THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE CALL

For necessity is laid upon me: yea, woe is unto me, if I
preach not the gospel!
1 Corinthians 9:16

We are apt to forget the mystical, supernatural touch of God. If you
can tell where you got the call of God and all about it, I question
whether you have ever had a call. The call of God does not come like
that, it is much more supernatural. The realization of it in a man's
life may come with a sudden thunder-clap or with a gradual dawning,
but in whatever way it comes, it comes with the undercurrent of the
supernatural, something that cannot be put into words, it is always
accompanied with a glow. At any moment there may break the sudden
consciousness of this incalculable, supernatural, surprising call
that has taken hold of your life - "I have chosen you." The call of
God has nothing to do with salvation and sanctification. It is not
because you are sanctified that you are therefore called to preach
the gospel; the call to preach the gospel is infinitely different.
Paul describes it as a necessity laid upon him.

If you have been obliterating the great super natural call of God in
your life, take a review of your circumstances and see where God has
not been first, but your ideas of service, or your temperamental
abilities. Paul said - "Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!"
He had realized the call of God, and there was no competitor for his
strength.

If a man or woman is called of God, it does not matter how untoward
circumstances are, every force that has been at work will tell for
God's purpose in the end. If you agree with God's purpose He will
bring not only your conscious life, but all the deeper regions of
your life which you cannot get at, into harmony

*The Dawn that Brings the Morning *

by Margaret C Mullings
You are more beautiful
than the dawn of the morning.
Gentle as the summer breeze
Your presence is like blessings
after the rain!
Spending time with You
is my pleasure, and in Your
presence I find joy beyond
measure!
Yet there are times when
I need Your rod of correction
and a strong rebuke!
Which causes me to repent
in humility.
Your firm rebuke makes me
wiser.
I learn not to squander and
misuse the gifts You have
bestowed upon me.
Leading me back into Your
presence,
where I spend time with You
until the dawn of morning!
For You are the Dawn that
brings the morning!!!!

*Little Sins *
*

*By Charles Spurgeon. Updated to modern English by Darren Hewer, 2008.

"Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our
vineyards that are in bloom." Song of Solomon 2:15
A little thorn may cause much suffering. A little cloud may hide the sun.
Little foxes spoil the vines; and little sins do mischief to the tender
heart. These little sins burrow in the soul, and make it so full of that
which is hateful to Christ, that He will hold no comfortable fellowship and
communion with us. A great sin cannot destroy a Christian, but a little sin
can make him or her miserable. Jesus will not walk with His people unless
they turn away from every known sin. He says, "If you obey my commands, you
will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and
remain in his love." (John 15:10)
Some Christians very seldom enjoy their Savior's presence. How can this be?
Surely it must be deeply hurtful for a tender child to be separated from
their father. Aren't you a child of God, and yet satisfied to go on without
seeing your Father's face? Aren't you the spouse of Christ, and yet you're
content without His company? If so, you've fallen into a sad state, for when
He has left her the pure spouse of Christ mourns like a dove without her
mate.
Ask the question, what has driven Christ from you? He hides His face behind
the wall of your sins. That wall may be built up of little pebbles as easily
as it may be built up of great stones. The sea is made of drops; the rocks
are made of grains: and the sea which divides you from Christ may be filled
with the drops of your little sins; and the rock which has nearly wrecked
your boat, may have been made by the daily working of the coral insects of
your little sins. If you want to live with Christ, and walk with Christ, and
see Christ, and have fellowship with Christ, take heed of "the little foxes
that ruin the vineyards." Jesus invites you to go with Him and take them.
Jesus will surely be with you and help you eliminate foxes by His mighty
power. Go with Him to the hunting!

Question: What little sins do we often overlook?

Getting Over

You sit fretting with a deep furrowed brow
Thinking of where your dim life is now,
Where you have come from and are going
And supposing there is no way of knowing.

Your heart is hurting with sins of the past
They have returned to condemn you at last
And you feel alone with no earthly reprieve,
Regretting past sins compel you to grieve.

Your emptiness crushes any cause to rejoice
Where you are now is at the brink of choice,
The choice made solves where you're going,
In truth there is an absolute way of knowing.

You've mellowed with years but have old fears
The sins of your youth has caused bitter tears,
Your choice should be to give those sins away,
Serenity can be found where you kneel and pray.

Ask God to intervene in your life of in-between
He will alter your outlook by washing you clean,
Where you are is between the saving of your soul
And ruing your past where you have no control.

God in Heaven thru The Son is forever forgiving
And with love will change your sad way of living,
Salvation is a whispered prayer from your heart,
Your address Heaven when this world you depart.

Raise your gaze to God who created this Earth
He alone is the decider of your personal worth,
His love is unending and His promise unbending,
He will forgive past sins with prayer ascending.

Happiness can be your way of life with no sacrifice
Jesus Christ on the cross has already paid the price,
Accept God's forgiveness for the sins of your youth
And rejoice in the grace of God's unshakable truth.

From your clasp hands to the nail scarred hands
In prayer deliver your past sins and future plans,
Your future is a home in Heaven that will enthrall
And the sins of your youth never happened at all.

Hope

When the darkness overwhelms us
and we cannot see the light,
There is a God Who knows and cares
and He will be our sight.

The God Who has all power,
the God Whose name is love,
the God Who has all wisdom,
will guide us from above.

Do not fear the rocky path
or future unknown strife,
For in His love He carries us
and gives us hope and life.

God's loving arms enfold us
and gently hold us tight.
He fills us with His peace
and keeps us through the night.
~Idella Pearl Edwards~

Read | Mark 16:5-7

Peter was devastated when he realized he'd denied Christ
not once but three times, as Jesus had foretold (Luke 22:61-62). This
was the man who just hours earlier had bravely vowed to die for his
Lord (v. 33). I doubt he ever forgot the horror of such utter failure.
He probably spent the next few days suffocating under a weight of
guilt.

Maybe you know exactly how heavy that burden feels. The
weight of your sin goes everywhere with you, dragging your heart into
a pit of despair. God's disfavor seems to bear down on you. In a word,
you feel condemned. However, for all who have trusted in Jesus'
atoning death on their behalf, the feeling of condemnation is just
that—a feeling. It isn't the truth.

The truth is that believers are not condemned for
iniquity, no matter how terrible or habitual their transgression may
be (Rom. 8:1). Condemnation is reserved for the unbeliever who is
declared guilty of sin and punished (John 3:36). We may judge
ourselves harshly because our actions and motives fall short of a holy
standard. But God sees only the righteousness of Christ, which clothes
us the moment we say yes to His sacrifice on our behalf. No one can do
enough good to merit his own salvation. Jesus alone removes the
believer's sin and "guilty" verdict.

God understands our heart's burdens—even self-inflicted
ones. That is why the Lord sent Peter a message to let him know that
he was not condemned, and the Messiah who loved him was waiting in
Galilee. All believers should personalize the truth that there is no
condemnation in Christ.

Why You Need to be Creative

by Jane Powell

"Unleash your creative power."

Many of us do not see ourselves as naturally creative. We fail
to recognize and appreciate our innate abilities. That's because we
hold limiting concepts of ourselves, and what it means to be creative.
The thesaurus says that creativity is also originality, inspiration
and imagination. That describes you, doesn't it?

Whatever your calling is in life you have the ability to express
creativity through it. Whether you want to improve your personal
relationships, plant a garden, furnish a home, or cook a gourmet meal
– all these avenues offer opportunities for inspired self-expression.

So, see yourself as original, inspired and imaginative. Then,
unleash the creativity within and watch your attitude and
accomplishments reach new heights you never thought imaginable.

Courage is the power to face your difficulties.
It comes from the reserves of your mind
That are more powerful then any of your outside circumstances.

When you recognize that you are bigger than your problems,
You gain the courage necessary to overcome anything.

Your obstacles will look large or small to you
According to whether you are large or small.
Courage is the capacity

To confront what can be imagined.

It gives you the ability to rise above reality.

You are more important than any of your problems.

Confidence in now

Now is where you are. Now is where to focus your efforts and attention.

Now you can act and get results. Now you can make a difference
and have an influence.

It makes no sense to concern yourself now with your shortcomings
in the past. Now is when you can do what you were previously unable or
unwilling to do.

There is time to live your life and that time is now. There is
time to experience joy, love and fulfillment, and that time is now.

There is nothing you need before you can act, because you are
already here and now. There is much that you can do, so do it now.

Make complete, effective use of this moment. And know the power
of claiming full confidence in now.
Ralph Marston

Coffee Break

"God Has A Plan"

"Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold
me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life." Genesis
45:5

Not everything in life goes the way we hope, desire or plan.
Situations arise, plans get changed, things happen. We may not, and
usually don't, understand why it is happening. I can only imagine
what was going through Joseph's mind when his brothers took hold of
him and threw him in a pit. From that moment on his world would
forever change, all his dreams and hopes lay behind him, all his plans
ended, his future looked uncertain.

When we read the story of Joseph, we are able to read it all at once.
We can start at the beginning and skip to the end and know the outcome
immediately. Being able to skip right to the end gives us the ability
to see that God had a plan for all that happened to Joseph. Joseph
did not have that advantage, he did not know from day to day what
would happen to him. He did not know how his life was going to end.
He didn't know while he was in the pit that he would one day be a
ruler in Egypt.

Like Joseph, when we are going through situations that we don't
understand, we don't have the luxury of knowing the outcome. I am
sure that during the years in prison Joseph didn't see that there was
a plan behind what was happening to him, but there was. Again, like
Joseph, we can't always see that there is a plan at work behind what
is happening to us. But there is. There was for Joseph and there is
for us.

When we don't understand what is going on or why this thing is
happening to us, we need to remember-- God has a plan. Don't let it
shake you- God has a plan. Don't let it rattle you-- God has a plan.
Don't worry- God has a plan. The situation may look bleak, but God
has a plan. The furnace may be hot, but God has a plan. The lions
may be roaring all around you, but God has a plan. The Red Sea may be
before you, but God has a plan.

God is aware of what you are going through. It hasn't taken Him by
surprise. And He will make all things- this included- work together
for the good, because He has a plan.

Have a great. Whatever you are going through this morning, you may
not understand it, you may not have the ability to see the outcome,
but remember this- God has a plan, and this will work together for
your good.

Song of Solomon 3:4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I
found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go,
until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber
of her that conceived me.

Does Christ receive us when we come to Him, notwithstanding all
our past sinfulness? Does He never chide us for having tried all other
refuges first? And is there none on earth like Him? Is He the best of
all the good, the fairest of all the fair? Oh, then let us praise Him!
Daughters of Jerusalem, extol Him with timbrel and harp! Down with
your idols, up with the Lord Jesus. Now let the standards of pomp and
pride be trampled under foot, but let the cross of Jesus, which the
world frowns and scoffs at, be lifted on high. O for a throne of ivory
for our King Solomon! Let Him be set on high for ever, and let my soul
sit at His footstool, and kiss His feet, and wash them with my tears.
Oh, how precious is Christ! How can it be that I have thought so
little of Him? How is it I can go abroad for joy or comfort when He is
so full, so rich, so satisfying. Fellow believer, make a covenant with
thine heart that thou wilt never depart from Him, and ask thy Lord to
ratify it. Bid Him set thee as a signet upon His finger, and as a
bracelet upon His arm. Ask Him to bind thee about Him, as the bride
decketh herself with ornaments, and as the bridegroom putteth on his
jewels. I would live in Christ's heart; in the clefts of that rock my
soul would eternally abide. The sparrow hath made a house, and the
swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young, even thine
altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God; and so too would I make
my nest, my home, in Thee, and never from Thee may the soul of Thy
turtle dove go forth again, but may I nestle close to Thee, O Jesus,
my true and only rest.

"When my precious Lord I find,
All my ardent passions glow;
Him with cords of love I bind,
Hold and will not let Him go."

"Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory
and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.
Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all.
In Your hand is power and might;
In Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.
Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name.'"

Today's Promise from the Bible

2 Peter 3:13

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a
new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Reflection

We as believers have a hope and a promise from God that there will be
a new heaven and a new earth, which is the home of the righteous!
These mortal things will soon pass! We merely await His glorious
return! Let us cry with a great hope: "Come quickly O Lord!"

Counterfeit Christians

. . . If we compare what we ought to be and could be with what we are,
and we don't see that we are in a rut and we are not concerned, then
one of three things may be wrong. First, we may not be converted at
all. I am convinced that many evangelicals are not truly and soundly
converted. Among the evangelicals it is entirely possible to come into
membership, to ooze in by osmosis, to leak through the cells of the
church and never know what it means to be born of the Spirit and
washed in the blood. A great deal that passes for the deeper life is
nothing more or less than basic Christianity. There is nothing deeper
about it, and it is where we should have been from the start. We
should have been happy, joyous, victorious Christians walking in the
Holy Spirit and not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. Instead we have
been chasing each other around the perpetual mountain. What we need is
what the old Methodists called a sound conversion. There is a
difference between conversion and a sound conversion. People who have
never been soundly converted do not have the Spirit to enlighten them.
When they read the Sermon on the Mount or the teaching passages of the
epistles that tell them how to live or the doctrinal passages that
tell how they can live, they are unaffected. The Spirit who wrote them
is not witnessing in their hearts because they have not been born of
the Spirit. That often happens.

Verse
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the
Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. John 3:36

Thought
Trying to live without life. Staggering corpses. What a tragedy! Have
we experienced spiritual birth? Have we by faith trusted in Christ as
Savior and Lord? That is the life and death issue!

Prayer
The gift of life in You, O Christ, I have received by faith. You died
for me and rose again for me that I might live. Thanks be to God!

We can bring Christ into common things as fully as into what we call
religious services. It would seem that the highest application of
divine grace is to bring it down to the ordinary matters of life. God
is, therefore, far more honored in this than even in things that are
more especially sacred.

In Romans 12, which is the manual of practical consecration, just
after the apostle speaks of ministering in sacred things, he begins to
discuss the common, social and secular affairs into which we are to
bring our consecration principles. We read: Be kindly affectioned one
to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; not
slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord (vv. 10-11).

God wanted the Levites scattered all over the cities of Israel. He
wants our workshops, factories, kitchens, nurseries, editors' rooms
and printing offices as much as our pulpits and prayer closets. He
wants us to be just as holy at high noon on Monday or Wednesday as in
the sanctuary on Sunday morning.
