Dear mindful friends,
Tomorrow (Thursday, September 15) is THE last day that you can register for
the 5-day Mindfulness Retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh in Mississippi. No
registrations will be accepted after tomorrow, NO exceptions. The nuns have
made it VERY clear, so you had better register NOW at their website. Also,
we are almost FULL now at 26 persons for the FREE van ride to the retreat
(it is costing us $1,200 to rent the 2 vans for the week, so please feel
free to help us with this financially if you like). We need to have some
space in the van for luggage, which is why we need to limit the number of
passengers. We are giving away $100 scholarships only to those who are
regular weekly Sangha meditation attendees.
If you cannot come to this retreat, you can still register for the other
retreats occurring on the West Coast this week and the East Coast next
month. But you must register NOW, for all the retreats are nearly FULL.
Over 5,000 persons attend the North American retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh
when he comes to America every other year. He is a modern day BUDDHA, as
fully enlightened as they come today. In your past life, you may have
missed seeing the Buddha or Jesus or other enlightened teachers. So why
miss out on this opportunity to see an Enlightened One in this lifetime? I
hope you have the good enough karma and the common enough sense to go see
Thich Nhat Hanh soon, whether this year or next year in Europe before he
passes away.
But all is not lost if you cannot attend. You can sponsor one of the 26
retreat attendees from our Sangha. We are looking for 26 members who cannot
go on retreat to make a donation of $100 in solidarity with those who are
going on the retreat. You can support their scholarship, and they can
practice at retreat on your behalf. Then you both gain great merit and
benefit. We inter-are. I practice for you, you practice for me. This is
how it works. The Buddha taught this ancient spiritual universal principle
over 2,500 years ago. And it is as true today as it was then. We support
each other always, just like the original monastics and laypeople supported
each other. We inter-are.
