A NEW CREATURE
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things
passed away; behold, new things have come
Dan and Cindy were a fine young Christian couple who were preparing for
ministry on the mission field. Then tragedy struck: Cindy was raped. As
hard as she tried to get back to normal life, Cindy couldn't shake the
horrible memories and feelings from her experience.
Six months after the tragedy, Dan and Cindy attended a church conference
where I was speaking. During the conference Cindy called me in tears.
"Neil, I know God can turn everything into good, but how is He going to do
that?"
"Wait a minute, Cindy," I said. "God will work everything out for good, but
He doesn't make a bad thing good. What happened to you was evil. God's good
thing is to show you how you can walk through your crisis and come out of
it a better person."
"But I just can't separate myself from my experience," she sobbed. "I've
been raped, Neil, and I'll be a victim of that all my life."
"No, Cindy," I insisted. "The rape happened to you, but it hasn't changed
who you are, nor does it have to control you. You were the victim of a
terrible, ugly tragedy. But if you only see yourself as a rape victim for
the rest of your life, you will never be free. You're a child of God. You
can't fix the past, but you can be free from it."
All of us have a number of hurtful, traumatic experiences in our past which
have scarred us emotionally. You may have grown up with a physically,
emotionally or sexually abusive parent. Any number of traumatic, emotional
events can clutter your soul with emotional baggage which seems to limit
your maturity and block your freedom in Christ. You must renounce the
experiences and lies that have controlled you and forgive those who have
offended you.
As a Christian, you are primarily the product of the work of Christ on the
cross. You are literally a new creature in Christ. The "old you" is gone;
the "new you" is here.
Prayer: Father, thank You for working all things for good in my life, even
the effects of evil attacks meant for my harm and destruction.

Read Genesis 22 – 24
Highlights:
Abraham's willingness to offer Isaac; the Covenant of God renewed; Sarah's
death; Rebekah's marriage to Isaac.
After 25 years of waiting for the promised son, God said to Abraham: Sarah
thy wife shall bear thee a son . . . thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I
will establish My Covenant with him (Gen. 17:19). It came to pass after
these things, that God . . . said unto . . . Abraham. . . . Take . . .
thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of
Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering (22:1-2).
Isaac was a young man when Abraham faced this very difficult test of his
faith. A burnt offering sacrifice was always to be a male animal, was to be
the best the offerer had, and was to be wholly consumed by fire. It was an
expression of complete dedication to God. Abraham knew that Isaac must live
since God had said: I will establish My Covenant with him (17:19); yet, now
the command of God was to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. Obediently and
without hesitation, Abraham rose up . . . and took . . . Isaac his son, and
clave (split) the wood for the burnt offering . . . and went unto the place
of which God had told him (22:3). With unquestioned faith in God, Abraham
said unto his young men, Abide ye here . . . I and the lad will go yonder
and worship, and come again to you (22:5).
On Mount Moriah, Abraham built an altar. When Isaac inquired how they could
offer a sacrifice without a sacrificial animal, Abraham responded: My son,
God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering (22:8). Abraham's many
years of trusting in the Lord gave him faith in God. This is an amazing
testimony of how Abraham's faith had grown over the years until he knew
that God never makes a mistake and he believed God was able to raise him
up, even from the dead (Heb. 11:19).
As Abraham . . . took the knife to slay his son. . . . the Angel of the
LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham. . . . Lay not thine
hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that
thou fearest God. . . . Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked (saw) . . .
a ram (male goat) caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and
took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead
(instead) of his son (Gen. 22:10-13). Abraham's offering of Isaac on Mount
Moriah foreshadowed God the Father offering His Son, Jesus Christ, on the
cross on that same mount about 2,000 years later. Abraham's prophetic
words: God will provide Himself a lamb (22:8) were more fully understood as
God provided the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John
1:29). Through trials and suffering, the Lord develops our faith. God . . .
will not suffer (permit) you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will
with the temptation also make a way to escape (I Cor. 10:13).
Thought for Today:
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac. . . . Accounting
that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead (Heb. 11:17,19).
Christ Revealed:
Through Isaac's submission to his father and his willingness to be offered
(Gen. 22:7-10). Jesus willingly offered His life. I lay down (give up) My
life. . . . No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself (John
10:11-18).
Word Studies:
22:1 tempt, test, prove; 22:3 clave, split; 22:12 fearest, do reverence,
are unconditionally surrendered to; 22:14 Jehovah-jireh, the Lord will
provide; 23:17 were made sure, were deeded; 24:60 seed possess the gate,
descendants overcome and be victorious over.

Genesis 11
God responds to the construction of the Tower of Babel.
INSIGHT
To understand the Lord's response to the people building the tower of
Babel, consider the command God gave Noah and his descendants in Genesis
9:1: "So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: 'Be fruitful and
multiply, and fill the earth.' "
In apparent disobedience, the people stayed in one place and began to build
a monument to themselves. In response, God confused their languages and
scattered the people over the face of the earth.
God deals with disobedience in different ways. Sometimes He lets us go our
own way and suffer the natural consequences of our sin. At other times the
issue is a major part of His program, and it cannot be ignored.
Disobedience always has a price, and in the end God always has His way.
Obedience, then, while not always easy, is always wise. God always acts for
the ultimate benefit of His children.
PRAYER
· As you consider the love of the Lord, who disciplines us only for our
good, offer Him this psalm of praise:
O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth (Psalm 8:1).
· Now pray this confession to the Lord to keep your life free from sin and
in fellowship with Him:
The chastisement for my peace was upon You,
And by Your stripes I am healed (based on Isaiah 53:5).
· As you confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind, voice
your affirmation of God's Word:
I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life (John 8:12).
· As you make your requests known to the Lord, pray for:
· faithfulness with your talents,
· your state and local leaders and civic affairs,
· today's activities.
· Now offer this prayer of worship to the Lord:
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever (Psalm 23:6).

Jesus was a Workplace Minister
"Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James,
Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took
offense at him." (Mark 6:3).
In 2005, a movie entitled The Passion was released that chronicled the last
twenty-four hours of Jesus' life. During a flashback scene, Jesus was seen
in his carpentry shop making a table with his mother standing by playfully
observing. It was a very beautiful scene that reminds us that Jesus was a
carpenter for most of his adult life. In fact, Jesus was more qualified to
be a carpenter than the Son of God in the eyes of the people because that
is the history they knew of this young working class man from Nazareth.
Consider that in the New Testament of Jesus' 132 public appearances, 122
were in the marketplace. Of 52 parables Jesus told, 45 had a workplace
context. Of 40 miracles in the book of Acts, 39 were in the marketplace.
Jesus spent his adult life as a carpenter until age 30 before he went into
a preaching ministry in the workplace. And, 54% of Jesus' reported teaching
ministry arose out of issues posed by others in the scope of daily life
experience. Saint Bonaventure said, "His doing nothing 'wonderful' (his
first 30-years) was in itself a kind of wonder."
Work, in its different forms, is mentioned more than 800 times in the Bible
-more than all the words used to express worship, music, praise, and
singing combined. God created work and He is a worker. "My father is always
at his work to this very day, and I too, am working" (John 5:17).
So, the next time you are tempted to minimize your daily work as anything
less than a holy calling, remember that Jesus was a workplace minister as a
carpenter in his community. He has called you and I to reflect His glory in
our work.

~GIVING JESUS FIRST PLACE~
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and
his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you."
----Matt. 6: 33
* * * * * * * * * * * *
Michael Guido tells the story of a millionaire who bought one
of Whistler's pictures on the condition that Whistler would
come and personally place the picture in his home.
When Whistler got to the millionaire's home, the man told
him to hang the picture. "First, said the artist," remove
all the furnishings in the room. Second, hang the picture
where it is displayed in the room. Then, arrange the furniture
around it."
That is the way it should be with our blessed Lord. There are
many people who give Jesus a place as resident, but not as the
president of their life. Many have a religion of convenience
and not conviction. However, the Bible tells us to seek
the Lord first and His kingdom, and then all the
things needed will be added unto us. We are to let
Jesus be Lord of all, and live the life He wills for us, by
walking in the Spirit of the Lord.
May our prayer be for the Lord to come and fill every part
of our lives. May He govern all our actions and make us
right in all of our conversation and lifestyle. When we give
the Lord first place in our lives, we find everything will be alright
in Christ. As one writer said, "Jesus is either Lord of all or not
our Lord at all." Will the song of our hearts be "I surrender all?"
Blessings In Christ,

Praying for Boldness
"Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak
your word with great boldness. After they prayed they were all filled
with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly." (ACTS 4:29,
31)
Scripture Focus: Acts 4:1-31
I invited my friend to church, praying my pastor or someone else would
lead him to salvation through Jesus. Church didn't seem to do much for
him. The next time we talked he said, "I know I need Jesus in my life.
I should have accepted Him last Sunday."
At first I was too timid to say anything, afraid of rejection. I
prayed, "Lord, overcome my fears. Give me courage to speak boldly."
Then I told him to ask Jesus to come into his life right then. He
prayed, "Jesus, forgive my sins. Please do come into my life. I open
my heart to you. Thank You for dying on the cross for me and forgiving
all my sins. Help me to follow Your plan for my life."
We often lack the courage to tell people about Jesus. We fear
rejection and ridicule. Or we're afraid we won't say the right thing
and goof it all up. We may not have all the answers to the questions
they might ask. We need to pray the same prayer the early believers
did and be assured that our confidence in who Jesus is and what He has
done in our lives will spur us on.
Insight: When we ask God to help us talk to people about Jesus, we
receive boldness and blessings. some will even open their hearts to
him.

Hallowed Moments
In hallowed moments, I am one with the Divine.
Often we are separated from objects considered too valuable to touch--
artwork, sculpture, relics from antiquity--but communing with the
truly sacred is an experience of touching the Divine.
I close my eyes, take a gentle breath and leave the clutter and
clatter behind. I remember a holy moment full of love and oneness. I
rest in the quiet chapel of my mind and heart.
In the stillness I feel the presence of pure Love. Enfolded in this
Love, my heart opens ever wider until there is no "me and Love," there
is only "Love." Time stops and I am ageless. I am Love and every
possibility of Love. I rest in this hallowed moment until a thought
stirs me back into the world.
O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell, and the place where your
glory abides. --Psalm 26:8

Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after
day.
( PSALM 96:2 *NIV )
As you know Hymns are part of most Worship Services today, and; How
good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to
praise Him! Therefore we are to; Sing to God, sing praise to His
name, extol Him who rides on the clouds His name is the Lord and
rejoice before Him.
( Psalms 147:1 & 68:4 )
Now have you ever wondered when music became part of our
Worship? Well, Moses and the Israelites sang the first song to the
Lord ( Exodus 15:1-18 ) However King David played a major role in
bringing Hymns to the Temple, for he wrote most
of the Psalms or "Songs," found in the Book of Psalms. The words of
those ancient Hymns are found in our Bibles, however the actual music
has been lost through the ages.
So; Let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock
of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanks-giving and extol
Him with music and song. ( Psalms 95:1-2 ) Just as God's Children
have been doing for thousands of years now!
Have a Wonderful week worshipping our loving Lord, singing songs as
we praise our Heavenly Father! Amen.

Pastor Allen

VERSE:
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate
on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything
written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
-- Joshua 1:8
THOUGHT:
We need to be reminded, just like Joshua and the Israelites,
that God gave us his Law to be a blessing to his people. The Law
was given to help Israel live the will of God in their daily lives.
If they would live God's way, he promised they would be blessed. In
addition, God is the Creator. He knows the best way for humans to
live in harmony with the principles of his universe. His Law was
not intended to hinder or interfere with the happiness and
experience of his people. Instead, it was to help them prosper and
find success in life. As Paul repeatedly reminds us in Galatians,
we are no longer under Law. But, as we live by the Spirit, the
character that is produced reflects the character of Jesus, the one
who fulfilled the Law and brings us the blessings God has intended
all along. Bottom line: Following God's will and living his
character is a blessing to us!
PRAYER:
Loving Father, thank you for speaking your will in human words
so I can better know how to live for you. I know obeying your will
blesses me and those around me. Empower me with your Spirit so that
your character and grace will be fully realized in my life and my
example. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

His Love
Day 214
When you surrender your life to Christ Jesus, you become wholly aware
of His great love for you. Your past sins are wiped away, and you can
be assured that He will never leave you.
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come
to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. 'The
Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him'"
(Lamentations 3:22-24 rsv).
God loves you so much that there is nothing you can do to cause Him to
turn away from you. He is always there for you; He is your hope; and
He is all you need.
Dr. Larry Crabb says, "Christ is looking at you and saying, 'Take the
worst discouragement that you ever felt, the deepest pain you ever
felt, the worst sin you ever committed. Combine them all and they are
not enough to make Me move away from you.'"
Father God, I'm so glad that You will never leave me. You love me so
much; I can barely comprehend it. Yes, Lord, my hope is in You. Amen.

* Overcomers Impress God*
*REVELATION 21:7 NKJ
7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his
God and he shall be My son.*
*You face problems. Sometimes you struggle and wonder why God
doesn't "just do something."*
*God is giving you an opportunity to impress Him!*
*God is your audience -- rooting for you. He is thrilled when
you overcome. Just like an earthly parent is thrilled when
their child excels.*
*God still LOVES you even if you fail. You just miss the
opportunity to thrill Him by not overcoming. (But what could be
a more worthy goal than to thrill God?)*
*"OK, I would like to impress God. How do I 'overcome'?"*
*1 JOHN 5:4-5 NKJ
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is
the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.
5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that
Jesus is the Son of God?*
*Overcoming is clearly something achieved by believing -- not by
other means.*
*Further light on this comes in Revelation 12:11.*
*REVELATION 12:11 NKJ
11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the
word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to
the death.*
*Because of the redemption obtained by the sacrificial death of
our Lord, and our agreement with it, expressed through words of
faith, we overcome. In short: expressing our faith in Jesus and
what He did.*
*Another key is mentioned: commitment -- even to death. We must
be resolute and determined, no matter what the cost, to fully
and finally overcome.*
*Eight times in Revelation great promises are made to those who
overcome. (Rev. 2:7, 2:11, 2:17, 2:26, 3:5, 3:12, 3:21, 21:7.)*
*Our Lord's intention in giving these promises was certainly not
to make us feel guilty, or inadequate, but to spur us on to
victory.*
*God is cheering you on to victory! He believes you can overcome
(with His help)!*
*SAY THIS: God made me an overcomer, so I will overcome!*

*Daily Devotional
*Betty Miller shares her daily devotionals which are based on the book of
Proverbs in the Bible. * * * The Wisdom of God*
*Verses for the Day:*
*Proverbs 21:13-14 (KJV):
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry
himself, but shall not be heard.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
**
**
**Proverbs 21:13-14 (AMP):
**13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor will cry out himself and
not be heard.**
14 A gift in secret pacifies and turns away anger, and a bribe in the lap,
strong wrath.*
*Thoughts for the Day:*
These verses in *Proverbs *warn us to be sensitive to the needs of the poor
and to always extend mercy and avoid using bribes to deal with angry
situations. *Verse 13* admonishes us to listen to the cries of the poor and
help them. If we ignore the plight of those less fortunate than we are,
then when we have a need, our cries will not be heard. Remember we reap
what we sow. We can store up "mercy" so that when we have a need for it,
the Lord will be merciful to us. None of us know what kind of trials we may
face in the future and there could be a need for someone to be merciful to
us. When we show mercy to the poor and weak and help them, the Lord in
turn, will cause people to help us in our time of need.
*Matthew 5:7: Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. *If
we fail to help the poor and needy, we are denying the faith. True faith
in God will cause us to reach out to the poor and helpless. We will do
good works of helping those in need and God will bless us for it.
*James 2:15-17 (AMP):
15 If a brother or sister is poorly clad and lacks food for each day,
16 And one of you says to him, Goodbye! Keep (yourself) warm and well fed,
without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do?
17 So also faith if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience
to back it up), by itself is destitute of power -- (inoperative, dead). *
We sin against God when we know to do good and do not do it. This type of
sin is called the "sin of omission." We omit to do the things we should.
Sins that we commit are called "sins of commission." We do not want to be
guilty of either kind of sin.
*James 4:17: Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to
him it is sin.*
*Verse 14 *in today's study makes a statement regarding secret gifts and
bribes. Webster's Dictionary defines a bribe as: *1.) anything, especially
money, given or promised to induce a person to do something illegal or
wrong. 2.) anything given or promised to induce a person to do something
against his wishes.*
The book of* Proverbs* is not only known for its wise sayings, but also for
its practical observations. *Verse 14 *states that a man who presents a
gift to someone in secret will be able to turn his anger away. This very
statement suggests that some kind of underhanded situation between these
parties precipitated the one becoming angry with the other one. When people
have no morals they use "pay offs" as gifts or bribes to deal with the
anger of other people. This is wrong and sinful for both parties involved.
Some people can be bought with a bribe or gift, if they do not have strong
moral convictions. Bribes come as temptations. To overcome them, we must
call on God to give us the strength and power to resist any offer to do
anything illegal or wrong. As Christians, we not only should refuse any
kind of bribes, but in the area of money, we should also refuse anything
that we know the Lord would disapprove of, such as gambling. If we pray
and remain humble, the Lord will give us favor when we need it to deal with
any kind of bad situation. We do not need to resort to methods of
manipulation or bribery.
*Prayer for the Day:*
*Dear Heavenly Father, I do appreciate all that You have given me. Lord,
please help me to overcome any selfishness or insecurity that would keep me
from giving to the poor and needy. Help me to be sensitive to the needs of
others and not just concerned about my own needs. Also, let me not be
neglectful to pray for those who may not have anyone praying for them. I
do pray for my family and friends, but Lord, enlarge my heart to reach out
beyond my circle of relationships, that I may pray for and give to those
You would show me that have needs. Let me always be merciful to those who
need mercy and I thank You for the many times You have shown mercy to me.
I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.*

Are You Secure?
Part 2 of 4
By PAUL SADLER
SALVATION
When we consider the subject of salvation it is crucial to remember that
"Salvation is of the Lord." It was God who devised the plan of salvation
and implemented it at the Cross, where Christ died for our sins. God's
justice, having been satisfied, paved the way for His acceptance of the
finished work of Christ on our behalf. Now in love He turns to us,
revealing that we must respond by faith to what He has accomplished.
There is not a believer reading these lines who would hold that we can save
ourselves from our sins. Every true believer will acknowledge this
conclusion to be unconditionally true, because it is based on the living
Word of God. This being the case, we must also acknowledge that the Lord
must, according to His Word, keep us saved or eternally secure. If we agree
that no one has the power to save himself, then it naturally follows that
no one has the power to keep himself either. Our complete salvation (past,
present and future) depends wholly on Him.
HOLDING FORTH THE WORD OF LIFE
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom. 6:23).
Is it possible to help those who believe they can lose their salvation? By
all means, but first we must be equipped with the proper Scripture
passages, in order, to effectively minister to those who hold this view.
Here are two suggestions: Select a passage, such as Romans 6:23, and
politely ask your friend to read it carefully. Then inquire, "When you
initially believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, did you receive the gift of
eternal life as promised in this verse?" Brace yourself, because he is
going to respond, "Definitely!" Gently reply, again I say gently, "In what
sense was it eternal if you can ever lose it?" You see, if you can lose it,
then it was never eternal to begin with. The Holy Spirit used the word
"eternal" because that is exactly the thought He wanted to convey. If you
believe God is eternal, then the life we inherit at the moment of
regeneration must also be eternal, because Christ is our life (Col. 3:4).
The next inquiry that naturally follows is, "If you can lose your salvation
(eternal life), which sin is it that will place you again in danger of the
Hell fire judgment to come?" Understanding the Word rightly divided means
that we must confine ourselves to Paul's revelation, seeing he is the
Apostle to the Gentiles and received the commands of Christ for the Church
today (Rom. 11:13;I Cor. 14:37).
After fifteen years of studying the epistles Paul, I know of no passage of
Scripture that sets forth a sin or sins whereby one could lose his
salvation. Where God is silent the believer is also bound to be silent.
But some will say, "It's the more serious sins named in the Bible, ones
like murder or adultery that can finally condemn us." But, according to
Prov. 6:16-20 the sins of pride and lying are a greater abomination in the
sight of God.
Another dilemma you will find yourself in if you hold to the doctrine of
"eternal insecurity" is trying to determine when you've sinned that
"undefinable" sin too many times. If for example it was lying, is it lie or
the tenth lie you may tell? A bewildered saint said to me one time, "I am
not really sure, but know it in my heart when it happens." I needed only to
remind him of the words of Jeremiah. "The heart is deceitful above all
things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jer. 17:9).

"God's Word to You"!
God's Word to You today is found in John 15:18-25
18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If you
belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not
belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why
the world hates you. 20Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is
greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you
also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will
treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who
sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty
of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23He who hates me
hates my Father as well. 24If I had not done among them what no one else
did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these
miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25But this is to
fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
Ok, the world hated Jesus during His life and still hates Him today. A
friend of mine and I were talking today about this very thing. We were
comparing what the Bible says about Jesus' life here on earth and what some
of the prosperity preachers preach.
Now there are many out there who think of God as their personal genie,
someone who if they pray hard enough or do enough things they think God
wants of them that they will get exactly what they pray for. Sometimes I
hear that God wants the very best for us as far as money, popularity, the
best jobs, and fancy homes and cars.
Baloney. If Jesus was born in a manger, worked hard His whole life for a
meager living, was betrayed, beaten, and crucified how in the world can I
expect God to "want" me to have only the finer things in life? God "wants"
my love, worship, and obedience, probably in a similar order.
That doesn't mean we can't manage our wealth and become wealthy. If we
follow His ways we will be fruitful in all things. But to think God will
just give us all we want because He loves us is not Biblical.
Frankly, becoming a Christian is the hardest thing I ever did. Not the
salvation but the walk and growth afterwards. It is the lack of friendship
with all the old friends and their ways. It is doing what is right even
when it is the most difficult thing to do. It is walking daily with the
Lord and following Him. But it is also the best thing I ever did and
knowing Him outweighs anything I ever gave up. So what do you need to give
up?
What do you expect from God?
What are you willing to sacrifice?
me n' God love ya

DOES MY SACRIFICE LIVE?
And Abraham built an altar . . and bound Isaac his son.
Genesis 22:9
This incident is a picture of the blunder we make in thinking that
the final thing God wants of us is the sacrifice of death. what God
wants is the sac rifice through death which enables us to do what
Jesus did, viz., sacrifice our lives. Not - I am willing to go to
death with Thee, but - I am willing to be identified with Thy death
so that I may sacrifice my life to God. We seem to think that God
wants us to give up things! God purified Abraham from this blunder,
and the same discipline goes on in our lives. God nowhere tells us to
give up things for the sake of giving them up. He tells us to give
them up for the sake of the only thing worth having - viz., life with
Himself. It is a question of loosening the bands that hinder the
life, and immediately those bands are loosened by identification with
the death of Jesus, we enter into a relationship with God whereby we
can sacrifice our lives to Him.
It is of no value to God to give Him your life for death. He wants
you to be a "living sacrifice," to let Him have all your powers that
have been saved and sanctified through Jesus. This is the thing that
is acceptable to God.

"Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth." John 17:17
Thoughts on today's verse
God's promises, God's Scripture, and God's clearest message of all, his
Son, are truth. But only the last of these is truth, grace, deliverer,
friend, Lord, Savior, brother, Redeemer…
Prayer:
'O God, give me a holy passion to know your truth and live it in both word

lived your truth. In him I pray. Amen.'

*Words *

by Katherine Kehler
"These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler
of God's creation." Revelation 3:14
Recently, during my quiet time with God, I began using a series of books
entitled, The Indescribable Christ by Charles Rolls. Today my thoughts were
directed to the amazing words of Christ. Think about it. His words do not
become less powerful or less true with the passing of time. Through the
centuries His words have never changed or fluctuated. They have always been
the same.
When on earth, Christ never downplayed what He meant to say in order to
gain popularity. He never minimized or falsified reality. He never had to
fumble for a word or guess when giving an answer. He spoke what was true
and right.
Nothing He said ever had to be retracted. He didn't apologize for anything
He said.
When He condemned, His words were wisely chosen. When He affirmed someone,
it was done in truth, never to flatter. All His words were faithful and
true.
Amazing! Oh, that His followers would be more like Him.
Father, please change us! Make our words be more like the Master. Let the
Words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to You,
oh Lord. Amen.
Question: Are your words like the words of Jesus?

Scripture Reference: Job 2:9
Job 2:9
Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity?
Curse God and die!"
Don't Give Up and Don't Give In
Some of Andrew Jackson's boyhood friends just couldn't understand how
he became a famous general and then the president of the United
States. They knew of other men who had greater talent but who never
made it as far as Andrew did. One of Jackson's friends said, "Why, Jim
Brown, who lived right down the road from Jackson, was not only
smarter but he could throw Andy three times out of four in a wrestling
match." Another friend responded, "How did there happen to be a fourth
time? Didn't they usually say three times and out?" "Sure, they were
supposed to," the man replied, "but not Andy. He would never admit he
was beat. Jim finally would get tired, and on the fourth try, Andy
would throw him and be the winner. He just wouldn't quit."
No one could argue that Job's life wasn't filled with severe trials.
He not only suffered the physical affliction of painful boils from
head to foot but also lost his wealth and children. Then, to add
insult to injury, his wife urged him to give up. In her estimation,
life wasn't worth living. It was time to curse God and die. Though Job
didn't understand why he was being afflicted, however, he did know he
wasn't willing to quit.
People are always ready to encourage you to give up. "Life is too
difficult," they say. "Life is not fair. It hurts too much." But such
advice fails to take into account the omnipotent hand of God. Even
though we may not understand why painful and discouraging events
happen in our lives, we have the assurance that God has His
reasons--good reasons.
Don't allow anyone to talk you into quitting. Even though your trials
may throw you for a loss time after time, you can have the confidence
that God is still in control. Don't quit. Trust Him and keep on going.
A day is coming when you'll be glad you did.
When you give up on yourself, you give up on God.

Contentment
"I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content"
(Phil. 4:11).
Paul, denied of every comfort, wrote the above words in his dungeon. A
story is told of a king who went into his garden one morning, and
found everything withered and dying. He asked the oak that stood near
the gate what the trouble was. He found it was sick of life and
determined to die because it was not tall and beautiful like the pine.
The pine was all out of heart because it could not bear grapes, like
the vine. The vine was going to throw its life away because it could
not stand erect and have as fine fruit as the peach tree. The geranium
was fretting because it was not tall and fragrant like the lilac; and
so on all through the garden. Coming to a heart's-ease, he found its
bright face lifted as cheery as ever. "Well, heart's-ease, I'm glad,
amidst all this discouragement, to find one brave little flower. You
do not seem to be the least disheartened." "No, I am not of much
account, but I thought that if you wanted an oak, or a pine, or a
peach
tree, or a lilac, you would have planted one; but as I knew you
wanted a heart's-ease, I am determined to be the best little
heart's-ease that I can."
"Others may do a greater work,
But you have your part to do;
And no one in all God's heritage
Can do it so well as you."
They who are God's without reserve, are in every state content; for
they will only what He wills, and desire to do for Him whatever He
desires them to do; they strip themselves of everything, and in this
nakedness find all things restored an hundredfold.
