:8

When we speak of the call of God, we are apt to forget the most
important feature, viz., the nature of the One Who calls. There is
the call of the sea, the call of the mountains, the call of the great
ice barriers, but these calls are only heard by the few. The call is
the expression of the nature from which it comes, and we can only
record the call if the same nature is in us. The call of God is the
expression of God's nature, not of our nature. There are strands of
the call of God providentially at work for us which we recognize and
no one else does. It is the threading of God's voice to us in some
particular matter, and it is no use consulting anyone else about it.
We have to keep that profound relationship between our souls and God.

The call of God is not the echo of my nature; my affinities and
personal temperament are not considered. As long as I consider my
personal temperament and think about what I am fitted for, I shall
never hear the call of God. But when I am brought into relationship
with God, I am in the condition Isaiah was in. Isaiah's soul was so
attuned to God by the tremendous crisis he had gone through that he
recorded the call of God to his amazed soul. The majority of us have
no ear for anything but ourselves, we cannot hear a thing God says.
To be brought into the zone of the call of God is to be profoundly
altered.

Time With My Lord

My body may not work so well
But, that I would accept
Although the journey wasn't easy
My heart is now content

For, now I am so grateful
In the place my Lord has set
To be spending time with Him
Can only be life's best

He may have put my life aside
But, in Him I know I'm placed
With time on hand to worship
And gaze upon His face

His grace is where I love to rest
My moments are all His
To be in Him, to be His child
Is forever only bliss

I might almost say every day, that I live,
I seem to see more clearly how all the rest
and gladness and power of our Christian
life hinges on one thing; and that is,
taking God at His word, believing
that He really means exactly what He says,
and accepting the very words
in which He reveals His goodness and grace,
without substituting...[anything!]

GOD EXISTS
poem by Anne R. C. Neale
Jesus showed us God exists
By His instant healing and miracles too,
No one else can do what He did
He showed us God exists and that is true,
God exists and He is our Lord,
He's our Savior and our Creator too,
He came to earth to show us the way,
He loves us all dearly especially me and you.
Believers know that God exists,
They pray to Him all the time,
He is our Father , Our Lord in Heaven,
God is Divine and He is Sublime

Read | Proverbs 6:6-8

God is a masterful Creator. He has integrated many of His
principles into the fabric of nature so that we can see His handiwork
and learn of Him (Ps. 19:1-6). If you desire to acquire wisdom, do not
neglect to look outdoors for His lessons.

Now, of course, the outdoors sometimes comes inside. If you've
ever battled ants in your kitchen or pantry, wisdom probably isn't the
first trait you would attribute to them—you probably would choose a
description more like determination. But to the lazy person, God
points out these tiny creatures as an example of wise living. Simply
consider how many characteristics of the ant people would be smart to
adopt: preparation, cooperation, perseverance, diligence, unity, and
the list goes on. So interacting with righteous men isn't the only way
to acquire wisdom. God also wants us to observe the lowly ant that He
created to work in community.

There's much to learn from the created world. By directing
attention to the birds, Jesus challenges His followers to consider the
folly of anxiety (Matt. 6:26). Birds do not reap or gather grain but
rather assume their food will be supplied as it always has been. The
lesson in this observation of nature is that the Lord who provides for
birds can be trusted to meet His people's needs as well.

Our quest for wisdom is to be rooted in Scripture and covered in
prayer. But don't overlook the many lessons unfolding right outside
the front door. Ask God for "eyes to see" (Mark 8:18). Then take every
chance to grow in understanding so your capacity to live by His
principles will be strengthened.

Charles Stanley

Stop Giving Away Your Power

by Jane Powell

"You can't always control your circumstances."

Your life can change at any time, from harmonious to
difficult. The reality is that you have no control over circumstances
that may turn your life upside down.

But there is something you can control. That something is
your reaction to the situation. When you accept this and resist the
urge to blame and act as the victim, you regain control.

Be mindful when life gets tough. Never give away what
power you do possess, when confronted with a bad situation.

The Cost of Living Up To the Expectations of Others
"You are your own best judge."

When you start judging yourself by looking through the
eyes of your parents, husband, friends, or boss, you end up running
around doing more and more in an effort to gain their approval. It
does not take long before you end up feeling exhausted, resentful and
ready to give up.

Trying to live your life by the expectations of others
disconnects you from your own desires. It leaves you feeling empty and
unmotivated. The gratification that comes from fulfilling the
expectations of others is very little and short-lived.

Reclaim the energy and happiness that is rightfully yours!
Be your own judge and live by your own expectations. As you reclaim
your potential, you will thrive and feel energized, because you are
accomplishing things that are important to you. Start today!

Stop stopping yourself

Stop stopping yourself. Stop holding yourself back.

Yes, the world throws all sorts of difficult challenges
your way. And you can find a way to transcend every one of them.

Yet you must choose to do so. You must make the
commitment, deep within yourself, to live with richness and purpose
and fulfillment.

Many events, people and situations will challenge you and
impede your progress. However, the only limitations that can stop you
completely are the limitations you place on yourself.

See that the doubts and limiting beliefs are of no use to
you. Choose to simply and effortlessly let them go, just like that.

Your dreams are calling to you right now, calling for you
to begin living them in this very moment. Stop holding yourself back,
and let yourself be all you know you can be.

Ralph Marston

Morning

It pleased [the Father] that in him should all fulness dwell.

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.--God
also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every
name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in
heaven, and [things] on earth, and [things] under the earth; and [that]
every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.--Far above all principality, and power, and might, and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in
that which is to come.--By him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are upon earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him,
and for him.

Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the
dead and the living.--And ye are complete in him, who is the head of all
principality and power.--Of his fulness have we all received, and grace for
grace.

Evening

Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the
things which shall be after this.

Holy men of God spoke [as they were] moved by the Holy Spirit.--That which
we have seen and heard we declare to you, that ye also may have fellowship
with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son
Jesus Christ.

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a
spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus
spoken, he showed them [his] hands and [his] feet.--He that saw [it]
testified, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he speaketh
truth, that ye may believe.

We have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you
the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his

Morning

"I will help thee, saith the Lord."-Isaiah 41:14

This morning let us hear the Lord Jesus speak to each one of us: "I will
help thee." "It is but a small thing for Me, thy God, to help thee.
Consider what I have done already. What! not help thee? Why, I bought thee
with My blood. What! not help thee? I have died for thee; and if I have
done the greater, will I not do the less? Help thee! It is the least thing
I will ever do for thee; I have done more, and will do more. Before the
world began I chose thee. I made the covenant for thee. I laid aside My
glory and became a man for thee; I gave up My life for thee; and if I did
all this, I will surely help thee now. In helping thee, I am giving thee
what I have bought for thee already. If thou hadst need of a thousand times
as much help, I would give it thee; thou requirest little compared with
what I am ready to give. 'Tis much for thee to need, but it is nothing for
me to bestow. 'Help thee?' Fear not! If there were an ant at the door of
thy granary asking for help, it would n!
ot ruin thee to give him a handful of thy wheat; and thou art nothing but
a tiny insect at the door of My all-sufficiency. 'I will help thee.'"

O my soul, is not this enough? Dost thou need more strength than the
omnipotence of the United Trinity? Dost thou want more wisdom than exists
in the Father, more love than displays itself in the Son, or more power
than is manifest in the influences of the Spirit? Bring hither thine empty
pitcher! Surely this well will fill it. Haste, gather up thy wants, and
bring them here-thine emptiness, thy woes, thy needs. Behold, this river of
God is full for thy supply; what canst thou desire beside? Go forth, my
soul, in this thy might. The Eternal God is thine helper!

"Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismay'd!
I, I am thy God, and will still give thee aid."

Evening

"The Messiah shall be cut off, but not for himself."-Daniel 9:26

Blessed be His name, there was no cause of death in Him. Neither original
nor actual sin had defiled Him, and therefore death had no claim upon Him.
No man could have taken His life from Him justly, for He had done no man
wrong, and no man could even have lain Him by force unless He had been
pleased to yield Himself to die. But lo, one sins and another suffers.
Justice was offended by us, but found its satisfaction in Him. Rivers of
tears, mountains of offerings, seas of the blood of bullocks, and hills of
frankincense, could not have availed for the removal of sin; but Jesus was
cut off for us, and the cause of wrath was cut off at once, for sin was put
away for ever. Herein is wisdom, whereby substitution, the sure and speedy
way of atonement, was devised! Herein is condescension, which brought
Messiah, the Prince, to wear a crown of thorns, and die upon the cross!
Herein is love, which led the Redeemer to lay down His life for His enemies!
It is not enough, however, to admire the spectacle of the innocent
bleeding for the guilty, we must make sure of our interest therein. The
special object of the Messiah's death was the salvation of His church; have
we a part and a lot among those for whom He gave His life a ransom? Did the
Lord Jesus stand as our representative? Are we healed by His stripes? It
will be a terrible thing indeed if we should come short of a portion in His
sacrifice; it were better for us that we had never been born. Solemn as the
question is, it is a joyful circumstance that it is one which may be
answered clearly and without mistake. To all who believe on Him the Lord
Jesus is a present Saviour, and upon them all the blood of reconciliation
has been sprinkled. Let all who trust in the merit of Messiah's death be
joyful at every remembrance of Him, and let their holy gratitude lead them
to the fullest consecration to His cause.

Coffee Break

"Sin Size"

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

"... from all unrighteousness." The blood of Jesus doesn't "pick and
choose" which sins it forgives and washes away. It washes away "all"
of them. We tend to "categorize" sin. We have what we consider "big"
sins and "little" sins. And we think that for some reason the "big"
ones are either too big for Jesus' blood to forgive or it takes "more"
of the blood to take care of them. Then we think that the "little"
ones aren't important enough or are too small to bother with- they are
so small that the Lord will just let them "slide by". Neither
thinking is correct. Sin is sin- big, little or somewhere in between.
All sin has to be dealt with. All sin was taken care of by the blood
of Jesus.

How small a sin is too small that it is all right for it to be in our
lives? Let's say that you have a 55 gallon container full of pure
fresh water. If you take one small drop of raw sewage and dropped it
in that container of water, would you still drink it? I wouldn't.
The water has been contaminated by what? Gallons of raw sewage? No,
by one small drop.

How big a sin is too big? We tend to think that mass murders, rapist,
people who cheat hundreds of people out of their life savings, are
sins that are too big to be forgiven by the blood of Jesus. That is
not what the Bible tells us, and it gives us examples of those who did
such things and had their sins forgiven and washed clean. We better
be glad that God washes away the "big" ones as well. Because we don't
know that we might not be the ones whose sins are too big to be
forgiven. If sin had a size, who would determine the "size"- whether
they are little or big? God would be the one. How would we know that
what we consider small He might actually consider big- so that left us
out of having our sins forgiven.

I am so thankful that the bottom line is: Jesus shed His blood for
all, because all have sinned. And His blood was and is powerful
enough to take care of every sin- regardless- and wash away even the
stain that might otherwise be left behind.

Have a great day. If sin had a size, the blood of Jesus would still
be powerful enough to take care of them all.

How to know you're ready for eternity
January 16, 2012
And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this
life is in his Son.
1 John 5:11
When Sir William Ramsay was executed in 1683, the English patriot took
his watch out of his pocket, gave it to his doctor on his way to the
gallows, and said, "Here, take my timepiece. I have no need of it now,
for I am dealing with eternity."
Your time is ticking. And if you just put your hand on your heart, you
can feel those heartbeats as if they were saying, "Quickly, quickly,
quickly, quickly." Then one day, they stop. And while death is sure
and life is so brief, God gives you this life as an opportunity to
prepare for the future because everyone will live forever somewhere.
My soul and your soul will go on endless, dateless, and measureless
throughout all eternity. You'll be alive a thousand years from now.
You'll be alive 10 billion years from now, either in heaven or hell.
So don't miss this opportunity!
So, here's the question I have for you today: Are you ready for
eternity? Are you ready for that day you move from this life to the
next? The only way to be 100% sure is to confess in your heart that
Jesus is Lord and trust in Him for the forgiveness of your sins. When
you do that, you'll be ready to deal with the eternity that everyone
will one day face.

EVERY PERSON WILL ONE DAY ENTER ETERNITY. SO MAKE SURE YOU'RE READY BY
TRUSTING IN JESUS CHRIST TO FORGIVE YOUR SINS.

Faith's Check Book, Daily Entry
C. H. Spurgeon

January 16
Even the Faintest Call

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shalt be delivered. (Joel 2:32)
Why do I not call on His name? Why do I run to this neighbor and that
when God is so near and will hear my faintest call? Why do I sit down
and devise schemes and invent plans! Why not at once roll my self and
my burden upon the Lord? Straightforward is the best runner—why do I
not run at once to the living God? In vain shall I look for
deliverance anywhere else; but with God I shall find it; for here I
have His royal "shall" to make it sure.
I need not ask whether I may call on Him or not, for that word
whosoever is a very wide and comprehensive one. Whosoever means me,
for it means anybody and everybody who calls upon God. I will
therefore follow the leading of the text and at once call upon the
glorious Lord who had made so large a promise.
My case is urgent, and I do not see how I am to be delivered; but this
is no business of mine. He who makes the promise will find out ways
and means of keeping it. It is mine to obey His commands; it is not
mine to direct His counsels. I am His servant, not His solicitor. I
call upon Him, and He will deliver me.

so faith without deeds is dead.

DAILY-E-VOTIONAL
BLESSINGS FROM THE HEART
Pastor Cecil A. Thompson
January 16, 2012

SWEATING IT!
Proverbs 3:5-6
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and
make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the
Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If that word sweat is offensive, we can substitute perspiration.
Either way, it is the moisture that appears on your brow and turns
your arm pits a swamp land. I was actively engaged in my early morning
exercise last week when a new thought struck me. I know it is
unbelievable, but it happens occasionally.

One of the first things I do when I enter the workout room is to turn
the heat on in the sauna. I then get on the treadmill for at least 20
minutes. By that time I have worked up a good head of steam. I go into
the sauna for about 10 minutes and boy the swea… oops, perspiration is
really flowing.

As this happened that morning I thought of the difference between the
perspiration from the treadmill and the sauna. In the sauna I am just
exposed to heat and do nothing but sit there. On the treadmill I am
not only producing perspiration, but my heart rate is increased, which
is what I want.

In applying this spiritually I think we will all agree that from time
to time we have to endure the heat of outside situations that we can
do nothing about but simply endure. On the other hand the Word of God
calls us to step out in active service when the Lord calls us. This
produces spiritual heat that in turn causes our heart beat increase. I
want to sweat in service for the Lord when He calls!

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today, trust Him completely and
be a blessing.

I know some of you get tired of the messages but the Spirit of the
Lord comes upon Me and I just can't help but share what He gives to
Me.

My child, I am proud to call you My child and do not let satan rise
against you at this time and know that he is always willing and
waiting to do so for he is much more of an enemy than you can imagine.
I Am very much more a friend to you who are My people than any of you
have ever realized for I AM even a friend to sinners willing to take
all their sins upon Myself. Sinners being guilty were made as not
guilty as I have already become as the evil one while being sinless
and having no sins of My on for the lost world. Even though I was
tempted as even any of you but My Father and I though divided were
one. I never bore the sin nature as does mankind but I was as any
other man and had the opportunity to sin. I became just as other
sinners that the whole world could attain the righteousness of God
which was in Me. Do you fully understand that I became a guilty
sinner and that you were given the righteousness of God because I took
your place at the cross?
I speak these words knowing you have heard them before but I want them
to sink deep in your heart, mind, and spirit that you might take more
consideration of what a great Friend I AM and have always been to the
world; that you might know that My Father and I are one and the power
of heaven and earth is in Our hands. I speak it that you might know
how great a God We are. You have not heard Us speak of Ourselves in a
plural way before have you? Know that their is only one God and has
never been but one true God even though all have not proclaimed Us as
their God. We are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit yet an
undivided God. We all love you as One and the Same in that One of Us
love you as much as the Others loves you. We are three in One and One
in three and speak and think as the same and We are all three friends
of the world and even greater friend to Our Own people who have
befriended Us and accepts Us as Father, Savior, Lord, Master and
Friend.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17: According to the Lord's own word, we tell you
that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord,
will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord
himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the
voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead
in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are
left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the
Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

We have God's word on it, this event will happen. What a great and
wonderful day it will be for the believer. What a tragedy it will be

God the True Source of Help and Comfort

No one need feel ashamed if he has come to God as a last resort,
especially if he has found the help he sought "in the bosom of his
Father and his God." God has received a great army of such persons,
and if He is satisfied, we should be. Billy Sunday once testified that
he had been scared into the kingdom of God. "But," said he, "by the
grace of God I'm not going to be scared out." But be all this as true
as it may be, still it is a bad habit for us as Christians to get
into-the habit of trying everything before taking our problems to God.
God should come first. If in our sinful ignorance we once knew no
better, there is no reason for our continuing in the same rut now that
we are children of the kingdom. It cheats us out of many a victory and
leaves us for long periods in a state of perplexity and distress when
we might be walking in freedom without a care in the world. Going to
God first will head off many a bad situation. A young man falls in
love and without as much as a word of counsel from God plunges into
marriage. A few years later he finds that he has made a bad mistake.
Then he goes to God to seek a way out, and learns that he is too late.
God will still help him even in such circumstances, but the sacred
vows have been taken, and the die is cast. It would have been better
to go to God first. Our chastenings come when we look somewhere else
for help and neglect the one real source of all help and comfort. It's
always best to go to God first.

Verse
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. Psalm 25:9

Thought
What pain and regret we cause ourselves when we fail to go to God
first. When we are sure we are in God's will then trial and sorrow
change drastically in color. We know that out of His infinite riches
in Christ Jesus, grace God gives and gives and gives

Prayer
Thank You for Your guidance and Your grace, Lord. I am such a debtor
to Your grace which is mine through Christ.
