Proposed S. Korean Towers Resemble EXPLODING World Trade Center
Towers<http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/blog/?p=7441>

Dec 9th

*A tribute to the Muslim 9/11 attackers?*

The unveiling of pictures of planned luxury residential towers scheduled to
be built in Seoul, South Korea, has sparked instant controversy. The reason
is obvious. The towers, which include a so-called "cloud" feature
connecting them around the 27th floors, clearly resemble the World Trade
Towers in the process of collapsing following the 9/11 attacks.

<http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/blog/?attachment_id=7442>

The designers of the towers, Dutch architectural firm MVRDV, have responded
to the controversy by quickly publishing an apology in
English<http://www.mvrdv.nl/#/news/thecloud>.
"It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks," the
designers insist, "nor did we see the resemblance during the design
process."

They did not see the resemblance during the design process? The problem
with this assertion – apart from its inherent implausibility – is that they
have admitted the contrary in Dutch. Thus Jan Knikker of MVRDV told the
Dutch newspaper *Algemeen
Dagblad*<http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/1012/Binnenland/article/detail/3070681/2011/12/09/Ontwerp-woontoren-brengt-aanslag-9-11-in-herinnering.dhtml>,
"I have to admit that we also thought of the 9/11 attacks." source – Weekly

Criticism of Islam Could Soon be a Crime in America

It couldn't happen here, right? We have the First Amendment, right? Well,
look at how the Second Amendment has been interpreted almost out of
existence in some areas. The same thing could happen to the First -- and
the process is already underway. "Criticism of Islam Could Soon be a Crime
in America," by Clare M. Lopez for Family Security Matters, December 8
(thanks to all who sent this in):

Six years later, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is due to host OIC
Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in Washington, DC in mid-December
2011 to discuss how the United States can implement the OIC agenda to
criminalize criticism of Islam. Cloaked in the sanctimonious language of
Resolution 16/18, that was adopted by the UN Human Rights Council in April
2011, the WDC three-day experts meeting is billed as a working session to
discuss legal mechanisms to combat religious discrimination (but the only
religion the Human Rights Council has ever mentioned in any previous
resolution is Islam). The UN Human Rights Council, which includes such
bastions of human rights as China, Cuba, Libya, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia,
introduced Resolution 16/18 to the UN General Assembly (UNGA), where it was
passed in March 2011.

The Resolution was presented to the UNGA by Pakistan (where women get
the death penalty for being raped and "blasphemy" against Islam is punished
by death). Ostensibly about "combating intolerance, negative stereotyping
and…incitement to violence against persons based on religion or belief,"
the only partnership mentioned in the text is the one with the OIC. The
U.S., whose official envoy to the OIC, Rashad Hussain, helped write Obama's
Cairo speech, actively collaborated in the drafting of Resolution 16/18.

Now, the OIC's Ihsanoglu will come to Washington, DC, the capital of
one of the only countries in the world with a Constitution that guarantees
freedom of speech and a judicial system that consistently defends it, with
a publicized agenda to criminalize criticism of Islam. His agenda, and,
apparently that of his host, the U.S. Department of State, seek to bring
the U.S. into full compliance with Islamic law on slander, as noted above.

Events in the nation's capital seemed timed to ensure Ihsanoglu a warm
welcome. The Center for American Progress (CAP), a think tank aligned with
the Democratic Party and Obama White House, published "Fear, Inc.: The
Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America" in August 2011. Disturbingly
specific in naming individuals associated with speaking truth about the
doctrinal foundations of Islamic terrorism, the report is a blatant assault
on the First Amendment and free speech in America—at least as far as Islam
is concerned.

The Justice Department soon got on board the "Islamophobia" bandwagon.
In the wake of the cancellation of a number of scheduled official training
sessions at national security agencies by deeply knowledgeable scholars of
Islamic doctrine, law, and scriptures, such as Stephen Coughlin, Steven
Emerson, William Gawthrop, John Guandolo, and Robert Spencer, Deputy U.S.
Attorney General James Cole confirmed at an 11 October 2011 press
conference that the Obama administration was pulling back for review all
training materials used for the law enforcement and national security
communities in order to eliminate all references to Islam that Muslim
Brotherhood groups have found offensive....

Read it all.

Imagine computer-designed viruses that cure disease, new bacteria capable
of synthesizing an unlimited fuel supply, new organisms that wipe out
entire populations and bio-toxins that target world leaders. They sound
like devices restricted to feature-film script writers, but it is possible
to create all of these today, using the latest advances in synthetic
biology. Just as the personal computer revolution brought information
technology from corporate data centers to the masses, the biology
revolution is personalizing science. In 2000, scientists at a private
company called Celera announced that the company had raced ahead of the
U.S. government-led international effort decoding the DNA of a human being.
Using the latest sequencing technology, plus the data available from the
Human Genome project, Celera scientists had created a working draft of the
genome.

The rise of artilects (artificial intellects, i.e., godlike massively
intelligent machines with intellectual capacities trillions of trillions of
times above the human level) in this century makes the existence of a deity
(a massively intelligent entity capable of creating a universe) seem much
more plausible. There are now thousands of AI scientists around the world
(concentrated largely in the English-speaking countries) who feel that
humanity will be able to build massively intelligent machines this century
that will be hugely smarter than human beings. The author, for example,
thinks that the issue of whether humanity should build these "artilects"
(artificial intellects) will dominate our global politics this century and
lead to a "gigadeath" war, killing billions of people. These AI researchers
know that 21st century technology will be capable of creating machines with
a bit processing rate trillions of trillions of times above the estimated
human-brain-equivalent bit-processing rate, and that neuro-scientific
knowledge is advancing at an exponential rate.

I'm sure Matt expected that I'd do a quick geoengineering song-and-dance,
and that was my original plan. But the more I thought about the topic,
lying in bed at 4:00 am cursing jet lag, the more I realized that I needed
a different direction. And then I remembered the Brand line, and was struck
by something I hadn't heard anyone else say. "We are as gods—" okay, but *
which* gods? In our generally monotheistic age, we tend to lump all "gods"
and "godlike powers" into a bucket of Almighty Power. But that's not the
way humans have thought of gods until relatively recently; for much of
human civilization, gods were seen as individuals, with their own
personalities, domains, and entries in an AD&D manual. We are gods, but
we're the gods of an earlier age.

*After posting a few weeks back on a Richard Dawkins article specific to
Jesus and Atheism, I was reminded of a post called the New God Argument by
Lincoln Cannon. I first heard this argument at the University of Utah from
Lincoln while visiting the area for a conference. Its logically sound, when
the faith position is adopted. The argument is a derivative or rather an
advancement on Nick Bostrom's Simulation Argument and and Robin Hanson's
Great Filter argument. I've even sited Bostom's 2003 paper in my own
defense after being wrongfully labeled as an atheist. Its one thing to
state that there is no God (atheism) or that we cannot know if there is a
God (agnosticism), and quite another to state that we could create or
evolve into one or a vast many. I think that Lincoln's argument is
progressive and may provide the next wave of theology arguments...

Hillary Clinton: 'Religious Beliefs' Are 'Standing in the Way of Protecting
Human Rights of LGBT People'
By Patrick Goodenough and Susan Jones
December 7, 2011

Clinton gay rights

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton makes a strong plea for gay rights
in at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday, Dec 6, 2011.
She criticized nations that criminalize gay behavior or tolerate abuse of
gay, bisexual or transgendered people, though she did not identify those
nations by name. (AP Photo/Anja Niedringhaus)

(CNSNews.com) - Religious beliefs and cultural values do not justify the
failure to uphold the human rights of homosexuals, Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton told the United Nations in Geneva on Tuesday.

"Now, raising this issue, I know, is sensitive for many people and that the
obstacles standing in the way of protecting the human rights of LGBT people
rest on deeply held personal, political, cultural, and religious beliefs,"
Clinton said.

Her speech at the Geneva headquarters of the United Nations and its Human
Rights Council (HRC) was delivered ahead of Human Rights Day on December
10, the anniversary of the U.N.'s adoption in 1948 of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights.

With Syrian abuses having been at the forefront of the Human Rights
Council's attention in recent days and weeks, Clinton's focus on "LGBT
rights" was unexpected, even after President Obama's signing earlier in the
day of a memorandum which the White House called the "first-ever U.S.
government strategy dedicated to combating human rights abuses against LGBT
persons abroad." (See story)

Clinton said recognition that LGBT people "are entitled to the full measure
of dignity and rights" has evolved over time: "And as it did, we understood
that we were honoring rights that people always had, rather than creating
new or special rights for them. Like being a woman, like being a racial,
religious, tribal, or ethnic minority, being LGBT does not make you less
human. And that is why gay rights are human rights, and human rights are
gay rights."

Clinton noted that among the challenges facing LGBT people is "when people
cite religious or cultural values as a reason to violate or not to protect
the human rights of LGBT citizens. This is not unlike the justification
offered for violent practices towards women like honor killings, widow
burning, or female genital mutilation. Some people still defend those
practices as part of a cultural tradition. But violence toward women isn't
cultural; it's criminal. Likewise with slavery, what was once justified as
sanctioned by God is now properly reviled as an unconscionable violation of
human rights," she said.

"In each of these cases, we came to learn that no practice or tradition
trumps the human rights that belong to all of us. And this holds true for
inflicting violence on LGBT people, criminalizing their status or behavior,
expelling them from their families and communities, or tacitly or
explicitly accepting their killing.

"Rarely are cultural and religious traditions and teachings actually in
conflict with the protection of human rights," Clinton continued. "Indeed,
our religion and our culture are sources of compassion and inspiration
toward our fellow human beings. It was not only those who've justified
slavery who leaned on religion, it was also those who sought to abolish it.
And let us keep in mind that our commitments to protect the freedom of
religion and to defend the dignity of LGBT people emanate from a common
source.

"For many of us, religious belief and practice is a vital source of meaning
and identity, and fundamental to who we are as people. And likewise, for
most of us, the bonds of love and family that we forge are also vital
sources of meaning and identity. And caring for others is an expression of
what it means to be fully human. It is because the human experience is
universal that human rights are universal and cut across all religions and
cultures."

According to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex
Association, homosexual acts are punishable by death in Iran, Saudi Arabia,
Somalia, Mauritania, Sudan and Yemen, as well as in parts of Nigeria under
shari'a law.

Countries whose laws allow for imprisonment of 10 years or more for
homosexuality include Libya, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia,
Malaysia, Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea and Guyana, it says.

A number of other countries have penalties of prison terms of less than ten
years, fines or other restrictions.

'At war with people of faith'

During a background briefing in Geneva, a senior State Department official
was asked about the administration's view on same-sex marriage in the
context of its new policy of promoting LGBT rights worldwide.

President Obama and Clinton have both stated publicly that they oppose
same-sex marriage.

"I think the secretary and the president have both spoken about their
personal views on marriage," the official replied. "And I think that one of
the things that comes up a lot in the international context is that, as in
America, elsewhere there's a ongoing debate about gay marriage.

"But whatever our position on gay marriage, I think one of the things that
many of us have been working toward finding an agreement on is the fact
that no matter what you think about that question, we can all agree that
people ought not be killed or imprisoned for who they are and who they
love," the official said.

Republican presidential candidates Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Sen.
Rick Santorum both criticized the administration's LGBT announcements.

"Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America's
interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers' money," Perry said in a
statement, adding that the policy was "just the most recent example of an
administration at war with people of faith in this country."

"Obviously the administration is promoting their particular agenda in this
country, and now they feel its their obligation to promote those values not
just in the military, not just in our society, but now around the world
with taxpayer dollars," CNN quoted Santorum as telling reporters in Iowa

He said Obama must make his stance on same-sex marriage clear.

"He said he's for traditional marriage, and now he's promoting gay
lifestyles and gay rights and he's fighting against traditional marriage
within the courts, and I think he needs to be honest," Santorum said.

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
Do you remember how I've often told you that the march toward the rise of
the Antichrist will mostly be slow, but inexorable? Remember, too, how I've
said that each new development that paves the way in the end times scenario
will seem imminently logical, rational, even necessary at the moment? In
other words, conditions on the ground will make the decisions taken almost
irresistible.

A recent example of this is the economic chaos currently enveloping our
world. As nation after nation faces fiscal collapse, the calls for a
centralized system to control the chaos are growing. For many -- even some
of the smartest among us -- a single world authority to control the
interlocked global economy seems to be the only solution. Now, the ancient
prophets didn't specify exactly why otherwise sensible and intelligent
people would accept the total authority of a single man in the last days,
they just said that they would. Well, now we can begin to clearly see how
that could happen. And when it does, it will be thought to be totally
logical, rational, even necessary.

Another example of this inexorable move toward the control of the populace
that will be necessary to implement a one-world government occurred right
here in the United States just last week. When all is said and done, it may
not stand as law, but just the fact that it happened is important.

The U.S. Senate last week passed S.1867 by a vote of 93-7. That bill, known
as The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, authorizes
the budget authority of the Defense Department for 2012. Whether or not you
agree with the fiscal make-up or future implications of that budget, here's
the critical part. At the last moment, an amendment, drafted in secret by
Senators Carl Levin and John McCain, was added to the bill. That amendment
authorizes the use of the US military to arrest and detain people --
including American citizens -- suspected of terrorist activities. Here's
where it gets alarming. For the first time, it authorizes the use of US
armed forces for domestic law enforcement within the United States!
Further, it allows the military to hold detainees in military facilities
for indefinite periods, without charges, and without due process.

It's possible that the reasoning followed this line: One of the greatest
weapons that Islamic terrorists -- especially homegrown or newly
radicalized ones -- use against the United States is America's tradition of
domestic liberty and freedom of movement and association. Now before you
fist pump and yell, "Atta boy! Arrest those terrorists wherever you find
them!", consider this: Who determines who's a "terrorist?" In this
amendment, apparently the White House gets to make that call.

Uh-oh. If you take just a quick look at the Department of Homeland
Security's list of potential terrorists, you'll find Christian extremists,
Jewish extremists, anti-immigration extremists, anti-abortion extremists,
tax resisters, members of the alternative media, gun owners, former members
of the military, and people who stockpile gold or silver. I don't think the
"Tea Party" is listed, but it someday might be. Just this week in England,
for instance, the government designated some members of the "Occupy London"
movement as domestic terrorists.

Hopefully, the media exposure and public outcry will get this provision
removed from the final bill, but it nonetheless illustrates how easily
these kinds of repressive measures can be implemented. It must have seemed
"logical, rational, even necessary" since 93 of our 100 senators voted in
favor of it.

The Middle East seems to be headed for war. Here's a brief look at recent
developments: The latest statements by the leaders of Israel, Syria, Iran,
and Hezbollah suggest that both sides are not just poised for war in the
next few weeks, it's a forgone conclusion. Both Israel and Syria are
conducting intensive war games exercises. Israel's air force is also
conducting long-range training missions with NATO forces based in Italy.

The United States has moved an aircraft carrier and strike force into the
Mediterranean opposite Syria. Russia responded by airlifting 72 of its
lethal ship-killer missiles to Syria and dispatched its only aircraft
carrier and support group to lie off the Syrian coast. The US then withdrew
its carrier from the danger zone, but has apparently moved another carrier
group into position off the coast of Iran.

Several international newspapers are reporting that Saudi Arabia is so
concerned about the progress of Iran's nuclear weapons program that it has
secretly agreed to allow Israel's air force to overfly its territory in a
strike on Iran. In fact, observers say that the Saudis have actually
practiced "standing down" their air defense system.

Analysts report that the United States also seems to be stepping up its
expansion of military ties with the Persian Gulf states that oppose Iran.

I don't believe that what we're seeing take shape now will become the
predicted "Gog-Magog" war. This means that whatever action Israel and
others may take against Iran will still leave it a viable nation. The Bible
says that Iran will later join a military confederacy with Russia against
Israel. Also, Ezekiel says that at the time of the Gog-Magog war, Israel
will be living in peace and security without feeling the need for "bars nor
gates." Obviously, that does not describe Israel's situation today -- or
any other day since its founding in 1948.

It's possible that if Israel strikes Iran and scores a military victory, it
will experience the same post-victory response that the United States
experienced after the Gulf War in 1991. Though most of the Arab world hated
and feared Saddam Hussein -- and cheered when we defeated him -- the ease
with which we accomplished the victory inspired both fear and jealousy.
Some of those who sided with us then are our adversaries now. And since
Israel already has so few friends and allies in the world, if it "defeats"
Iran and suffers the same post-victory alienation, it will probably become
totally isolated from the world. And that will make it an even more
compelling target for its enemies -- just as the ancient prophets foretold.

Finally, this week I want to continue my short series of Christmas
meditations. I'm going to address a question that seems too simple to ask,
yet may be deceptively complex to quickly answer: "Who is the Son of God?"

The perspective I provide this week may help make this Christmas season
even more meaningful for you and your family.

Don't miss this week's Report on TBN, Daystar, Inspiration, CPM Network,

PLANNED PARENTHOOD CHAPLAIN EXPOSED [Excerpts]

A man identifying himself as Vincent Lachina claiming to be "an ordained
Southern Baptist minister" with Mississippi roots turned up in Tupelo at a
public hearing in early August on Initiative 26, also known as the
Personhood Amendment that would define human life as beginning at the
moment of fertilization.

Lachina roundly denounced Initiative 26, which appeared on the Nov. 8
statewide general election ballot, and said, "I wish to say quite clearly
that I am both an evangelical Christian and I am committed to a woman's
right to her own reproductive choices.... I consider myself both pro-choice
and pro-life, and I see no conflict in those two convictions."

Strange as that sounded to the crowd at the hearing, Lachina's choice of
garb was even more mystifying. He was dressed in a lavender shirt with a
clerical collar -- the first time any of the Mississippi Baptists at the
hearing could remember seeing such an outfit on a "Southern Baptist
minister."

Jacob Dawson, assistant new media director for AFA.net, a division of
American Family Association in Tupelo, was attending the hearing and grew
suspicious. As Lachina continued to speak, Dawson opened his laptop
computer, connected to the Internet through a local wireless network, and
conducted a search.

Dawson would tell the crowd a few minutes later that the Vincent Lachina
standing at the podium in Tupelo was actually Vincent Lachina from Seattle,
a homosexual activist and chaplain for Planned Parenthood, the nation's
largest abortion provider.

The website of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest in Seattle did
indeed contain a profile describing Lachina as its chaplain -- at least
until shortly after his exposure in Tupelo. The organization swiftly
deleted information about Lachina but David Schmidt, writing on the
pro-life website LiveAction.org, was able to locate the original text on a
cached Google page.

While Lachina claimed in Tupelo to be an ordained Southern Baptist
minister, the deleted Planned Parenthood webpage dug up by Schmidt revealed
that, "He is now aligned with the more progressive American Baptist
Conference and Church of Christ."

In addition, Lachina personally identifies himself as an "American Baptist
clergyperson" in a video on YouTube.com.
