Whatever we do, we're to do it with an eye not only on this
world but on God's kingdom. There will always be some consequence for
our actions, sooner or later. This is a spiritual law. This is why God
has no favourites; all are subject to the spiritual law that what you
sow you will reap. The thing is, the consequences, both good and bad,
are not always immediate. We will receive an inheritance, and we will
be paid back for wrong. All is future – sooner or later. Consequences
are inevitable; make sure you receive the good ones!

Are You Willing To Look Within Yourself?

Are you willing to take a deep look within yourself today
This is something we should do each day
We may not always like what we see
But in order for us to mature and grow and be planted like a tree
There are things we need to know about ourselves

Stop blaming others for what you see
Have the heart and desire to be set free
We must be honest with ourselves
Thank God for your strength and health
Do not focus just on the negative things
Trust God to be your everything

If we fail to plan, we plan to fail
It is time we sell
Out for our LORD and Savior
Be grateful for the favor
He gives unto each of us

It is time to stop hiding from ourselves
Know that you are more than a conquer and you shall win
At everything you do
As long as you serve our God with a heart that is pure and true
Let Him fight your battles for you
He is the one who will see you through
Don't be afraid of what you see
Facing it will set you free

If I focus on what I am not, I will never know who I am. It is nothing
wrong with doing a personal inventory, but not to the place where it
depresses us to see who we really are. Today to find out something I am
not, gives me room to grow.

I know that I am not perfect, but I am becoming who God wants me to be. We
should not be comparing ourselves to any one. You were wonderfully made by
our God. Each of us is unique. There are no two people who are just alike.
I have been told that twins have different DNA's. We have to find our
uniqueness and accept ourselves. We will never love anybody, if we cannot
learn to love ourselves. We will only be as good to others as we are to
ourselves.

Some times we can be our worse enemy! In stead of focusing on what you do
not see in yourself, begin to focus on the good things about yourself. I
have done a lot of soul searching this year. I have found a lot of areas
where I need to grow. Today, I know that God uses who He chooses. My
imperfection's today does not throw me out of the race. It gives me an
opportunity to continue to mature spiritually. It gives me an opportunity
to love others unconditionally. It gives me an opportunity to be more like
Jesus. We can all make this personal today. ARE YOU WILLING TO LOOK WITHIN
YOURSELF?

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are
wonderful. Psalm 139:14

Every word of God is tested; he is a shield to those who take refuge
in him. Add nothing to his words, lest he reprove you, and you be
exposed as a deceiver. Proverb 30:5-6

He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick,
nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for
those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust
from your feet 3 in testimony against them." Luke 9:3-5

Piety
Suscipe by St. Ignatius of Loyola

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to
me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what
you will. Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for
me. Amen.

Study
Nothing. Else.

The implication that flies off the page to me today is the strong
message that we are to fully rely on God and the Word. Add nothing
else so we do not put our interpretation upon the Word – possibly
misleading others. Then, when we go out into the word, bring nothing
else along. Maybe we should hold hands and stick together as Robert
Fulghum (Author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in
Kindergarten) advises, but Jesus instructs us to take nothing else but
our companion for the journey.

How many of us have recently taken a summer vacation or other short
trip? What did you pack for that journey? Clothes. Bathing suit.
Sunblock. Digital camera. Computer. Battery. Charger. Books. Music
player. Beach chairs and blankets and towels. Games. Cards. Bikes.
Food for the car. Food for the room while away. And once we got to
wherever we were headed, we bought more stuff. Some disciples we would
make!

"Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor
food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic."

Action
Every word of God is tested. How about you? Are your words all tested
before they go out? Are your actions? Is your life?

What is your test? The Suscipe by St. Ignatius of Loyola presents us
with a test that seems well-related to today's readings. If we are to
take the Challenge of Nothing, then the only option is to get rid of
everything else.

Offer back to the Lord everything else… your freedom, your mind, your
desires, your stuff. Can we face life and live out this prayer? Can we
accept only God's love and grace? Is that enough for you and me?

What can you offer back to the Lord today?

Courage is what happens when your desire to make positive progress is
greater than your fear of a negative setback. Courage is what happens when
you look at those fears, listen to them, learn from them, use them to
prepare, and then move boldly forward.
Courage is how problems are turned into opportunities. Courage is why some
people are able to move the situation forward though there seems to be no
hope.
Courage is when you do what you know is right, even if it is the more
difficult and unpopular choice. Courage is something that builds new
strength each time it is exercised.
Courage is not something that you must obtain or struggle to develop.
Courage is a choice that can be yours the moment you decide to use it.
When the goal is worthy and filled with meaning, the courage to reach it
will be there. When your sense of purpose is strong and clear, your courage
will be too.
Courage is indeed a powerful way to live. And you can choose it every time.

When you can clearly see where you're going, you greatly improve your
chances of getting there. The more clearly you can visualize your goals, the
more likely you are to reach them.
Pursuing a vaguely defined objective is like traveling through a thick fog.
It's slow and difficult to make any progress, and even when you arrive you
may not know you're there.
Yet when your goals are clear, specific, and filled with rich detail, all
kinds of great opportunities for moving toward them will continue to come
into view. Your progress will be swift and sure, and you'll enjoy
increasingly abundant rewards as you draw closer to them.
If you're putting forth the effort to get somewhere, take the time to
determine exactly where it is, what it will look like, and how it will be.
Get clear on your goals, and you'll find plenty of ways to achieve them.
Keep your goals clearly in sight by reminding yourself of them on a
continuing basis. Experience them often in your own mind, and you'll soon be
experiencing them in the reality of the outer world.
Rise above the fog of fuzzy wishes, and make your intentions clear and
specific. That will point you solidly toward wherever you want to go.

MAKING PROMISES YOU CAN KEEP -- 1 Samuel 1:11 NIV

And she made a vow, saying, "O LORD Almighty, if you will only look upon
your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give
her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life,
and no razor will ever be used on his head."

This is a tough one. I bore two sons, and have acquired five daughters,
another son, several sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, and we're now looking
forward to the arrival of our 19th grandchild! And they are - each and
every one - the most precious things in my life. I had no trouble
conceiving either of my sons, and I have never wanted anything so badly as I
wanted each of them. And I have never loved anyone so much as I love each
of them. Although they're both grown and living their own lives now, I
cannot imagine having given one of them up when he was a tiny boy, to send
him to live in another city with someone else where I could only see him
once a year. It's difficult enough to let them go when they are grown. The
pain of giving them up as children would have been incredible. But that's
exactly what Hannah did. She did it because that is what she promised God
she would do if He would only allow her to have him. She made a commitment
to God... and she kept it.

The first thing we need to realize is that God is not someone with whom you
can negotiate. He doesn't take bribes. He can't be bought off. He can't
be cajoled or manipulated or convinced with fancy sales techniques. He is
God Almighty. He will do what He will do, and you and I don't get a vote,
much less have any influence on His decisions. What He does for us is
through His infinite grace because He loves us more than we can imagine.
There is no other reason. But many times we forget that. Many times we
turn to God and make promises... promises we can't keep... or promises we
could keep but conveniently forget about the moment our prayers are
answered.

Think about how you feel when your child promises to do something if you'll
only do this one thing for him. So you grant his request, and he blithely
goes his way, failing to remember his promise. There are many teenagers out
there who will be lucky to make it to adulthood because of that very type of
behavior! So how do you think God feels when you do the same thing?

The next time you're tempted to make a promise to God, weigh that promise
carefully. Make sure you intend to keep it.
