Keep Your "Anger Tank" Empty

"If you are angry, don't sin by nursing your grudge. Don't let the sun
go down with you still angry—get over it quickly; for when you are
angry you give a mighty foothold to the devil." -Ephesians 4:26
(TLB).

According to a report in the John Hopkins Family Health report, "If
you have a tendency to anger easily, you may be at increased risk for
a heart attack or stroke—especially if you have heart disease or
significant heart disease risk factors. Other tip-offs that anger may
be undermining your health include being stubborn, impatient, or
hotheaded, and habitually feeling like you want to hit someone or
something."

Anger, too, is a great destroyer of relationships. It's no wonder that
the Bible teaches us to resolve it quickly—the same day wherever
possible. Being angry is not a sin. It's what we do with it that
counts. The Bible also teaches, "Be angry, sin not." - Ephesians 4:26.
One way to do this is to "speak the truth in love."

Some well-meaning people want to blame the devil or a "demon of
anger." Not so with me. My anger is my problem. But when I fail to
resolve it (or any other pent-up negative emotion) I give a "foothold
to the devil." When I resolve my anger, the devil loses his foothold.

People who have a super-sensitive anger button usually have unresolved
anger from the past with an "anger tank" that is filled to
overflowing. The slightest offense can trigger an outburst of hurtful
anger. They've been nursing grudges for a long time. This is what the
Bible teaches us not to do. That is, "don't sin by nursing your
grudge." Where this is a problem, very often qualified counseling is
needed to help resolve it.

Unresolved anger is unhealthy physically, emotionally, relationally,
and spiritually. This is why the Bible teaches, "Don't let the sun go
down on your anger. Resolve and get over it quickly."

Prayer: "Our Loving Father God, please help me to be honest about my
anger, recognize and admit when I am overreacting and, if it is a
serious problem, lead me to find the help I need to resolve it. Thank
you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving
Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Day and God Bless you.

Psalm 34:18 (NIV). The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves
those who are crushed in spirit....... Thoughts on This Verse... The
LORD is ... ... near! ... present! ... close! How do I know? He came
close in the manger. He walked among us in ministry. He suffered with
us and for us at Calvary. We know that in tragedy, trial, heartbreak,
and brokenness He is near to us to save us. So, will our hearts be
open to Him and will we be seeking Him to come near? Don't let
troubles or heartache lead you to pull away from God or doubt His
nearness. Let Him draw close to you.

And Jesus took the children in his arms,
put his hands on them and blessed them.
( Mark 10:16 *NIV )

As you know our Savior Jesus Christ loves little children! So today
I will share with you a message that was sent to me this month by one
of our subscribers. I know that you will enjoy it as much as I do. It
is titled.......

The "W" in Christmas

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm and peaceful
experience. I had cut back on nonessential obligations - extensive
card writing, endless baking, decorating, and even overspending. Yet
still, I found myself exhausted, unable to appreciate the precious
family
moments, and of course, the true meaning of Christmas.

My son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was an exciting
season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been memorizing songs for
his school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart to tell him I'd
be working the night of the production. Unwilling to miss his shining
moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me there'd be a dress
rehearsal the morning of the presentation. All parents unable to
attend
that evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately, Nicholas seemed
happy with the compromise.

So, the morning of the dress rehearsal, I filed in ten minutes
early, found a spot on the cafeteria floor and sat down. Around the
room, I saw several other parents quietly scampering to their seats.
As I waited, the students were led into the room. Each class,
accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the floor. Then,
each group, one by one, rose to perform their song.

Because the public school system had long stopped referring to the
holiday as "Christmas," I didn't expect anything other than fun,
commercial entertainment - songs of reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes
and good cheer. So, when my son's class rose to sing, "Christmas
Love," I was slightly taken aback by it's bold title.

Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his classmates, adorned in fuzzy
mittens, red sweaters, and bright snow caps upon their heads. Those in
the front row- center stage - held up large letters, one by one, to
spell out the title of the song. As the class would sing "C is for
Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C. Then, "H is for
Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up his portion had
presented the complete message, "Christmas Love."

The performance was going smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her;
a small, quiet, girl in the front row holding the letter "M" upside
down - totally unaware her letter "M" appeared as a "W". The audience
of 1st through 6th graders snickered at this little one's mistake. But
she had no idea they were laughing at her, so she stood tall, proudly
holding
her "W".

Although many teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter
continued until the last letter was raised, and we all saw it
together. A hush came over the audience and eyes began to widen. In
that instant, we understood the reason we were there, why we
celebrated the holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos,
there was a purpose for our festivities. For when the last letter was
held high, the message read loud and clear: "CHRISTWAS LOVE" And, I
believe, He still is. Amen. Author Unknown

Faith versus Reason

1 Corinthians 1:18-31

The first battle between faith and human reason took place in the
garden of Eden. Spurred on by the lies of the serpent, Eve began to
look at her situation from a purely logical perspective and decided
she was being cheated by God out of something good. Her faith faltered
as "reasonable" thoughts of self-interest filled her mind.

I am not saying that the way of faith is never logical, but by
operating only on the basis of reason, a conflict with the Lord is
inevitable. The reason is that His instructions and actions don't
always appear reasonable from a human perspective. Although Isaiah
55:8-9 describes God's thoughts and ways as higher than man's, many
people judge divine ideas to be lower than human intelligence.

Paul emphasizes this when he points out that God's choices are
illogical by the world's standards. His message of salvation seems
foolish, and His messengers appear weak and unimpressive. In an age
that thrives on recognition, admiration, and importance, a person who
believes the Bible is considered a weakling in need of a religious
crutch to cope with life. While this description is given in derision,
it's actually quite accurate. Recognizing their helplessness,
believers lean on Christ so He can raise them to stand with Him in
righteousness.

That day in Eden, sin and self-importance entered the human heart. But
all the worldly wisdom that fuels our pride is nullified by God. He is
looking not for great and impressive people but for weak, humble
servants who can boast only in Christ. The Savior alone is their
strength and wisdom.

Sealed and Sure!
2 Corinthians 1:18-22
A key verse related to the sealing of the Holy Spirit is Ephesians
1:13: "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,
the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye
were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
This truth is also stated in 2 Corinthians 1:22: "Who hath also sealed
us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts." God the Father
has anointed us and sealed us, according to 2 Corinthians 1:21. The
seal, however, is the Holy Spirit Himself.
The persons sealed are those who have trusted in Christ. This is clear
from the Scripture verses already quoted. The basis for this sealing
is belief in the Gospel of Christ.
When a person trusts Christ, the Holy Spirit indwells the believer and
God seals the believer by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to us
as the earnest, or down payment, of our further inheritance.
The Word of God does not say that the Spirit is given only to the
spiritual Christian. Believers can, and sometimes do, become carnal;
nevertheless, they are sealed by the Spirit of God.
Paul told the Corinthians that he could not write to them as spiritual
believers but had to treat them as "carnal, even as . . . babes in
Christ" (1 Cor. 3:1).
Yet to this same group he wrote: "Now he which stablisheth us with you
in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; who hath also sealed us, and
given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts" (2 Cor. 1:21,22).
"Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his" (Rom. 8:9).
