Thought for Today,

It is good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good
too, to check up once in a while and make sure you haven't lost the things
money can't buy.

A Priest And A Bus Driver

A priest and a bus driver both died and went to heaven at the same time.
They get to the pearly gates where St. Peter greets them.

He motions to the priest, they go out the back door and both hop in a jeep.
There are about 50 acres of rolling hills with a little cottage on the knoll
St. Peter turns to the priest and says "This will be yours for eternity. A
perfect little cottage, right next to a wishing well. Anything you wish on
that wishing well will come true guarantied."

The priest says, "Oh, thank you so much. This I shall enjoy!"

St. Peter drops off the priest, goes back to the pearly gates and motions to
the bus driver. They go out the front door hop in a stretch limo and drive
off. There are about 500 acres of land, with mountains and lakes and rivers.
There is a huge castle on one of the mountains with about 200 rooms. St.
Peter says "This will be yours for eternity. You can live in that castle
with servants to wait on you hand and foot, and you can have everything you
want."

The bus driver looks and St. Peter and says "Well, now, don't think I'm not
grateful, but shouldn't the priest get all this, not me? Shouldn't I get the
cottage and 50 acres instead?"

St. Peter just laughs and says "The reason you get all this is because when
the priest preached, everyone fell asleep. When you drove your bus, people
prayed!"

Am I Happy?

If there is any sadness I make a strong effort to be free of it quickly,
otherwise it grows like a vine in the rainy season: by midday I will be
confused, by evening a whole jungle of weak, wasteful and negative attitudes
will have taken deep roots in my mind. The result equals chaos. Sometimes I
reach a stage where the attitude is: "So what if I feel the blues today? It
is my life, no one else will be affected". Firstly, the more I allow myself
to experience sorrow, the less time I have available to be happy and
contented. It sounds ridiculously obvious, but am I aware of the value of
happiness? It is an extremely rare commodity, and the cost goes sky high.
Secondly, is it my life? Yes, I am living it, but am I not a member of a
family or a co-worker with others, and am I not part of society? If so, then
every movement affects and is affected by those around me.

More or less
+++++++++++++++++++

If you resent those who have achieved more than you, that
Blocks your own path to achievement. If you feel superior to
Those who have achieved less, your own achievements will
Quickly crumble.

There is more than enough of life's abundance for everyone.
There is nothing to be gained by placing judgments on those
Who tap into more or those who tap into less of that
Abundance.

Every person expresses life's abundance in his or her own
Way. Every person is at a different point on the journey,
And each journey is unique.

Choose to be inspired instead of intimidated or resentful.
Focus on creating your own special manifestation of goodness
And abundance.

Joyfully celebrate the good fortune of others. Graciously
Accept and appreciate the value that their accomplishments
Add to all of life.

Then envision your own next accomplishment. And with a
Thankful heart, bring that vision to life.

~~Ralph Marston
