Six of Coins

Six of Coins

Meanings

A generous benefactor. The truly rich are those who know the
satisfaction of sharing and using their wealth to make the world a
better place. Affluence is a measure of contentment, not currency.

Reversed

Over-generosity. Take care not to give too much, too often or to those
who prefer to become dependent instead of improving their own
prospects. Sending yourself into poverty is no help to the world.

Description

A finely dressed noblewoman weighs coins and distributes alms to the
poor. A pile of coins and small open book lay on a green tablecloth in
front of her. On the shelves behind her are more books, some shells
and a glass decanter, as well as a rosary of large glass beads. A
grasshopper chirps on the arm of her chair.

The Six of Disks

s

The Lord of Success is a card full of the promise of bounty. When we
have achieved a degree of inner confidence and self-belief, we release
new streams of energy which create a powerful and rewarding reality
around ourselves. New ideas are easy to implement. New projects are
fruitful. We are energised and enthusiastic about the work we have in
hand.

This level of productive harmony comes from a deep-rooted trust in the
self. Once we simply allow our power to flow, we find ourselves
capable of high levels of success and fulfilment. These things flow
naturally as a reward for the hard work we have invested in ourselves.

When the card comes up in a reading to indicate everyday matters, it
promises that projects currently in hand will be lucrative and
abundant. We will do exactly what we had hoped we might - and probably
receive even more than we had hoped for. Financial and material
matters will be positive and prosperous, allowing us to gain a stable
and comfortable position.

There is often, during a period like this, such good fortune that we
end up with more than we actually need. If this happens to you, make
sure that you continue to allow money (which is after all only energy)
to keep flowing. Use the abundance that comes to you, and be generous
with your bounty. Ensure that others benefit appropriately from your
abundance. That's the best way that you can thank the Universe for
flowing with you.

Working with the Six of Disks

The Lord of Success is a delicious card, indicating that we have
achieved a natural state of inner balance and harmony which allows us
to use our energies without diversion nor interference. More often
than not, these energies are directed into practical channels - in the
workplace, dealing with things in the home environment.

This is because Disks are about the more mundane aspects of everyday
life, and about home and family - some people see Disks as purely
money-related, but this is a misunderstanding of their deep function.
Rather than interpreting Disks purely in a financial context, we are
better served by seeing them as relating to the basic nuts and bolts
of security. This includes money and finances, of course, but also
covers all sorts of other areas too - the basic trust and reliability
of our friends and family, the nature of our home, the set of tasks
which form our job. However.I digress ;-)

On a day ruled by the 6 of Disks, we need to be taking stock of our
overall position in a practical sense. This is a day to sort out your
bank accounts, check your credit card balance, look in your birthday
book for upcoming important dates, check what food you have in the
freezer, about those people closest to you and consider how they've
been doing recently.

It's a practical, down-to-earth day where you look around and feel
grateful for the things, creatures and people you have in your life.
Everybody has something to be grateful for...and most of us have a lot
to be grateful for. And on a day ruled by the Lord of Success it's
time to say thank you!

Affirmation: I am blessed with the bounty of life.

SIX OF PENTACLES

Attribution - Moon in Taurus

Lord of Success

The suit of Pentacles represents the element earth. This is the suit
through which we can appreciate what we have been given and it shows
how we experience the external world.

Pentacles can represent money matters, resources, security, material
concerns, prosperity, wealth, service, status, and physical
experiences in the body.

Sixes represent harmony within flux. Equilibrium, fairness, balance
restored, peace, reward, values, benefits from past behaviour. Sixes
indicate a search for harmony, the feminine, beauty, choice, decision.

On This Day:

Thursday February 9, 2012

This is the 40th day of the year, with 326 days remaining in 2012.

Fact of the Day: fish in winter

Fish don't go into a state of true hibernation in the winter, yet
their metabolisms do slow down. Advice for fish in backyard ponds is
to stop feeding entirely in November-December and to not resume again
till at least March (or until the water temperature has reached 50
degrees F), and then to start with very low-protein, easily digestible
foods until May or so. Fish become much less active in the winter,
don't grow, and hardly need to eat. The only need that remains the
same is that for oxygen, and when fish do die in the winter, it's
often because their supply of oxygen is used up before the ice over
their habitat melts.

Holidays

Feast day of St. Apollonia, St. Sabinus of Canossa, St. Teilo, St.
Alto, St. Ansbert, and St. Nicephorus of Antioch.

roue

PRONUNCIATION:

(roo-AY, ROO-ay)

MEANING:

noun: A debauched man, especially an elderly man from a wealthy or
aristocratic family.

ETYMOLOGY:

From French roué (literally, broken on a wheel), from rouer (to break
on the wheel), from Latin rota (wheel). The word arose from the belief
that such a person deserved this punishment. Earliest documented use:
1781.

NOTES:

The word was first applied to the companions of Philippe II, Duke of
Orleans. The breaking wheel was an instrument of torture on which a
victim was put and bludgeoned to death.

USAGE:

"Patrick Lichfield, the Queen's dandified cousin, invested in the shop
because its founders were, as he said with a roue's smirk, 'two of my
old girlfriends'."

Peter Conrad; The Big Picture; The Observer (London, UK); Nov 20, 2011.
