One of the most awesome things about God is that he knows you by name. He
knows everything about you. He knows your secret thoughts. He knows what
you are doing every moment of every day. He knows you so intimately that He
has every hair on your head numbered! A little overwhelming, isn't it?
Most of us are pretty private people, even those who seem to be so open and
transparent to the world. We have thoughts we wouldn't share with our best
friends. We do things we'd just as soon no one knew about.... not
particularly bad things, just private things. things that belong only to us.
Well, they're not as secret as you try to think. because God knows.
Have you ever done something that you really felt bad about, really guilty?
As a matter of fact, it was so bad, you couldn't even pray about it?
Couldn't ask forgiveness? Sinking head-long into the ostrich syndrome, you
figured that if you didn't tell God about it, He wouldn't know? Silly, huh?
God knows. He knows your name. He knew you in the womb. He knows your
every thought, your every action. But He's not Big Brother. He doesn't use
that knowledge to hurt you. He loves you. You are precious to Him. He
wants to have a personal, intimate relationship with you... more personal
and more intimate than any human relationship could ever be. Open yourself
to the knowledge that God knows you. Be ready when He speaks to you.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I
consecrated you;..." Jeremiah 1:5 NIV
O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when
I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my
lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my
tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in - behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I
flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I
make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the
dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will
guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness
will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will
not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as
light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit be together in my
mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden
from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in
the depths of the earth, you eyes saw my unformed body. All the days
ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
