*The kingdom - Righteousness, peace and joy *
*They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the
meaning so that the people could understand what was being read. Then
Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who were
instructing the people said to them all, "This day is sacred to the LORD
your God. Do not mourn or weep." For all the people had been weeping as
they listened to the words of the Law. *
*Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some
to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not
grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." *
*Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food
and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that
had been made known to them. *
*Nehemiah 8:8-10, 12 NIV *

*In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if
necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of
your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though
tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the
revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him,
and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice
with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your
faith the salvation of your souls! *

another. *

*Meditation 11/26-12/2: Light shines out of darkness 2 Cor 4:1-6 KJV
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint
not; *
*But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in
craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation
of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of
God. *
*But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: *
*In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe
not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of
God, should shine unto them. *
*For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your
servants for Jesus' sake. *
*For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in
our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the
face of Jesus Christ. *

*Daily Devotional
* Betty Miller shares her daily devotionals which are based
on the book of Proverbs in the Bible.* * * The Wisdom of God*
*Verses for the Day:
Proverbs 19:22(KJV):
22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a
liar.
Proverbs 19:22(AMP):
22 That which is desired in man is loyalty and kindness, and his glory and
delight are his giving, but a poor man is better than a liar.
Thoughts for the Day:*
This *verse *tells us what men expect of other men, and that God considers
our character more important to Him than our circumstances. It* *tells us
that we, as men, desire that other men would be kind and loyal to us. No
one wants to be treated in a wrong manner by others. We all like to be
treated kindly and fairly. The way that we can attain this kind of
treatment is for us to give others this kind of treatment, as the Bible
tells us what we sow, we shall reap. If we are receiving harsh treatment
from anyone, the way to overcome this kind of treatment is to sow good
things back to that person no matter what wrongs they have done to us. If
we cannot sow actual deeds to them, we can sow kind prayers and thoughts
toward them. It is not possible for us to do this in our own selves, as we
must have the power of the Holy Spirit to help us overcome evil with good.
However, when we choose to pursue this path, the Lord will move on the
hearts of others to respond to us differently.
*Galatians 6:7-10
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but
he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith.*
*Romans 12:21: "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."*
We are also commanded of Jesus, our Lord, to love one another and do unto
others as we would have them to unto us.
*Luke 7:31-34:
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also
love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for
sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye?
for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing
again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the
Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.*
If we are children of the Lord on High, then we must act like Him and
reflect His nature in our dealings with others. He then will deal with our
enemies. We do not have to. God is interested in changing our natures
and character to reflect His. The circumstances we go through, give Him
the opportunity to do this. When we choose to act like our Lord, then He
empowers and changes us in each negative circumstance we face, so that we
can overcome in it and become more like Him.
The last half of this scripture in *Proverbs *states that* "a poor man is
better than than a liar." *This just confirms that the Lord is more
interested in our character changing, than our circumstances changing. He
can change our circumstances in a moment of time, but it takes longer for
our character to change. This scripture says it is better to be poor (have
trying circumstances) than to be a liar (have a bad character). We must all
ask God for the grace to change the things in our nature that are not like
Him.
*Prayer for the Day:*
*Dear Heavenly Father, I am thankful for Your love and patience toward me.
Help me to extend that same love and patience to others. Help me to be a
kind and loyal person in all of my circumstances. Open my eyes to see my
own faults so that I might present them to You for the needed changes.
Forgive me for wrong attitudes and change my heart to be like Yours. I
release all those who have caused me pain and trouble to Your care. Be
merciful to them and help them to change also. Lord, give us all Your
grace and mercy in this hour that there is so much evil in the world. I
ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.*

An awesome story
Because of Love (Please read all the way to the end)
A brother and sister had made their usual hurried, obligatory pre-
Christmas visit to the little farm where dwelt their elderly parents
with their small herd of horses. The farm was where they had grown up
and had been named Lone Pine Farm because of the huge pine, which
topped the hill behind the farm. Through the years the tree had become
a talisman to the old man and his wife, and a landmark in the
countryside. The young siblings had fond memories of their childhood
here, but the city hustle and bustle added more excitement to their
lives, and called them away to a different life.
The old folks no longer showed their horses, for the years had taken
their toll, and getting out to the barn on those frosty mornings was
getting harder, but it gave them a reason to get up in the mornings
and a reason to live. They sold a few foals each year, and the horses
were their reason for joy in the morning and contentment at day's end.
Angry, as they prepared to leave, the young couple confronted the old
folks "Why do you not at least dispose of The Old One." She is no
longer of use to you. It's been years since you've had foals from her.
You should cut corners and save so you can have more for yourselves.
How can this old worn out horse bring you anything but expense and
work? Why do you keep her anyway?"
The old man looked down at his worn boots, holes in the toes, scuffed
at the barn floor and replied, " Yes, I could use a pair of new boots.
His arm slid defensively about the Old One's neck as he drew her near
with gentle caressing he rubbed her softly behind her ears. He replied
softly, "We keep her because of love. Nothing else, just love."
Baffled and irritated, the young folks wished the old man and his wife
a Merry Christmas and headed back toward the city as darkness stole
through the valley.
The old couple shook their heads in sorrow that it had not been a
happy visit. A tear fell upon their cheeks. How is it that these young
folks do not understand the peace of the love that filled their
hearts?
So it was, that because of the unhappy leave-taking, no one noticed
the insulation smoldering on the frayed wires in the old barn. None
saw the first spark fall. None but the "Old One".
In a matter of minutes, the whole barn was ablaze and the hungry
flames were licking at the loft full of hay. With a cry of horror and
despair, the old man shouted to his wife to call for help as he raced
to the barn to save their beloved horses. But the flames were roaring
now, and the blazing heat drove him back. He sank sobbing to the
ground, helpless before the fire's fury. His wife back from calling
for help cradled him in her arms, clinging to each other, they wept at
their loss.
By the time the fire department arrived, only smoking, glowing ruins
were left, and the old man and his wife, exhausted from their grief,
huddled together before the barn. They were speechless as they rose
from the cold snow covered ground. They nodded thanks to the firemen
as there was nothing anyone could do now. The old man turned to his
wife, resting her white head upon his shoulders as his shaking old
hands clumsily dried her tears with a frayed red bandana. Brokenly he
whispered, "We have lost much, but God has spared our home on this eve
of Christmas. Let us gather strength and climb the hill to the old
pine where we have sought comfort in times of despair. We will look
down upon our home and give thanks to God that it has been spared and
pray for our beloved most precious gifts that have been taken from us.
And so, he took her by the hand and slowly helped her up the snowy
hill as he brushed aside his own tears with the back of his old and
withered hand.
The journey up the hill was hard for their old bodies in the steep
snow. As they stepped over the little knoll at the crest of the hill,
they paused to rest, looking up to the top of the hill the old couple
gasped and fell to their knees in amazement at the incredible beauty
before them.
Seemingly, every glorious, brilliant star in the heavens was caught up
in the glittering, snow-frosted branches of their beloved pine, and it
was aglow with heavenly candles. And poised on its top most bough, a
crystal crescent moon glistened like spun glass. Never had a mere
mortal created a Christmas tree such as this. They were breathless as
the old man held his wife tighter in his arms.
Suddenly, the old man gave a cry of wonder and incredible joy. Amazed
and mystified, he took his wife by the hand and pulled her forward.
There, beneath the tree, in resplendent glory, a mist hovering over
and glowing in the darkness was their Christmas gift. Shadows
glistening in the night light.
Bedded down about the "Old One" close to the trunk of the tree, was
the entire herd, safe.
At the first hint of smoke, she had pushed the door ajar with her
muzzle and had led the horses through it. Slowly and with great
dignity, never looking back, she had led them up the hill, stepping
cautiously through the snow. The foals were frightened and dashed
about. The skittish yearlings looked back at the crackling, hungry
flames, and tucked their tails under them as they licked their lips
and hopped like rabbits. The mares that were in foal with a new year's
crop of babies, pressed uneasily against the "Old One" as she moved
calmly up the hill and to safety beneath the pine. And now she lay
among them and gazed at the faces of the old man and his wife.
Those she loved she had not disappointed. Her body was brittle with
years, tired from the climb, but the golden eyes were filled with
devotion as she offered her gift---
Because of love. Only Because of love.
Tears flowed as the old couple shouted their praise and joy... And
again the peace of love filled their hearts.
This is a true story.

VERSE:
Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for
I am in trouble. Come near and rescue me; redeem me because of my
foes.
-- Psalm 69:17-18
THOUGHT:
Jesus came to show God's face and rescue us from our enemies.
But today, in difficult parts of the world and in the places many
would least expect it, Christians are under attack. God sent Jesus
to save us ultimately and totally from sin and its power. Let's
pray that our mighty God will work mightily in our world today to
deliver his children from the clutches of tyranny, poverty,
violence, abuse, and ridicule. Let's also pray that God is praised
for doing so!
PRAYER:
Holy and righteous Father, please strengthen all your beloved
children who find themselves under attack. Make your deliverance
for them known and shown in the display of your mighty power. You
are our Redeemer and Savior. In the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Don't Hide Your Emotions
Day 186
Do not try to hide your feelings from your children. You will not be successful!
Think back over the past few days and identify times when you held
back your true emotions and "put on a happy face" for the sake of your
children. Your children are experiencing different degrees of the same
feelings you are. If you cover up your emotions, your children will
follow your example.
One suggestion to help your family communicate their emotions to each
other is with a "Feelings Chart." Write on the chart "Today I feel . .
." and attach a piece of Velcro in the space after "feel." (You may
want to have a space for each family member.) Then, draw faces or
write down emotions on several circles of heavy paper and attach
Velcro on the backs. Include as many different emotions as you can
think of. Remember that younger children may need simpler words and
pictures, but older children and adults will need a wide range of
words to help them better identify and express their emotions.
Here are some ideas, which can be adapted to meet your needs: sad,
lonely, angry, confused, guilty, bitter, rejected, helpless, afraid,
worried, disappointed, resentful, jealous, inadequate, vindictive,
depressed, lost, abandoned, betrayed, sorrowful, better, so-so,
relieved, okay, not bad, hopeful, peaceful, reassured, thankful,
secure, insecure, unloved, loved, encouraged, joyful.
Each day find the emotion that best describes how you feel at any
given time and place that word on the chart. Have your other family
members do this as well.
God promises to be with you through all of your emotional turmoil. He
also promises to comfort, heal, and strengthen you. God's Word is full
of promises for you.
"There hath not failed one word of all his good promise" (1 Kings 8:56 KJV).
Thank you, Father, that You will never fail me. Help me to see the big
picture beyond my tangled emotions. Amen.

What's Your Message?
Lynn Cowell
"Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not
forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart
as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children
after them." Deuteronomy 4:9 (NIV)
My heart breaks as I see my girls struggle. Navigating the waters of
school, I watch as waves of rejection slam against the boats of their
hearts.
Often, I feel like I'm in the storm with them. Why do I feel
vulnerable when I see the tears in their eyes?
Perhaps memories of my own turbulent teen years are not far gone.
Painful remembrances of growing up come to the surface: confusion, a
boy's brush-off, constant over-analyzing myself.
Yet my girls' struggles also bring thankfulness to my heart. I'm so
grateful God sent amazing friends into my life when I was a young
woman. I'll never forget friends who helped me discover that no man -
be it a dad, boyfriend or even a husband one day - could fill the love
gap in my heart. Only Jesus can fill what He created.
I am also thankful God placed me here, in my girls' lives, to share
with them this same truth. You see, when Jesus showed me He was the
only one who can fill the emptiness of my heart, He didn't just give
that truth for me!
Jesus gave me His truth so I can pass His radical love onto my kids
and hopefully my grandkids one day.
As today's key verse tells us, "Only be careful, and watch yourselves
closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or
let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your
children and to their children after them." (Deut. 4:9) We have
opportunity and influence in the lives of your children and others.
What is one truth God has revealed that you can pass on to your
children, your children's children or young people in your world? Are
there revelations or treasures from His Word, glimpses into His heart
that He's given to you? If so, they are not just for your benefit, but
also for the benefit of your family and those in your sphere of
influence.
Has the Lord given you a clear understanding of forgiveness? Teach
your child the process of working through a grudge.
Have you experienced the Lord's healing? Come alongside those in your
life as they mend.
Do you cling to hope because God has lifted your spirits? Share that
with another who's in the middle of grim circumstances.
Let's not take for granted all the Lord has done in our lives.
Instead, let's intentionally ask God to show us our message so we can
naturally share it with others, passing on the truth and stories of
God's faithfulness for generations to come.
Dear Lord, help me be intentional today to share with my children, and
others in my life, all of the truth You have set to work in my heart.
Help me make the most of the message You have given me and pass Your
Word on to the next generation. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Application Steps:
In the next 24 hours, look for an opportunity to share with your
child, or someone you love, one truth the Lord has made real in your
life. When you connect a teaching to a story, it helps stick in the
heart of your listener!
Ask the Holy Spirit to make you aware of times your child is most open
to hearing testimonies from your life. Think of these in advance so
when the time comes, you are ready to share.
Reflections:
God has given revelations to me: treasures from His Word, glimpses
into His heart. He has entrusted those to me not only for my benefit,
but for the benefit of my family and those in my sphere of influence.
Power Verses:
Deuteronomy 6:6-9, "These commandments that I give you today are to be
on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when
you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down
and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them
on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on
your gates." (NIV)

This Day's Thought
Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should
be an exception to the universe. Doth not the thunder praise Him as
it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies? Do not the
mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in
adoration? Does not the lightning write His name in letters of fire?
Hath not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, silent be?

Tears
Listening to the tears of my children is the most
difficult thing I have to do,
is it the same Dearest Heavenly Father for You?
When one of Your children is suffering heartfelt unmitigated pain,
crying out to You in Jesus loving Holy name.
Is Your heart overburdened are You suffering along with them too,
is this one of the most difficult things that You have to view?
As a Mother I know I haven't been perfect there are things
I wish I could change,
but one thing I'm glad for is teaching them to pray in Jesus' name.
Teaching that because I am human there are things their
Mama can't do,
but if they have a need they can always count on You!
I tell them that You never ever make mistakes like their
Mama's apt to do,
and they should pray things go in accordance with your perfect view.
I tell them sometimes we don't know the reasons that
things happen as they do,
but they'll always turn out right if they continue trusting You.
I tell them that You are always listening to everything
they say in prayer,
and that though they can't see You they can believe You're there.
I tell them that each and every one of these things is true,
because I read in the Bible all about You.
I told them they can each seek for themselves to find,
and in so doing will have awesome peace of mind.
Thank You Heavenly Father for the truths written in Your Holy Word,
they are the most comforting and soothing that I have ever heard!
They take away my worries they comfort my fears,
and when I am sad they dry up my tears!
Now; the tears that I sometimes shed,
are not due to sorrow but joy instead.

Angels rejoice around the throne of God
When a sinner that was lost comes home,
They have great joy over those who are found,
Who come to the Savior to never more roam.
Shouting time in glory occurs every day,
As there is joy divine forevermore,
Every moment and hour there is praise and worship,
In that great City beyond the heavenly shore.
The plan of salvation is offered to every man
With a choice to receive the gift of life,
All who receive, only have to believe,
Our Lord will freely take away sin and strife.
Around the throne there is a new song
As the choir of heaven join together and sing,
The redeemed sing a new song and angels rejoice along,
Praise and worship will forever be heard....as joy bells
sweetly ring.

Read | Romans 1:24-25, Psalm 23
Recently I spoke to a heartbroken woman. Her father was
dying, and he was cold toward his family and God. He desired no
contact and refused to discuss any spiritual matter.
But God is able to reach anyone—even someone hostile to
the faith. Consider the apostle Paul's conversion! Yet Scripture also
teaches that the Lord eventually gives people over to the hardness of
their own hearts. There may come a point when He no longer draws them
by revealing their need for a Savior.
The situation is different for believers, though. When we,
in our humanness, continue to sin, the Holy Spirit convicts us so
we'll get back on track. At that point, we can humbly repent and
follow Him or ignore His voice and continue to sin. If we persist in
error, our Father will keep calling us back. But the danger is that
our hearts may become desensitized and eventually we may cease hearing
His warning.
Thankfully, we are children of God, and He loves us too
much to let us remain in a sinful pattern. Though chastisement and
conviction are never pleasant, He knows our travelling down the wrong
road results in much greater heartache. The Lord is a shepherd, using
His staff and rod to lovingly bring us to green pastures.
On the Christian journey, there will be temptations to
stray, falsely promising to satisfy longings. Stay closely connected
to Jesus through prayer and Scripture. Be listening so you can obey
immediately when He calls you to change course. In the long run,
living God's way brings the greatest joy.

Coffee Break
"Family Resemblance"
"And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the
image of the heavenly." 1 Corinthians 15:49
It's not very often that I get to spend much time with my sister, but
we were able to spend the whole day together just the two of us this
weekend. Each time we have been together for any length of time and
are out among the public, I have noticed that we are much more alike
than I thought we were. We both have some of the same mannerisms. We
interact with other people the same way. We have some of the same
characteristics. We think alike, act alike and conduct ourselves in
certain situations the same way- even though in many ways we are
uniquely different.
While my sister and I don't look alike at all, we do tend to act
alike. The reason is obvious-- we are family. I was thinking about
this yesterday and the Lord spoke to me about family resemblance. As
a part of God's family there should be some family resemblance that I
have with my Big Brother (Jesus). I should have the same character
and mannerisms that He has- love, grace, peace, joy. I should
interact with others the way He does- with concern, compassion, mercy,
patience.
The reason these same characteristics are evident in my sister and I
is because we have the same daddy and mama. Jesus and I have the same
Father- I am God's child. Therefore, I should be acting like Him. It
should be said of me- "when you have seen me, you have seen the
Father" (just as Jesus said). I am not saying that when you see me,
you see deity and you don't see a "little god", but you should see His
nature alive in me- the Fruit of the Spirit.
Another reason for the resemblance in our mannerisms is because my
sister and I both grew up in the same house together- we both got our
training, upbringing and influence from the same place. While Jesus
was on the earth He was trained in "God's word" and communed with the
Father through prayer. I am being trained in "God's word" also, and I
have the same communion with the Father that Jesus did- if I am
spending time with the Father in prayer. So, like my sister and I
both grew up under the same influence, Jesus (while He was on earth)
and I are under the same influence- God's word and His Holy Spirit.
This means there should be a family resemblance between us.
Is there a family resemblance between you and Jesus? Do you "look"
like the Father in your mannerisms, in the way you conduct yourself,
in the way you deal with others? Do other people know that you are
part of the family of God by the way you act and speak?
Have a great day. What kind of family resemblance do you bear with
your Big Brother Jesus?

Why Did Jesus Come?
I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly. —John 10:10
This has been a busy time of year for almost everyone. For us as
Christians, it's been a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus. We
marvel at the fact that God humbled Himself and was born in a cave. But why
did He come?
First, Jesus Christ came to proclaim good news to the spiritually hurting,
to preach the good news to us.
He came to heal the broken-hearted. Medical science has found ways to
reduce and even remove pain. But there is no cure for a broken heart.
Jesus came to set people free who are bound by sin. Jesus came to open our
spiritual eyes to our spiritual need.
He came to lift up those who are crushed by life. He came to give us
abundant life. Jesus came to lift us from the physical realm of the senses
to the spiritual realm to show us that there is more to life.
He came to give His life for us. Jesus said, "For even the Son of Man did
not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for
many" (Mark 10:45). He came to die. Jesus Christ came to this earth to
seek and save those of us who are lost, just as a shepherd seeks a lost
sheep.
So in all of this hustle and bustle, wrapping paper, mistletoe, and
brightly colored lights, let's get down to the bottom line. Christmas is
about God sending His Son to die on a cross. He was born to die, to give
us abundant life, to give us a life that is worth living.
Summary sentence: Why did Jesus come?

*A Tiny Seed, A Tiny Deed*
by Max Lucado
"Do not despise…small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work
begin." Zechariah 4:10 NLT
Against a towering giant, a brook pebble seems futile. But God used it to
topple Goliath. Compared to the tithes of the wealthy, a widow's coins seem
puny. But Jesus used them to inspire us…
* Moses had a staff.
* David had a sling.
* Samson had a jawbone.
* Rahab had a string.
* Mary had some ointment.
* Aaron had a rod.
* Dorcas had a needle.
All were used by God.
What do you have? Much more than you might think. God inhabits the tiny
seed. He empowers the tiny deed. Never discount the smallness of your deeds.

*You Make a Difference*
By Holley Gerth
I'm thinking of you this morning, wherever you are, and of the difference
you're making.
You might think it's small.
You might think no one really sees.
You might think you should do something bigger, better, more spiritual.
But lean in and listen close…
The best gift you can offer this world is you.
And that's what you're doing–
just putting messy, glorious, imperfect, made-new you out there.
In your home, your family, your office, your community, your world.
We'd miss you if you weren't there. It just wouldn't be the same. And no
one could take your place.
So keep it up, my friend. Keep giving and loving and living right where you
are.
It matters more than you know, more than you see.
{And you do too.}

PERSONALITY That they may be one, even as we are one.
John 17:22
Personality is that peculiar, incalculable thing that is meant when
we speak of ourselves as distinct from everyone else. Our personality
is always too big for us to grasp. An island in the sea may be but
the top of a great mountain. Personality is like an island, we know
nothing about the great depths underneath, consequently we cannot
estimate ourselves. We begin by thinking that we can, but we come to
realize that there is only one Being Who understands us, and that is
our Creator.
Personality is the characteristic of the spiritual man as
individuality is the characteristic of the natural man. Our Lord can
never be defined in terms of individuality and independence, but only
in terms of personality, "I and My Father are one." Personality
merges, and you only reach your real identity when you are merged
with an other person. When love, or the Spirit of God strikes a man,
he is transformed, he no longer insists upon his separate
individuality. Our Lord never spoke in terms of individuality, of a
man's "elbows" or his isolated position, but in terms of personality
- "that they may be one, even as We are one." If you give up your
right to yourself to God, the real true nature of your personality
answers to God straight away. Jesus Christ emancipates the
personality, and the individuality is transfigured; the transfiguring
element is love, personal devotion to Jesus. Love is the outpouring
of one personality in fellowship with another personality.

"God's Word to You"!
God's Word to You today is found in Galatians 2:17-21
17But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to
be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! 18For if I
rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. 19For
through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. 20I have
been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who
lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21I do not nullify the
grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died
for no purpose.
I know that you know I believe it is only by grace we are saved and not of
our works. Today's verse is a continuance of that proof. We all sin and
fall short the glory of God. What amazes me and is celebrated more at this
time of year than any other is that God loves us enough to not only come to
earth to take us home, but enough to be born in meager circumstances, live
a basic unspectacular life, and the die for us so we can live.
I just want to make a simple statement about this verse and the major truth
it reveals.
If we could do anything to save ourselves then there would be no reason
for Christ to have come. Understand?
me n' God love ya

TRIUMPH IN TRIAL
By M. Stanford
"Always guarded by the power of God through faith. . .. In such a hope keep
on rejoicing, although for a little while you must be sorrow-stricken with
various trials" (1 Peter 1:5,6, Wms.).
There are testimonies, and there are testimonies. Some can testify as to
how God cleared up adverse circumstances for the victory; but others can
testify to the triumph God gave in the midst of difficult circumstances.
The essential consideration is that our Father be glorified in all His
dealings with and for us. How He brings it all about should be secondary to
us.
"If there is a great trial in your life today, do not own it as a defeat,
but continue, by faith, to claim the victory through Him who is able to
make you more than conqueror, and a glorious triumph will soon be apparent.
Let us learn that in all the hard places our Father brings us into, He is
making opportunities for us to exercise such faith in Him as will bring
about blessed results and greatly glorify His Name."
"God has put you in exactly the right crucible to burn up what He sees
needs to be burnt up. Many think 'victory' means getting your circumstances
put right. No! true triumph is within -when in the midst of your
circumstances the Spirit of God can so energize you and strengthen you in
spirit, that you can stand quiet in the thick of it all, and say, 'God is
God,' and know that you are held by Him - which is infinitely better than
all your trying to hold things steady."
"Therefore, my brethren. . . stand fast in the Lord" (Phil. 4:1).
"KNOWN UNTO GOD ARE ALL HIS WAYS"
He knows from the beginning!
He moves forward to a purposed point and a glorious goal.
Man often fails to finish what he begins,
but God never begins what He does not finish.

Heal Past Hurts
by Jane Powell
"You were born with the capacity to believe."
You were born with a capacity for great courage, for trust in
your surroundings and for faith in yourself. But something may have
happened along the way that changed this positive capacity.
If you were criticized at an early age and denied encouragement
by those you trusted you could learn to believe that something was
wrong with you. Over time, such beliefs may appear as the absolute
truth – a definition of your identity.
Guess what? It's simply not true! You are perfect and it's time
to act that way. As hard as it may be to regain your self-esteem, you
can forget and forgive what happened when you were young. You can
regain the courage, trust and faith that are your birthright, by
recognizing that, although youthful disillusionment can't be changed,
it can be overcome.
Treasure your relationships
Relationships - of all kinds - are like sand held in your hand.
Held loosely with an open hand,
the sand remains where it is.
The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on,
the sand trickles through your fingers.
You may hold on to some of it, but most will be spilled.
A relationship is like that.
Held loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person,
it is likely to remain intact. But hold too tightly, too possessively,
and the relationship slips away and is lost.
''Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the
fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something:
they're trying to find someone who's going to make them feel good. In
reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your
relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you
go to take. ''
~~Anthony Robbins
What makes disappointment so disappointing is that you know you
can do better. So instead of sinking too far into the disappointment,
get up, get going, and do better.
The very feeling you have that life can be better is proof
positive that it can be. What you're feeling is your most positive
vision of how life can be, calling to you.
Answer that calling, quickly and decisively. Make something good
and positive and valuable out of the setbacks that have disappointed
you so.
Use your experience to get better, to do better, to become more
effective, to become more determined and committed. Feel the certainty
that you can do better, and let it energize and animate your actions.
Even when you've done great, the great thing is, you can do
better. Always there is the opportunity to do better.
Do all that you know you can do to take that opportunity. And
with each experience, with each passing moment, you do indeed make
life better.
Ralph Marston

*Eternally covered*
*"I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2 (NKJV) *
*Looking at things through the lens of eternity has a way of getting our
hearts and minds on track. It sets issues straight, and this is especially
true when it comes to the issue of worrying about God's ability to provide
for our needs.*
*Look at what Jesus promises in the passage above. He assures His people
that He's going to prepare a place for them. Specifically, we know He's
referring to Heaven, where every single need we'll ever have will be
eternally taken care of and provided for by Him.*
*Most of us don't have a problem with this whatsoever. In fact, when was
the last time you paced back and forth worrying about whether or not you'd
receive what you'd need in God's Kingdom? For the most part, we just assume
that the Lord has enough of everything to go around and that every need
will be met.*
*However, our outlook is often different when it comes to our existence
here on earth. We worry. We second-guess God's ability to provide for us
when it comes to the needs of this life. But think it through: Our lifespan
and all that we will ever need on earth is a blip in comparison to
eternity. Why are we okay with God handling things infinitely but not
temporarily? It makes no sense.*
*Here's what's going to take place: Something is going to happen that will
cause your heart to question God's ability to provide for your needs. When
it does, remember that He's got you covered for all eternity, and that He
who covers you eternally is all the more able to cover you temporarily. *
*Our earthly worry wilts and withers in the light of God's eternal
provision for us. Don't forget that!*
*"But seek first the kingdom of God...do not worry about tomorrow..."
(Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV)*
*
Think About It…
What does this passage reveal to me about God?
What does this passage reveal to me about myself?
Based on this, what changes do I need to make?
What is my prayer for today?

BEING CONFIDENT OF THIS VERY THING
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 1:6 God has chosen us that we might be holy. "For he chose
us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in
his sight" (Ephesians 1:4). God predestined us "to be conformed to the
likeness of his Son" (Romans 8:29). Therefore we may conclude that
what He has begun we may be sure He will perform. God has a plan and
purpose for our life that will be for our good but most essentially
for His glory.
How do we fit into this work of His grace and live day by day that "in
all things He will be magnified" (Philippians 1:20)? First, we must
realize that we are so easily blinded by self-love. We often form too
favorable opinions of ourselves. Thus, we find ourselves with
insincere repentance that has not looked deeply within at "everything
that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles" (Hebrews 12:1).
We are determined to follow fully His leading and empowering of our
lives, but all too often we are guilty of a partial reformation. When
God heard Israel cry out in their trouble, He delivered them from
their distress (Psalm 107:6, 13, 19, 28) only to see them rebel and
murmur, then suffer affliction because of their iniquities.
Often there is evidence in our lives of a hypocritical attachment to
Christ that does not find our faith exercised in the reality of a
devoted life in Christ. We profess faith in Christ but do not find our
faith manifested in a devotion and commitment in our daily walk. Paul
challenged the Christians at Colosse to..."live a life worthy of the
Lord and please him in every way" (Colossians 1:10).
Now how do these things relate to the work God has begun in us and His
desire to carry it to completion?
We must examine the quality of our faith, our love, and our hope. Is
our faith such that it acts in purifying our heart? Is our love
motivated by His love within that constrains us to serve the souls of
men with a pure heart and a contrite spirit? Is our hope so anchored
in Christ and His Word that it carries us triumphantly through the
difficulties we encounter?
For the Holy Spirit to work freely and fully within our hearts, there
must be a surrender of our will and a clean channel through which He
can work. Our own presumptuous self-confident spirit, thinking "we"
can do what only God can do, will hinder our spiritual progress. Our
confidence, if truly spiritual, is only good when it is characterized
by humility, watchfulness, gratitude and zeal. Try your work to see
what kind it is. It must bear His divine stamp and character.
When we are under the authority of His lordship and the working of His
grace, we will feel a deep sense of our unworthiness. We will be
learning to lean fully on His sufficiency in all things and a
determination within our hearts to live only unto the Lord.
Our faith must stimulate us to mortify all sin and seek to be clothed
with the virtues of Christ. Our love must not be only "in word, but in
deed and in truth." Our hope is the anchor of our soul and will keep
us steadfast and true. We can then say with Paul, "I know whom I have
believed, and am confident that he is able to guard what I have
entrusted to him for that day" (2 Timothy 1:12). May we open our
hearts to the full working of His grace so He can bring to maturity
that which He has begun in us.

Repent, Part 1
Hosea 5-8, Revelation 2
Key Verse: Hosea 6:1
Perhaps we should make a list of the "lost words of Christianity." It
seems like some things are not talked about as much today.
Worldliness, for instance, is a forgotten word, erased from usage by
an overemphasis and sometimes misapplication of Christian liberty. Sin
and some of the classic words for it have been dropped from the
vocabulary. Adultery is an "affair" or a "fling," for example. Seldom
do we hear the word repent.
Repent implies the need for change. Something is not right; actually,
something is wrong. The tendency today is to teach how God can meet
man's need, and not so much about how man needs to change. The concept
that God would judge is foreign to the minds of some people yet is
essential to His nature as a God of justice and righteousness.
To the people of Israel, God sent Hosea, a man who became a living
parable of repentance and return. His story is shocking: he was
married to a prostitute whom the Lord commanded he love as the Lord
loved the Israelites (3:1). The reality of Hosea's marriage teaches us
the reality of God's love for His wayward people, for us. We are told,
"'Come, and let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he
will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds'"
(6:1).
That is not what people may want to hear, but it is what we need to
hear. God will work in our lives, sometimes in forceful and unpleasant
ways. His goal is not to destroy but to bring us back to Him.
Examine your life and think about areas in which God wants you to
change. Repentance is not just something of the past. It needs to be a
part of our present.

Interrupting a Miracle
Read Psalm 139:13-18
Since the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, more than 21
million babies have been killed. These verses are an amazing statement
about conception, growth and birth. When a baby is aborted, what
really happens?
First, a miracle is interrupted (v. 14). Fearfully means "I am
trembling with astonishment." By thinking about birth, David also was
contemplating God's attributes. The world has cheapened sex,
conception and birth to the point that it treats pregnancy as a
nuisance, not a miracle. God made us and has covered (protected) us.
The baby in the womb is covered by God. Let's not turn the womb into a
tomb!
Second, a real person is murdered. Today, medical science calls the
fetus a P.O.C. (a product of conception)--a mass of tissues or a
collection of cells. But God calls it a human being, and we had better
be careful how we treat the child.
Third, a divine law is broken (Ex. 20:13). Dr. Gleason Archer,
commenting on Exodus 21:22-25, says that if a fight occurred and it
resulted in a baby being born dead, then the assailant had to pay with
his life. God protected the unborn by His Law. But today it is legal
to kill them.
God gives and takes life--not man. An even greater tragedy awaits us
in this country. Abortion leads to infanticide, which leads to mercy
killing. In some parts of the world, voluntary euthanasia is legal.
God's people need to take a strong stand to protect the miracle of human life
* * *
God loves children and wants to protect them. Rejoice in the miracle
of birth and protect the sanctity of the womb and the lives of unborn
babies. What can you do in your community to take a stand against
abortion?
