Walk in Peace
Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance...
Luke 3:8
Recommended Reading
Luke 7:1-10
What does it take to amaze Jesus? Twice in His earthly ministry, Jesus
"marveled" ("was amazed," NIV) at something. Once was when a Roman
centurion had the faith to believe Jesus could heal his servant just by
speaking the word from a distance (Luke 7:1-10). The soldier understood
authority and recognized that sickness was subject to Jesus. His faith told
him that all Jesus needed to do was give the command and the servant would
be healed. Jesus was amazed at this demonstration of faith. (The other
instance is in Mark 6:6--Jesus was amazed for the opposite reason.)
John the Baptist verbalized a kingdom principle to the crowds who came to
receive his baptism: "Bear fruits worthy of repentance." That is, your life
must demonstrate your faith. That applies in every area of the faith
life--even worry and anxiety. If we commit our worries to God in prayer,
and believe we have been given the peace of God (Philippians 4:6-7), we
need to walk in peace. We need to bring forth fruits worthy of God's
promise and our prayer.
If you are worried today, amaze Jesus by how you acknowledge His lordship
by walking in peace.

God's Wisdom Revealed
1 Corinthians 2:6-16
After exposing the futility of worldly thinking in 1 Corinthians 1, Paul
introduces Christians to the higher realm of godly wisdom. This kind of
knowledge and understanding isn't available through human intelligence and
reasoning; it comes strictly through divine revelation. Only those indwelt
by God's Spirit have "the mind of Christ" (v. 16) and access to "the things
freely given" to them by God (v. 12).
Without this supernatural insight, no one can accurately know the Lord or
His ways. Many people say they believe in God yet may not have a correct
understanding of Him because their perceptions are based on their own
thoughts and ideas. It's easier to custom-design a god to fit our
preferences than to make the required adjustments that worship of the one
true God demands.
Even believers need to guard against trying to fit God into their
preconceived image of Him. The Bible is the only reliable source of divine
revelation, but we must be careful to consider the Scriptures as a
whole—it's critical that we don't just pick and choose the verses we want
to believe. For example, by focusing only on passages that emphasize the
Lord's lovingkindness while excluding those that speak of His holiness and
justice, we misunderstand His true nature.
Let's seek to know the Lord in truth by considering the entire counsel of
Scripture. Divine wisdom is available to every believer through the Holy
Spirit, who searches the depths of God. May we never try to limit Him to
fit our preferences. Instead, may He enlarge our minds to embrace His
thoughts.

Morning
Let not then your good be evil spoken of.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.--Providing for honest things, not only
in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.--For so is the will
of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish
men.
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an
evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if [any man suffer]
as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this
behalf.
Brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an
occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.--Take heed lest by
any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are
weak.--Whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it
were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that]
he were drowned in the depth of the sea.--Inasmuch as ye have done [it]
unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me.

Evening
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give
thee light.
[It is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer
than when we believed.--Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let
us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they
that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day,
be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet,
the hope of salvation.
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen
upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross
darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory
shall be seen upon thee.
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for
the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus
Christ.--Let your loins be girded about, and [your] lights burning; and ye
yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord.

Morning
"Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it."-1 Thessalonians 5:24
Heaven is a place where we shall never sin; where we shall cease our
constant watch against an indefatigable enemy, because there will be no
tempter to ensnare our feet. There the wicked cease from troubling, and the
weary are at rest. Heaven is the "undefiled inheritance"; it is the land of
perfect holiness, and therefore of complete security. But do not the saints
even on earth sometimes taste the joys of blissful security? The doctrine
of God's word is, that all who are in union with the Lamb are safe; that
all the righteous shall hold on their way; that those who have committed
their souls to the keeping of Christ shall find Him a faithful and
immutable preserver. Sustained by such a doctrine we can enjoy security
even on earth; not that high and glorious security which renders us free
from every slip, but that holy security which arises from the sure promise
of Jesus that none who believe in Him shall ever perish, but shall be with
Him where He is. Believer, let us ofte!
n reflect with joy on the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints, and
honour the faithfulness of our God by a holy confidence in Him.
May our God bring home to you a sense of your safety in Christ Jesus! May
He assure you that your name is graven on His hand; and whisper in your ear
the promise, "Fear not, I am with thee." Look upon Him, the great Surety of
the covenant, as faithful and true, and, therefore, bound and engaged to
present you, the weakest of the family, with all the chosen race, before
the throne of God; and in such a sweet contemplation you will drink the
juice of the spiced wine of the Lord's pomegranate, and taste the dainty
fruits of Paradise. You will have an antepast of the enjoyments which
ravish the souls of the perfect saints above, if you can believe with
unstaggering faith that "faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do
it."

Evening
"Ye serve the Lord Christ."-Colossians 3:24
To what choice order of officials was this word spoken? To kings who
proudly boast a right divine? Ah, no! too often do they serve themselves or
Satan, and forget the God whose sufferance permits them to wear their mimic
majesty for their little hour. Speaks then the apostle to those so-called
"right reverend fathers in God," the bishops, or "the venerable the
archdeacons"? No, indeed, Paul knew nothing of these mere inventions of
man. Not even to pastors and teachers, or to the wealthy and esteemed among
believers, was this word spoken, but to servants, ay, and to slaves. Among
the toiling multitudes, the journeymen, the day labourers, the domestic
servants, the drudges of the kitchen, the apostle found, as we find still,
some of the Lord's chosen, and to them he says, "Whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye
shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."
This saying ennobles the weary rout!
ine of earthly employments, and sheds a halo around the most humble
occupations. To wash feet may be servile, but to wash His feet is royal
work. To unloose the shoe-latchet is poor employ, but to unloose the great
Master's shoe is a princely privilege. The shop, the barn, the scullery,
and the smithy become temples when men and women do all to the glory of
God! Then "divine service" is not a thing of a few hours and a few places,
but all life becomes holiness unto the Lord, and every place and thing, as
consecrated as the tabernacle and its golden candlestick.
"Teach me, my God and King, in all things Thee to see;
And what I do in anything to do it as to Thee.
All may of Thee partake, nothing can be so mean,
Which with this tincture, for Thy sake, will not grow bright and clean.
A servant with this clause makes drudgery divine;
Who sweeps a room, as for Thy laws, makes that and the action fine.

A Throne of Grace
Hebrews 4:1--16
"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we
may ... find grace ..." (v. 16)
We are seeing that one reason some Christians develop a closer
relationship with God is because they know how to avail themselves of
His grace. They realize it is there to be had and they open themselves
to it most eagerly. People who know God intimately view grace as a
treasure above all treasures. It is not that they put no value on the
things of earth, but they see grace as the most precious thing of all.
John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, had a friend called Fletcher of
Madeley -- a deeply spiritual man -- whom Wesley designated as his
successor. He died before Wesley, however, and at his funeral Wesley
took as his text Psalm 37:37: "Mark the perfect man (KJV)." He told of
how on one occasion Fletcher had made a public utterance concerning
the government of the day which had greatly impressed its leaders.
Soon after the Lord Chancellor dispatched a representative to
Fletcher's home to offer him a promotion. The official was at some
pains to hint delicately at his errand and said: "The government would
be very happy to ... er ... oblige in any way if ... er ... there was
anything Mr. Fletcher wanted ..." "How very kind," was the great man's
reply, "but I want nothing ... except more grace." That is the
difference between those who know God deeply and those who don't. They
look at the values of earth in the light of heaven and see that the
only really valuable thing is -- grace. "Let me have that," they say,
"and I am content."
Prayer:
O God, help me look at the values of earth in the light of heaven.
Show me the folly of accumulating riches, the absurdity of heaping
together the treasures of earth. May I come to recognize what has the
highest value of all -- Your matchless grace. Amen.

Believing Heart and Confessing Mouth
If you want fellowship with the church, if you have not formally
joined, there are two ways to do so. One is to pray in public, give
money, show enthusiasm and fill out a card. The other is to do first
things first--join the universal church--and then also fill out a
card. An important part of joining the church is public confession.
Why does the Lord want us to make a public confession? The Bible says,
"The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that
is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with
your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
confess and are saved (Romans 10:8b-10). The heart believes and the
mouth confesses. Both are necessary to salvation. Even the thief on
the cross made his poor pitiful confession. That is why God wants us
to fellowship with each other, get together and tell the world and
tell each other--because with the mouth confession is made for
salvation. My plea is for those who have never undergone the marvel of
the regeneration of new birth to take this seriously. Remember you get
into the ark through the door, and Jesus Christ is the door. If you
reject the ark, you reject the door, and if you reject the door you
perish in the flood.
Verse
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:10
Thought
We are members of Christ's body the Church. Through us, you and me,
Christ wants to reach out to others through our living and our mouths.
Prayer
O Lord, open my mouth to confess You boldly to people I meet. In my
heart I believe but with my mouth I am slow to speak of You to those
who do not know You.

Speaking in Songs
Ephesians 5:19-20: Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and
spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always
giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
The joy and thanksgiving that should be ours as believers should show
itself in our conversation with each other. Speak to each other with
music in your hearts. Not just that we should sing praises to God,
but that the praises in our hearts should color every conversation we
have.

0ne of the most blessed things about divine healing is that the
strength it brings is holy strength. It finds its natural and
congenial outflow in holy acts and exercises.
Mere natural strength seeks its gratification in natural pleasures and
activities, but the strength of Christ leads us to do as Christ would
do and to seek involvement in His holy service. The life of Christ in
a human body saves it from a thousand temptations to self-indulgence
and sin. It not only gives us strength for higher service but also a
desire for it, and puts into that service a zest and spring which give
it double power.
Lord, help us today to claim Thy life, and then give it for help of others.
Have you found the branch of healing?
Pass it on.
Have you felt the Spirit's sealing?
Pass it on.
'Twas for this His mercy sought you,
And to all His fullness brought you,
By the precious blood that bought you,
Pass it on.

To abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this
confidence, I know that I shall abide—Philippians 1:24-25

Wielding prayer as a spiritual weapon
December 12, 2011
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet
of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.
Ephesians 6:16-18
Not long ago, I was talking with one of the men at church about why
people don't pray today. And after going back in forth for awhile, we
both concluded that there's really a simple answer: because most of
them know nothing about spiritual warfare.
You see, understanding spiritual warfare is the key to prayer. One
author wrote, "Prayer is a wartime walkie-talkie, not a domestic
intercom." And it's when we think of prayer as a way of just asking
for more comforts and less trouble that we cease to pray biblically,
and instead pray comfortably.
Another reason I think so many don't pray is because they don't really
have the faith to pray. To them, prayer doesn't really make that much
of a difference. But if they really believed that God moved in
response to their prayers, nothing would keep them from taking their
request to Him!
It's not enough just to have faith to believe in God. You have to
believe God. You have to trust that He will come through when you need
Him, and will never hold back what is good and perfect for you. So
when you pray, pray dangerously and expect a great response from your
Father in heaven!
BIBLICAL PRAYER IS MORE THAN JUST ASKING FOR MORE COMFORT AND LESS
TROUBLE. SO WHEN YOU PRAY, ASK GOD TO DO BIG THINGS AND EXPECT A GREAT
RESPONSE!
As the body without the spirit is dead,
so faith without deeds is dead.

Faith's Check Book, Daily Entry
C. H. Spurgeon

A Quiet Heart
In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
It is always weakness to be fretting and worrying, questioning and
mis-trusting. What can we do if we wear ourselves to skin and bone?
Can we gain anything by fearing and fuming? Do we not unfit ourselves
for action and unhinge our minds for wise decision? We are sinking by
our struggles when we might float by faith.
Oh, for grace to be quiet! Why run from house to house to repeat the
weary story which makes us more and more heart-sick as we tell it? Why
even stay at home to cry out in agony because of wretched forebodings
which may never be fulfilled? It would be well to keep a quiet tongue,
but it would be far better if we had a quiet heart. Oh, to be still
and know that Jehovah is God!
Oh, for grace to be confident in God! The holy One of Israel must
defend and deliver His own. He cannot run back from His solemn
declarations. We may make sure that every word of His will stand
though the mountains should depart. He deserves to be confided in; and
if we would display confidence and consequent quietness, we might be
as happy as the spirits before the throne.
Come, my soul, return unto thy rest, and lean thy head upon the bosom
of the Lord Jesus.
As the body without the spirit is dead,
so faith without deeds is dead.

BLESSINGS FROM THE HEART
Pastor Cecil A. Thompson

OPEN MY EYES!
II Kings 6:17
And Elisha prayed, 'Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.' Then the
LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full
of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
I have had the blessing of knowing a few blind people. At first I was
a little uncomfortable when I was around them. I was worried that I
would say something or do something that would make them uncomfortable
or even irritated with me. On the contrary, they have usually been a
delight to be around. As a matter of fact we have several blind
subscribers to the Daily-E-Votional.
It has been my experience that many sighted people are far more
spiritually blind than some who have lost their physical eyesight. In
a manner of speaking we need to pray that the Lord will open our eyes
to see what is happening around us.
In today's Scripture, Elisha was surrounded by an armed force that was
sent to capture him. Elisha's servant was terrified when he woke and
saw that they were surrounded. It was then that Elisha prayed this
prayer and suddenly the servant could see that God's army was far
superior to the puny human army.
We may be faced with obstacles in our life that seem insurmountable.
It is at these times that we need to pray the God of heaven that He
might open our eyes in order that we can understand God is in control.
Here is the question that we need to ask ourselves: Are we praying for
the Lord to give us sight to see His power displayed?
Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today, trust Him completely
and be a blessing!

Psalm 145:3
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
Four children were engaged in the timeless "My Dad" argument.
Tim said, "My dad works for the largest computer company in the world,
and he travels everywhere."
Kip replied, "Well, my father owns a shipping business with hundreds
of boats, and even airplanes. I get to ride on boats and planes
whenever I want."
Darryl chipped in, "My father works for the government, and he even
gets to talk to the president sometimes. We have security men at our
house all the time."
Stanley stood quietly for a moment, because his father had died not
long before. Finally, he said, "My dad is in Heaven, and gets to see
God every day."
The other boys tried to think of something to say that could top that,
but nothing came to mind.
Nothing can top the Lord our God! He is above all else. Nothing
compares to Him. Therefore, nothing else in this world is more worthy
of our worship and devotion. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be
praised. His glory endures forever.
Prayer: Hear the words of praise, O Lord. Search my heart to see the
love I have for You. Bless me with Your Grace, O God. Amen

Forget Not All His Benefits
"Bless the Lord, O my soul; and forget not all His benefits." Psalm 103:2
Too often in life, I do not take the time to reflect on all that is
mine because God has chosen me as His child. My busy life clouds my
vision and distracts me from seeing Him working in the little things.
When I sit quietly and reflect on my life, I see things that I had
missed, ways in which God was working in my life about which I knew
nothing. Sometimes, it is not possible to see these things
immediately. We need time to pass in order to see the plan that God
had for us all along. These blessings can do nothing but strengthen
our faith in our gracious Father and they help us to trust Him more
and more. That is the purpose of looking back and seeing how He has
led us. We learn that there is nothing with which we cannot trust God.
His love for us motivates Him in all our circumstances. Nothing will
happen in our lives that we will not be able to look back on one day
and bless His holy name for. I will bless Him, for He is good and His
continual
watchcare in my life has proved that to me.
Father, let me never forget all the ways that You have worked in my
life. Help me to look at all circumstances in my life and see how they
are benefiting me. You are so faithful to me! You have led me in
mighty ways and though You work in ways that always mystify me, I know
that I can trust You because You love me. I bless Your name, O Lord!
You are deserving of praise. Amen.

God is GodI am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me
will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me
will never die. John 11:25
Her words were full of despair… "If only you'd been here…" Lazarus was
dead. Her brother was gone. And the one man who could have made a
difference didn't.
Something about death makes us accuse God of betrayal. "If God were
here there would be no death!" we claim.
But if God is God anywhere, he has to be God in the face of death. Pop
psychology can deal with depression. Pep talks can deal with
pessimism. Prosperity can handle hunger. But only God can deal with
our ultimate dilemma—death.
And only the God of the Bible has dared to stand on the canyon's edge
and offer an answer.
Jesus said, "I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me
will live, even though he dies!

Matthew 5:8
'Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.'
Denise wanted to do what was right. She was a good person, and it
never occurred to her that her weight problem might be displeasing to
God. Her friend tried to tell her that it didn't mean God didn't love
her. What she meant was that God likes it best when we take the best
care of ourselves possible, and that extra weight wasn't doing that.
Denise pondered what her friend said to her for a long while, then
resolved to try her best to lose weight. Apologetically, she prayed to
God and asked Him to help her as she tried to set things right. The
prayer of a person pure in heart and full of kindness speaks loudest
into the ear of the Lord.
Today's thought: I wish my heart could teach my mouth to say 'no'!

A Christmas Survival Kit - #6501
Monday, December 12, 2011
The occasion was a city-wide art contest. They were told to paint
paintings on the subject of "Peace." Well, you can understand the
judges were attracted to this beautiful "pastural" scene that a local
painter had painted. You probably didn't know that was a word,
"pastural." Well, it was a green pasture with puffy white clouds and
this beautiful blue sky and a little boy going by with a fishing pole
over his shoulder, little quiet brooks and birds flying around. That
got second place.
First place: well, the picture was of an angry, stormy day at the sea
shore; the ocean was beating against the cliffs. The cliffs were stark
and dark because of the darkness of the storm. The sky in this
painting was angry and black, green and purple. You had to look twice
to even begin to figure out what in the world this had to do with
peace! But if you looked halfway up the cliff, there were these little
baby birds nestled underneath the wing of their mother. They were
sleeping totally oblivious to the storm that was howling all around
them.
Well, now that it's the Christmas season, well it's suppose to be
about peace; but, if you feel the holiday pressure like I do, seems
more like a storm, a stress which leads us right to those birds.
I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "A
Christmas Survival Kit."
Now, our word for today from the Word of God comes from Isaiah 30:15 -
"in quietness and trust is your strength." Now, what a great verse for
the chaos that Christmas has become. You're in the middle of it right
now. The shopping, the entertaining, and getting all the cards out.
"Oh, who did we forget? They sent us a card, we better send them one."
"Who got us a present? We better get them..." Whatever! All of the
church events that are going on, maintaining all the family traditions
that the kids insist on or you do. The guests are coming, family time,
they're flying in, they're driving in. Oh, man, suddenly the Christmas
season seems more like "Stress on Earth" than "Peace on Earth." And
then God speaks, "in quietness and trust is your strength."
Now, if you are going to protect the heart of Christmas and not
succumb to the hassle of Christmas, you're just going to have to
protect a quiet spot at the beginning of each day where quietness and
trust will be your strength. Think about those birds in that painting.
Peace wasn't the absence of a storm; it was peace right in the middle
of it. They found their quiet spot. Well, the secret is the same for
you and me. The more hectic the season is, the harder it is to get
your quiet time with the Lord and you know what? The more you need it.
It would be tragic if Jesus gets lost in the process of you getting
ready for His birthday. If anything, make your time with Jesus more
top priority than ever.
See, Christmas becomes an idol if it crowds out Christ. And you need
to be with Him to keep everything in proportion. Unload your concerns
on Him. Focus on the relationship with Jesus. It's a love relationship
above all else. Eliminate the overload. Ask the Lord if there are
things you can eliminate. Simplify as you ask for His wisdom.
What's your Christmas survival kit? "Quietness and trust is your
strength." It comes from time spent with the Prince of Peace. Who, by
the way, brings peace to the human heart as no one else can. His
legacy He gave to His disciples as they were about to enter into the
hardest days of their life was this: "Peace I leave with you; My peace
I give to you."
Maybe peace in your soul has escaped you like since you were a
teenager. And all the living, and all the accomplishing, and all the
relationships, and all the experiences have never stilled the storm in
your heart. That's because you don't have peace with the God who
created you. We've taken our lives from Him; we've hijacked our life
from Him; we're away from Him. Peace is a person; peace is Christ in
your heart who brings His peace with Him when you invite Him in to be
your Savior from your sin.
What better time to do that than the season that He came because of
you...because of me. Tell Him today, "Jesus, beginning right here and
right now, I give up running my own life. I know You died for me. I
know You're alive, and I am Yours." Our website is there to help you
begin your relationship with Jesus and know that you have. Go check it
out today, will you? It's YoursForLife.net.
He will mend the broken relationship between you and God, and give you
the peace that has eluded you your whole life; a peace that is not
based on what's going on around you, but who's going on inside you.

LOVE
I open my heart to the all-powerful love of God.
The love of God is a powerful force for good. Divine love mends
differences, creates joy and opens hearts and lives to unlimited
blessings.
Love is the foundation of all unity. Where love is, there can be no
differences, separation or inharmony. Divine love allows us to hold to
the truth that only good is at work and that only good prevails.
Love is "the fulfilling of the law," the assurance that there is
something greater to experience, something more to enjoy. Love is
magnetic. It draws to itself every good thing.
I am developing a love consciousness. I feel divine love at work
within me now, causing me to see myself and others in the right light,
the light of love.
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of
the law-- Romans 13:10

**Take words of repentance with you and return to the LORD. - Hosea 14:2,
HCSB*
How do we deal with demandingness? We must repent of it. Our passage today
tells us how. First: "Return to the LORD." The key to ridding ourselves of
anything that is spiritually injurious is to return to God. The pursuit of
God involves a shift away from dependence on one's own resources to
dependence on God. Doing good and correcting wrong behavior does not
automatically make us good people. Obedience is extremely important, but it
must be accompanied by deep, heart repentance.
Second, the passage says: "Take words of repentance with you."This phrase
means that we must put into words a clear description of what we are
repenting of. If we are not clear about what is going on inside us, how can
we repent of it? Next: "Forgive all our sin." Repentance puts us in touch
with God's forgiveness. We can work to bring about change also, but the
greatest catalyst for change is humbly positioning ourselves before God and
asking for His forgiveness.
Then: "Accept what is good, so that we may repay You with praise from our
lips."The thought here is: "Receive us that we may worship You more
effectively."The purpose of all restoration is to worship God. We will be
drawn into true worship when we give up insisting on our own way and learn
to trust God for our own happiness. When repentance moves us from a spirit
of demandingness to absolute trust in God, then we are in the place where
God is able to make our feet like "hinds' feet" and equip us with the
ability to ascend into the heights with Him.
*Daily Prayer*
Tender and skillful Invader of my heart, I yield my stricken being to You
for healing. "Be of sin the double cure."Drain every drop of demandingness
from my being. For I want not only to be better but to be whole. In Jesus'
name. Amen.*

*Galatians 4:4-7<http://www2.luthersem.edu/godpause/daily_view_iframe.asp?#verses>

Kathy Kim was 18 months old when she came from Seoul, South Korea, to
become part of our family. When she was four, the time came for her to
appear in court to finalize the adoption. That morning, with a glowing
smile on her face, she told a neighbor, "I'm gonna get 'dopted today!" In
the judge's chambers she sat tall and proud and listened to the grown ups
talk with big words well beyond her understanding. Then, with almost no
ceremony, we shook hands and the event was over.
"Am I 'dopted now?" she asked.
"Yes, you're now adopted."
"Oh, good."
Her anticipation seemed more dramatic than the actual event itself, which
seemed to matter more to me than to her. When we returned home we had a big
party with decorations and music. Now, that's fulfillment in my book.
Perhaps our anticipation of God's heavenly banquet is extravagant. But, I
predict, the actual celebration will be even better.
*God of our future, fill our hearts with the excitement of anticipating the
good gifts yet to come. Give us a hunger now for the justice and peace and
harmony you will serve in the heavenly banquet. Amen. *

*Galatians 4:4-7 *(NRSV)
4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a
woman, born under the law,
5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive
adoption as children.
6 And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our
hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"
7 So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an
heir, through God.
