At some point, this will have to be discussed in the courts. Once
methods become cheap enough, one's genetic code will be no doubt
maintained in database (maybe both private and public ones). However,
I don't think doctors will be able to restrict access. It will be
treated much like your blood type, temperature, and blood pressure and
heart rate...as a standard measurement. The problem is that the
procedures are still very expensive and highly technical right now.
The day this becomes affordable, that will all change.
