Coffee Break
"God's Plan Is Not Easy - Part 2"
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort
me." Psalm 23:4
Yesterday we talked about the fact that God's plan for us is not
always easy. We don't just "sail smoothly" into it. His plan often
takes us into unfamiliar and uncomfortable places. There are times
when God's plan will take us into dark, uncertain and even scary
places.
The pit that Joseph wound up in on his way to fulfilling God's plan in
the palace was a deep, dark and scary place. I am sure it was an
intimidating place for Moses when he stood before Pharaoh. When
Daniel was in exile in Babylon, I am sure that he missed his family
and homeland even though he stood in the presence of kings.
Even though God's plan may take us into hard places, there is one
thing that is certain when we are walking in and fulfilling His plan
for our lives-- He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will walk
though it with us. He never left Joseph during the years while he was
in route to the palace. He never left Abraham when he left his
homeland. He never left him when he was sorely tested to offer up his
son Isaac as a sacrifice. He never forsook Daniel, even in the lion's
den. He did not run out on Moses when he was in Pharaoh's court.
The plan of God may not be easy to fulfill. There may be pain,
struggle and even grief attached to it. You may be facing
uncertainty. The way may look dark and dismal. It may look
confusing- you may not understand why He is leading in a certain
direction. But take heart, He will never leave you on the journey of
walking out His plan alone. He is walking it with you.
Have a great day. No matter how hard the plan of God may look, you
are not walking out His plan alone- He is with you.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you
are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
I just love when others encourage me. Isn't it great to be around
someone whose words are encouraging and edifying? Someone who makes
you feel good because of their words that build you up and bring you
grace just when you need it?
One of the most attractive and healing personalities in the world is
an individual who can spread grace, and blessing, and build up others
with encouraging words. You see, anybody can tear down with
destructive words, but God's people should build up!
I was in line at a grocery store one time and there was a lady there
with several small children. I guess those children had gotten the
best of her because she got so angry with them. She lit into those
kids with her words, just damaging them and cursing them. And I
thought, "Those little children are growing up with words that tear
down instead of build up!"
With your children, with your spouse, or with anyone, use words that
encourage. Even when you have a disagreement, you can disagree
agreeably. Don't let your emotions control your reactions, but be
intent on showing restorative grace to others just as God shows it to
you!
EVEN IN TIMES OF DISAGREEMENT, SHOW GRACE AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS BECAUSE
YOUR GOAL SHOULD ALWAYS BE RESTORATION INSTEAD OF CONDEMNATION.

As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to
shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same
Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him.
( Romans 10:11-12 *NIV )
We all are guilty of forgetting our blessings once in a while, and
not thanking our Heavenly Father for the many blessings that He has
given to us. This is even though; From the
fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after
another. ( John 1:16 )
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale once wrote, that if you spend two minutes
each morning counting all of your blessings,
you will find that the day will turn out well! So why not try that
today, and while you are counting them remember to thank God for
them. After all through Him all our blessings flow indeed!
Therefore, Thanks be to God for His
indescribable gifts! and when you thank Him make sure that you are;
Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
( Corinthians 9:15 ) & ( Ephesians 5:20 )
Now have a Wonderful day and may;
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you
and be gracious to you; the LORD turn His face toward you and give you
peace. Amen. ( Numbers 6:24 )

A Living Hope
1 Peter 1:3-5
Believers are born into a living hope. However, people who are
without
Christ have no foundation for their expectations and desires. Many
live with a false sense of security. They assume that what is
important in this life is the physi-cal and material. But there is no
safety in things (1 Tim. 6:9). Those who pursue wealth and health
rather than God find that their dreams either go unfulfilled or fail
to satisfy.
Believers anchor their hope in the solid rock of Jesus Christ. His
words are always true and His promises always kept. I'll sometimes
hear a person project his or her unfulfilled desires on God and then
argue that He came up short. But Christians who make a request and
submit to God's will always get an answer—yes, no, or wait.
The Lord does not disappoint those who seek His will. Don't
misunderstand that statement. We might feel temporarily let down when
something we hope for is not in God's plan. But He doesn't go back on
the biblical promise to give His children the best (Isa. 48:17; 64:4).
When one door closes, there is another about to open with something
better behind it. Friends, the Lord cannot be outdone. We can't even
wish ourselves as much good as God has in store.
The best choice a Christian can make is to fix his or her hope on the
Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome whatever fits His will for your life, and
turn away from all that does not. Circumstances may shift and change,
but Jesus never does. He is a living hope who never disappoints.

GODLY GOALS AND DESIRES
Numbers 23:19
Has He [God] said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not
make it good?
One key to successful living is learning to distinguish a godly goal from a
godly desire .
A godly goal is any specific orientation reflecting God's purpose for your
life that does not depend on people or circumstances beyond your ability or
right to control. Who do you have the ability and right to control?
Virtually no one but yourself. The only person who can block a godly goal
or render it uncertain or impossible is you.
By contrast, a godly desire is any specific orientation that depends on the
cooperation of other people or the success of events or favorable
circumstances you cannot control. You cannot base your self-worth or your
personal success on your desires, no matter how godly they may be, because
you cannot control all the people or circumstances that affect fulfillment.
When people or circumstances block our goals, we get angry. If our mentally
perceived goal is uncertain, we feel anxious. If the goal appears
impossible, we get depressed. But what God-given goal can be blocked,
uncertain or impossible? With God all things are possible, and I can do all
things through Christ who strengthens me. No one can keep us from being
what God wants us to be except us.
Notice how God distinguishes between goals and desires. John wrote, "My
little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin" (1
John 2:1). Certainly God desires that we don't sin, but His status as God
and His purposes cannot be blocked by anyone who exercises his will against
repentance. But it is God's desire that everyone repent even though not
everyone will.
God accomplished His goal when Jesus said, "It is finished." What God has
determined to do, He will do, so we can be all that He created us to be.
Prayer: Lord, show me Your purposes for my life and help me make them my
goals.

Read Genesis 7 – 9
Highlights:
Noah, his family, seven pairs of clean and one pair of unclean of every
living creature enter the ark as God had commanded (Gen. 7:2,9,16); the
Great Flood; the Rainbow Covenant.
The LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark (Gen.
7:1). Noah was able to save his family and preserve mankind because his
faith in the spoken Word of God led him to build the ark. During the many
years spent in constructing the ark, he was also known as a preacher of
righteousness in an ungodly world (II Pet. 2:5). This illustrates the New
Testament truth that faith without works is dead (James 2:26). The ark was
a secure refuge from certain death; it was also a type of Christ, who
provides refuge from spiritual death for all believers. Christ, our
spiritual ark, continues to call the lost today: Come unto Me . . . and I
will give you rest (Matt. 11:28).
For Noah and his family, there came a day, prior to the flood, when they
were told to enter the ark, and the LORD shut him in (Gen. 7:16). This
shows the special attention and personal care that God gives to all who are
faithful to Him. All who wait for a more convenient time to be saved need
to realize that it is an insult to God who said: Now is the accepted time .
. . now is the day of salvation (II Cor. 6:2). Let us therefore fear, lest,
a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem
to come short of it (Heb. 4:1).
Just as Noah was able to rest within the ark, secure from the waters of
death, Christians can be assured of spiritual rest, for our lives are hid
with Christ in God (Col. 3:3). As soon as he was once again on dry land,
Noah builded an altar unto the LORD . . . and offered burnt offerings on
the altar (Gen. 8:20). The obedience of faith and the worship of God go
hand in hand. Just as Noah was not given an exact day when the flood would
come, neither do we know the day that we will face the Lord either through
death or at His Coming.
Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels (messengers) of
heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noe (Noah) were, so shall
also the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before
the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,
until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew (understood) not
until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of
the Son of Man be. . . . Therefore be . . . ready (Matt. 24:36-39,44).
Thought for Today:
And I will establish My Covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut
off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a
flood to destroy the earth (Gen. 9:11).
Christ Revealed:
Through the ark (Gen. 7:1,7; Acts 4:12; I Pet. 3:12,20). Christ is our ark
of safety. Jesus . . . delivered us from the wrath to come (I Thess. 1:10).
Word Studies:
7:3 keep seed alive, preserve the species; 7:18 face, surface; 8:1
asswaged, subsided; 8:3 abated, diminished; 9:19 overspread, populated.

Genesis 4
The first murder: Cain kills his brother Abel, and is condemned to wander
the earth.
INSIGHT
"Am I my brother's keeper?" Cain asks. God's answer is unequivocal: Yes.
God intended for His people to be social beings -- to love, care for, and
protect each other.
The mark of any society is how well it cares for those who cannot care for
themselves. Elevated societies do well with this; debased societies do
not.The mark of a selfish society is that it cares well for those it likes
and does not care well for those it does not like. This kind of thinking
leads to brutality.
The Christian is called to have the mind of Christ in this matter. We are
to do good to all people, regardless of race, gender, or social position.
Indeed, we are our brother's keeper.
PRAYER
· Thank the Lord and praise Him that He wants to demonstrate His compassion
through His children:
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples
(Psalm 96:1-3).
· Now pray this confession to the Lord to keep your life free from sin and
in fellowship with Him:
I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, I pray, O Lord, take
away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly (2 Samuel
24:10).
· Confess any sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind. As you agree
with God's will, voice your affirmation of His Word by reflecting on the
words of Jesus:
"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may
die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die"
(John 11:25-26).
· As you make your requests known to the Lord, pray for:
· greater wisdom for daily living,
· the needs of your immediate family,
· the needs of the unfortunate in your community,
· your prayer list.
· Now offer this prayer of worship to the Lord:
Blessed be the Lord forevermore!
Amen and Amen (Psalm 89:52).

The 9-5 Window
"Then Moses said to him, "If your Presence does not go with us, do not send
us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with
your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your
people from all the other people on the face of the earth?'- (Ex 33:15-16).
A few years ago, the "AD 2000" movement was a major emphasis in the church
and had a goal of reaching the "10/40" window. This reference was related
to the 10th parallel and the 40th parallel of the globe. It was determined
that this was where the most people resided who had never heard the message
of the gospel.
Today, there is a new move of God that is focused on the "9-5" window. This
represents those who work—whether they are homemakers, construction
workers, nurses, executives, Fortune 500 CEOs or pastors and vocational
ministers. The one thing many of us have in common is that we work.
However, the one thing most workers have failed to do is bring Jesus into
their work lives. But, God is changing this.
God is helping workplace believers today understand the importance of
bringing the presence of Jesus into their work lives so that He may be
shared with those who have yet to receive salvation. God is calling us to
move past "principle-based" living to "presence-based" living. It is only
when we bring God's presence into our work lives that we see real
transformation in us and others. It is the mission field of the 21st
century—the "9-5" window. It is where more unsaved people live than the
10/40 window.
God is calling us to establish "church plants" into this new frontier that
the church has failed to focus upon. The "Church" is a Church when two
believers come together in the name of Jesus. It is not a building. It is a
people. So today, bring the Church to the workplace by focusing your
mission activity on the greatest mission field of the 21st century—the 9-5
window.

Go for the Gold Part 1
Mary Southerland
Today's Truth
2 Corinthians 1:12 "Our conscience testifies that we have conducted
ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the
holiness and sincerity that are from God. We have done so not according to
worldly wisdom but according to God's grace."
Friend to Friend
I always look forward to watching the Winter Olympics and am always amazed
by the amount of training the athletes are willing to invest in order to
win a gold, silver or bronze medal. If Christians were willing to make the
same kind of investment in running the race of life, I believe the world
would be a vastly different place. How important you consider a race to be
influences how hard you will run it and determines the goals you set in
order to win that race. I believe every believer should have clear life
goals based on clear spiritual goals which should be the most important
goals of all. There is a close connection between spiritual
goal-orientation and motivation and fulfillment in your Christian life.
This is a big reason why so many Christians are unmotivated in their walks.
If you want your relationship with God to be motivating, it has to be
making progress, accomplishing something and steadily growing - which
involves learning to set meaningful life goals.
In order to set meaningful life goals, it is important to remember that
because we are children of God, we walk by faith - not by sight. The
world's wisdom is often in direct opposition to the grace of God. In 2
Corinthians 1:12 the apostle Paul reminds us to keep our gaze on God, our
glance on our circumstances and our path in His will. One of the most
comforting thoughts about setting goals is that God is more concerned about
my future than I am. When I stop to think about the fact that God has
planned out every day of my life, setting goals becomes the daily quest of
discovering that plan and choosing to follow it. I find great hope in the
knowledge that even though I do not know every detail concerning my future,
God does, and He has already made every provision for that plan. In other
words, where God guides - He provides - which is why I can face each day
with a confident expectation that God is sufficient and will bless my life
as I seek His plan and set my life goals accordingly. Setting goals is the
mark of a seeking heart that longs to please God and experience every
blessing He has in store.
A friend once shared with me the idea of making life goals "S.M.A.R.T."
Over the years, this idea has become a practical and powerful tool in
learning how to set meaningful life goals. I hope it is helpful to you.
Specific. Psalm 139:16 "All the days ordained for me were written in your
book before one of them came to be."
Life goals must be specific. Determine precisely what your goals are. What
have you always wanted to do but have never had the time or money? What
would you do if money and time were not an issue? What do you want to
accomplish in the next five years? What do you wish you had done in the
last five years? What do you think God wants you to do that you are not
doing?
Break each goal down into a series of smaller accomplishments that, when
completed, would result in achieving your primary goal. When you break your
goals into bite-sized pieces they don't seem to be quite as daunting.
By the way, celebrate each time you achieve one of your goals. Sharon
Jaynes is a good friend and awesome partner in ministry. I will never
forget the day Sharon walked into the office where we both worked, holding
what looked like a new baby wrapped in a blanket. Since Sharon's son was in
college at the time, you can say I was a little surprised - until she
unfolded the blanket and said, "I just gave birth." Her "bundle" was
actually the first copy of her new book and she was celebrating. I joined
her in praising God for the goal she had set and met! Praise and
celebration can help motivate you to achieve the next goal on your list.
Measurable. Luke 11:28"Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey
it."
Can you tangibly show you met the goal? Goals must be specific to have
life-changing value and you must be able to tell whether or not you have
reached each goal. What specifically do you want to accomplish, and within
what time frame? It is so easy to set ambiguous life goals. "I want to get
more involved in my church" instead of "I will attend the 10:30 worship
service each week." I once set the goal of improving my prayer life but the
first question that popped into my mind was, "How?" A better goal would
have been to pray each morning for 10 minutes or recruit a prayer partner
to pray with once a week.
Once a goal has been met, review the process of meeting that goal and
determine what mistakes you could have avoided and what changes you should
have made along the way. Ask God for wisdom as you plan and set specific
goals. Involve Him every step of the way and be sure to chart your
progress. Don't be afraid to make mid-course corrections as needed. We
sometimes allow sin to influence the goals we set but if we submit each
goal to God, He will guide us back onto the right path and lead us to
re-evaluate each goal
Join me Thursday for the "rest of the story" on setting goals.
Let's Pray
I come to You today with a heart filled with praise and wonder. To think
You created me in response to Your plan is an amazing thought, Lord. But I
choose to believe it and celebrate it in my life today. Help me learn how
to set life goals that will lead me in Your ways and help me fulfill the
purpose for which I was created. Thank You, Lord.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

~STANDING IN FAITH FOR JESUS~
"For the Lord hath driven out from before you great nations
and strong; but as for you, no man hath been able to stand
before you unto this day."
----Joshua 23: 9.
************************
It has been said that "if you don't stand for something..... you'll fall
for anything."
This is so true and we know we must take a stand for the Lord and for his
Holy Word.
There are many choices and voices in this life to which one could
respond, but only one
choice that is right as to our direction in life which counts for all
eternity. Our Lord has
already prepared the right path and will show us the way in which to
walk. He is our
refuge and strength, an ever-present help in time of trouble. His Word is
our road map
through this life and as we follow His instructions, we are promised
success and victory.
In the story of Joshua, we see his choice was to serve the Lord. He was a
faithful
servant of God. Joshua understood that one could chase a thousand; when
the Lord
his God was fighting for him, as promised. Joshua and the Israelites were
also told to take
good heed that they love the Lord their God. They were not to go back
into the nations
of those that remained among them, and were to make no marriages with
them. If they
disobeyed, God would no more drive the enemy out. They would become
snares and traps
to them, scourges in their sides, and thorns in their eyes, until they
perished out of the
good land the Lord had given them. God gave them the promised land, but
they had
to go in and drive out the enemy to possess the land as the Lord went
before them.
Joshua and his followers knew that not one thing had failed thereof which
the Lord
had promised them. Standing for God always pays off and assures our
victory in Jesus.
We also have been given a new covenant of grace and a choice to serve our
Lord in spirit
and in truth. If we choose the "right way" of the Lord, we will be blessed
abundantly.
We are to come out from among the world and be separate, as we belong to
the Lord.
We must make the choice to stand for the gospel and ways of the Lord. If
we love and obey
his commands, He will not let us fall but we will be secure in the hands
of Jesus. Each day
we can stand in awe of the Savior's love and grace which He has so freely
given to us.
We give thanks as we are blessed and we are free! May we also recognize
and give
thanks for our many blessings, freedom, and right to worship God in spirit
and in truth.
Blessings In Christ,

At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for
charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were
unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was
trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. --Daniel 6:4
A young Christian professional interviewed for a position in a thriving
business once, and brought with him a top-notch resume. In it, he listed
many references, including his pastor, his Bible study teacher, and a
church deacon.
Unbeknownst to the young man, the business owner was also a Christian.
After he had studied the resume, he said, "Young man, I appreciate these
recommendations from people in your church. However, what I would really
like is a word of recommendation from people who know you during the week
as well."
Oftentimes, the way people live their lives on Sunday is very different
when compared to the way they live their lives the rest of the week. Often
people act differently at church than they do out in the real world. But
the truth is, the biblical truth we hear on Sunday should also be practiced
throughout the week! Worship should be a way of life…not a weekly event.
Daniel was a perfect example of someone who was consistent in his
relationship with both God and man. In fact, even his enemies couldn't find
any fault with him!
As a follower of Christ, does your life look differently during the week
than it does at church on Sunday? The old adage is true: "Actions speak
louder than words." Determine to live a consistent Christian life on Sunday
and every other day of the week!
PRAYER CHALLENGE: Ask the Lord to help you walk consistently with Him
throughout the week…and pray that your life would be a constant reminder to
those around you of Christ, the One you serve.

VERSE:
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful
word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at
the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
-- Hebrews 1:3
THOUGHT:
We talk about Mother Nature, but did you know that Scripture
identifies Jesus as the power behind the order of our universe? He
sustains our world by his powerful word. Not only did he save us by
the sacrifice of his life, but he also sustains us by his word. He
sustains us spiritually by his word of teaching and sustains our
world by his word of power and grace.
PRAYER:
Please be with me, Almighty God, as I commit to live for you
based on Jesus' word. Help me as I seek to understand it and apply
it. More than that, dear Father, please help me to come to know you
through his words. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Is God Interested?
Day 209
God is a supreme being who is interested in and concerned about you,
and He wants to be involved in the process of your healing. This is
amazing.
"Think of who God is," said Dr. Bill Bright. "Astronomers tell us
there are over a hundred billion galaxies separated by trillions of
light years, and this God, who created it all, became a man: the
God/man Jesus of Nazareth. He died on the cross for us, and it is all
a gift. It is awesome, that this great, holy, Creator, God of the
universe should care."
It is so difficult for our limited human minds to embrace the
greatness of God and of His ultimate plan. It is difficult to move out
of a self-centered existence.
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and
the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are
mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a
little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and
honor" (Psalm 8:3-5).
Amazing God, turn my inward-looking eyes outward to You. You are
interested in all that goes on in my life-my emotions, fears,
disappointments, and confusions-and You want to heal me through
Christ. Thank you. Amen.

Living Clutter-free
Glynnis Whitwer
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and
do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
Galatians 5:1 (NIV 1984)
My friend was desperate. I could hear it in her voice as she talked
about her disorganized house. She was disgusted. Her husband was
frustrated. Every day was a challenge to get the kids ready, find
clean socks and cook dinner.
The chaos in her home was affecting her emotionally. She felt like she
was falling apart. Why couldn't she get it together? she wondered.
After all, she was an intelligent, educated woman.
She was also embarrassed. So when I told her I'd love to come over and
help, she put me off. It wasn't a bother at all, I said. Second to
finding a litter of kittens needing me to rescue them, I love helping
friends organize something. Eventually I wore her down and we set a
date.
Walking into her house that morning with a cup of coffee for her in
one hand and some boxes to sort things in the other, I immediately
realized organization wasn't her problem. Clutter was. There was no
point trying to organize anything. We needed to uncover and reclaim
her home.
She wasn't a hoarder. Life circumstances had converged and overwhelmed
her. Plus, the amount of visual mess was draining her energy and
causing confusion. She couldn't identify what to keep and what to let
go. And she was afraid to file anything in case she couldn't find it
later ... but that wasn't working either.
I could relate to my friend's situation. What happened to her happens
to most of us at some time. In fact, if she had come by my house a few
years before that, she would have seen a very cluttered home. At the
time, my husband and I had three little boys. We were outnumbered and
I couldn't keep up with everything.
I've discovered that in most loving and lively homes, there is going
to be a lot of clutter. It can be a sign of activity, intelligence and
curiosity. Books from the library, art projects and magazines speak of
minds and hearts that long to explore and create. However, left
untended, clutter becomes a prison. And that is where my friend was.
She just needed someone to come and help her get out.
Together we were able to quickly sort through stacks and piles. We
discarded broken toys and dishes, recycled loads of paper and
identified what was important. We didn't get much "organizing" done
that day, but we sure did lighten her load - physically and
emotionally. That was just the jumpstart she needed to continue
bringing order to her home and life.
My friend did the right thing in sharing her situation. By admitting
she needed help, she was able to get unstuck. The clutter had rendered
her frozen in indecision, which is what happens quickly. It becomes
like a prison, affecting our schedules, finances, homes and sometimes
even our relationships. And that is far from the life of freedom God
desires for us.
Galatians 1:5 tells us that Christ came to set us free. Free from sin.
Free from legalism. Free from judgment. Basically, free from whatever
holds us back. Jesus frees us from all this so we are free to live a
simple, alert life. A lighter life. One where our minds are clearer,
our focus sharper, our priorities evident and lived-out. Truly it's a
life of freedom.
It may seem like a harmless pile of paper, or just a stack of clothes
needing mending. In reality every area of clutter in our lives can be
a link in a chain, holding us back from freedom. It doesn't have to be
that way. Will you join me today in embracing God's gift of ordered
and clutter-free life? I might not be able to bring you coffee, but
you've got my support.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your freedom...freely offered in every area
of my life. Please show me areas of clutter I have, and ways to clean
them up to best serve You and those around me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Application Steps:
Is there an area of your life where clutter is holding you back from
obeying God? What one thing can you do today to start addressing that
clutter?
Reflections:
What are common reasons clutter builds up in my life?
How have I seen clutter affect me in negative ways? Consider all areas of life.
Power Verses:
Galatians 5:13, "You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not
use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one
another in love." (NIV)
1 Corinthians 4:2, "Now it is required that those who have been given
a trust must prove faithful." (NIV)

This Day's Thought
They crucified him with the criminals. Do you know what this implies?
Don't be too surprised if I tell you that this was the first
Christian fellowship, the first certain, indissoluble, and
indestructible Christian community. Christian community is manifest
wherever there is a group of people close to Jesus who are with him in
such a way that they are directly and unambiguously affected by his
promise and assurance. These may hear that everything he is, he is
for them, and everything he does, he does for them. To live by this
promise is to be a Christian community.

Remorse or Repentance?
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be
regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
There is a difference between repentance and remorse. Remorse is being
sorry you got caught. For example, if you were to rob a bank, get away with
it for awhile, and then are arrested, you are remorseful. Why? Because you
got caught.
Or, as you are driving down the freeway and get pulled over by the highway
patrol, you are remorseful. Why? Because you got caught, not because you
broke the speed limit. That isn't repentance; that is remorse. Repentance
is being sorry enough to stop what you are doing and change your behavior.
Judas Iscariot was remorseful about his betrayal of Jesus. He knew Jesus
was innocent. He knew what he did was wrong. And if he was repentant, he
still could have turned to Jesus. But instead, he turned to the religious
leaders.
And what did that do for him? They said, in effect, "You know what? What is
that to us? That is your problem. You have served your purpose. Get out of
here." That is so typical of this world. It promises freedom, but it brings
slavery. It promises enjoyment, but it brings guilt. Instead of happiness,
it brings sorrow. Instead of pleasure, it brings pain. Judas did not have a
friend in the world except Jesus, and he betrayed Him. So Judas turned to
religion, and religion had nothing to offer him. He needed Christ.
Religion is like getting a Band-Aid when you need open-heart surgery. We
don't need a little religion, because a little religion—or even a lot of
it—won't help us. We need a lot of Jesus.
Where will your guilt drive you? If you feel guilt for your sin, here is
where you need to go: to Christ. That is the only place to go.
Summary sentence: Do you know the difference between godly sorrow and
remorse?

"God's Word to You"!
God's Word to You today is found in Genesis 2:20-24
20 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and
to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit
for him. 21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and
while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22
And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman
and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, "This at last is bone of
my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man."
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to
his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Ok so this message may not make me very popular with many of you. It's
about fame. It's about love. It's about "reality" TV. It's about being
fake, losing touch with the real world and it's about seeking your heart's
desire unnaturally.
Yep. It's about The Bachelor.
I'm sorry but here is what is true. God made man and God mad woman. And
because of original sin the relationship changed. Because of Jesus and
God's love we are allowed to still seek each other out and find each other
and learn to love and cherish each other.
It isn't supposed to be a hunt with someone picking out the game and you
have a time limit as well as pressure as well as expectations of
"winning". It isn't supposed to be a competition where if you aren't
chosen you are a loser. It isn't about fake people hopping into a
spotlight for a moment of fame and self-promotion.
It is supposed to be about finding love, which isn't easy in itself, and
nurturing that love and growing close to someone during your life
together. Love is something that grows and is not just found. Love is
about the gift God gave and still gives to us and not a commercial
profitable TV show.
Ok so now I have vented and I hope for all of those out there who see it as
a charming romantic way to meet Mr. Right will still love me even though I
think it is an unfortunate way to destroy lives instead of build up those
who seem already weak and needy.
Today do yourself and someone else a favor. Love them and let them know
it. Build someone up because you love them not just to be loved. And
remember…
me n' God love ya

Climb Upward
"And there was an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the
side chambers: for the. winding about of the house went still upward
round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house was still
upward and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the
midst" (Ezek. 41:7).
"Still upward be thine onward course:
For this I pray today;
Still upward as the years go by,
And seasons pass away.
"Still upward in this coming year,
Thy path is all untried;
Still upward may'st thou journey on,
Close by thy Savior's side.
"Still upward e'en though sorrow come,
And trials crush thine heart;
Still upward may they draw thy soul,
With Christ to walk apart.
"Still upward till the day shall break,
And shadows all have flown;
Still upward till in Heaven you wake,
And stand before the throne."
We ought not to rest content in the mists of the valley when the
summit of Tabor awaits us. How pure are the dews of the hills, how
fresh is the mountain air, how rich the fare of the dwellers aloft,
whose windows look into the New Jerusalem!
Many saints are content to live like men in coal mines, who see not
the sun. Tears mar their faces when they might anoint them with
celestial oil. Satisfied I am that many a believer pines in a dungeon
when he might walk on the palace roof, and view the goodly land and
Lebanon. Rouse thee, O believer, from thy low condition! Cast away thy
sloth, thy lethargy, thy coldness, or whatever interferes with thy
chaste and pure love to Christ. Make Him the source, the center, and
the circumference of all thy soul's range of delight. Rest no longer
satisfied with thy dwarfish attainments. Aspire to a higher, a nobler,
a fuller life. Upward to heaven! Nearer to God!
--Spurgeon
"I want to scale the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray, till heaven I've found,
Lord, lead me on to higher ground!"
Not many of us are living at our best. We linger in the lowlands
because we are afraid to climb the mountains. The steepness and
ruggedness dismay us, and so we stay in the misty valleys and do not
learn the mystery of the hills. We do not know what we lose in our
self-indulgence, what glory awaits us if only we had courage for the
mountain climb, what blessing we should find if only we would move to
the uplands of God. --J. R. M

HOPE it may be the happiest year of your life, as I think each
succeeding year of everybody's life should be, if only everybody were
wise enough to see things as they are; for it is certain that there
really exists, laid up and ready to hand, for those who will just lay
hands upon it, enough for every one and enough forever. I am quite
sure that the central mistake of all lives that are mistaken is the
not taking this simple unchangeable fact for granted, not seeing that
it is so, and cannot but be so, and will remain so "though we believe
not." I think I can trace every scrap of sorrow in my own life to this
simple unbelief. How could I be anything but quite happy if I believed
always that all the past is forgiven, and all the present furnished
with power, and all the future bright with hope, because of the same
abiding facts, which don't change with my mood, do not crumble,
because I totter and stagger at the promise through unbelief, but
stand firm
and clear with their peaks of pearl cleaving the air of Eternity, and
the bases of their hills rooted unfathomably in the Rock of God?

Hebrews 11:8-18
Have you ever thought about the fact that you and I have the Gospel
today because Abraham and others who were chosen of God were faithful?
God has chosen to work through men; therefore, the future of God's
work rests on what He is able to motivate men to do.
In Old Testament times the work of God depended on men such as
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. In New Testament times Jesus Christ made His
future program dependent on the apostles. He spent time with these men
and properly trained them for the work they had to do.
Not only was faithfulness required of the patriarchs and the
disciples, but it is also required of us because God has committed to
us the ministry of reconciliation.
Paul wrote: "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us
the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye
reconciled to God" (2 Cor. 5:19,20).
There is no choice in the matter. We are the sovereign appointees of
God to represent Him to others. Abraham was faithful. The disciples
were faithful. Are we faithful?
"Without faith it is impossible to please him [God]" (Heb. 11:6).

Waiting on God
Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will
perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the
kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee,
then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth: lie
down until the morning.
DURING OUR DARK MOMENTS frequently we become impatient and ask God to
speak to us immediately. But sometimes God is silent, and we must be
silent as well. When the tears of frustration stream down our cheeks,
when defeat and despair hang around us like a shroud, when we don't
know which way to turn, we must heed God's advice to the psalmist, "Be
still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).
Perhaps this divine stillness in the midst of the storm is best
illustrated in the story of Ruth. A severe famine in Palestine drove
Elimelech and Naomi, Ephrathites of Bethlehem, to Moab with their two
sons, Mahlon and Chilion. Here the sons married Moabite girls named
Ruth and Orpah. After ten years the father and sons died leaving three
childless widows. Naomi decided to return to her homeland. Realizing
the lonely life ahead for her daughters-in-law in a foreign country,
she entreated them to remain behind in Moab. After some persuasion
Orpah returned but Ruth requested, "Intreat me not to leave thee, or
to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will
go; and where thou lodges, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people
and thy God my God" (Ruth 1:16). Hence, Ruth and Naomi traveled on
together.
It was springtime during the barley harvest when Naomi and Ruth
arrived in Bethlehem. Immediately Ruth went to glean in the field of a
wealthy Ephrathite named Boaz, a relative of Elimelech, her
father-in-law. Boaz showed kindness to Ruth, allowing her to eat with
the Jews, contrary to the Hebrew custom, and eventually came to love
her. Full of gratitude to God, Naomi instructed Ruth to claim her
rights under the levirate law of marriage. This law, similar to those
of the Assyrians and the Hittites, permitted a childless widow to
marry her husband's brother or nearest kinsman in order to perpetuate
the dead husband's name.
That night, when Boaz went to sleep, Ruth softly came and laid at his
feet. During the night Boaz awoke and was startled to see Ruth. She
identified herself and asked him to perform the duties of the near
kinsman. Apparently Boaz's interest in Ruth had blossomed. However, he
knew there was a kinsman nearer than he who must first be given the
opportunity to perform this custom. Thus Boaz instructed Ruth, "Tarry
this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform
unto thee the part of the kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's
part; but if he will not do the part of the kinsman to thee, then will
I do the part of the kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down
until the morning" (Ruth 3:13).
In the morning Ruth arose, was given six measures of barley by Boaz,
and returned to the house of Naomi. Filled with anxiety over her
future, Naomi instructed Ruth in the lesson of quiet faith. She said,
"Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall."
Boaz kept his word. He called ten witnesses of the elders to take
their seats in the gate of the city to ratify his negotiations with
the nearest kinsman to Ruth. When the kinsman refused to redeem his
possession, that transferred the right of redemption legally to Boaz.
Boaz and Ruth were married; she bore a son named Obed, the father of
Jesse, the father of David. Good things happen to us when we sit still
and wait on God.
Like Ruth, we must learn that no one who trusts God is ever forgotten
by our Saviour. He is ever praying for us (Hebrews 7:25). We may feel
forsaken and forlorn, but our High Priest is always touched with the
feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15-16). He catches the tears of
our anxiety and anguish alike "in [His] bottle" (Psalm 56:8). He is
fully aware of our situation. In the meantime, we must simply sit
still until we see how the matter will fall and learn the glorious
lesson that, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength"
(Isaiah 40:31).
MORNING HYMN
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
